Warmer Weather Means Increased Floor Care As we exit spring and look forward to the summer months, the warmer weather tends to bring more foot traffic into your home, and that greatly affects the various types of flooring you have throughout your house. Carpets and rugs can take a real beating, with everyone from the kids, their friends, neighbors and pets coming in and out all day, not to mention the direct corridor between your floors and the backyard, park, street and pool. Spring and fall are great times to do all of your special house cleaning, but if you didn’t take the time then, getting your carpets professionally cleaned before the foot traffic increases will extend the life of your carpets. As the back and forth on your floors increases, so does the debris that gets tracked into your home. When walked on, this debris can scratch and damage carpet fibers. It is vital to vacuum your carpets and sweep your hard surface floors routinely, as well as getting them professionally cleaned every 6–12 months. A professional cleaning can remove all of that debris that a vacuum cleaner can’t. After that, a professional cleaning will deep-clean the carpets so they can withstand all of that increased foot traffic. A professional carpet cleaning using the Very Low Moisture (VLM) method will give your carpets the thorough cleaning they need and have you back on

your carpets in about 1 hour after they’re finished. The VLM method limits the drying time, therefore speeding up your carpets’ accessibility. Carpets are also your home’s number one air filter, so regular cleaning of your carpets even helps improve the air quality within your home. As the summer heat begins to roll into the area in June and windows get closed for a few months, don’t forget to both extend the life of your carpets and improve your home’s air quality by getting your carpets cleaned. One final thought: High-traffic access doors to back yards and pools should always have a floor mat or runner, to catch moisture and debris coming in from outside and prevent it from getting on your carpets and hard surfaces. Have a great summer! NS
