It’s one thing to admire the longevity of a local business, but it’s much rarer to find an employee whose dedication to one company spans half a century! And if you’ve ever stepped foot inside Niemeyers for sales or service of your outdoor power equipment, you know that employee is Jerry Peda.

Last month marked the beginning of Jerry’s 50th year of service to Niemeyers, and he has no plans of slowing down. “This is my home away from home,” Jerry said. “Everyone knows they can find me here six days a week.”

Newtown Square has always been home for Jerry. He grew up here and began working at Niemeyers as a teenager while attending Marple Newtown High School. “I was helping my English teacher load boxes of books into her car towards the end of the school year,” Jerry explained. “She asked me what my plans were for the summer. When I said I didn’t have any, she told me to go over to Niemeyers and apply for a job.” Jerry’s teacher knew about the job opening because she was friends with Harry Harvey, who worked as a Controller for
