Time to Celebrate!:
Family Fun this Month at NELL & NSPL by Sheila Turner-Hilliard Last spring’s lockdown definitely put a damper on celebrating the start of our youth softball and baseball seasons. Important milestones were missed, and our fun, festive team parades up Bishop Hollow Rd were canceled. Although we were able to salvage a small part of the season, the sounds of cracking bats, cheering fans and children playing were sorely missed. The good news is that this spring is looking so much brighter! 2020 marked Newtown Square Petticoat League’s (NSPL) 50th anniversary. What started as a piece of farmland back in 1970 has transformed, with the hard work of dedicated volunteers, into four beautifully manicured softball fields. Troop Farm, as we know it today, has grown quite a bit over the years, and is now home to 456 girls on recreational softball teams along with six Rebels travel teams and over 100 coaches. NSPL will finally be able to celebrate their 50th Anniversary over the course of a weekend, with an All-Star Game on Friday night
