DofE Expedition

SchoolWatch app funding

The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expedition this weekend in Epping Forest was a resounding success !!

Year 10 students Shapla, Arifa, twins Tasnim and Taslim and Akmal, Year 9, took part in a 'dragons den' style pitch last Wednesday to TFL, Safer transport representatives, Mayor Of Hackney and other judges in an attempt to obtain funds for the SchoolWatch App they have been working on.

Although other students have been involved in the project , the above students were chosen to represent BGA.

All 25 students from Yr 10/9 were brilliant throughout, showed real determination to get through some difficult moments and worked really well together in both their map reading, cooking. Please congratulate them if you see them!

It was such a proud moment, our students not only repeatedly practiced the presentation, wrote the PowerPoint and planned the bid, they did this in their free time.

A huge thanks to all the teachers who gave up their weekend to help make the weekend a success. The weekend would not have been possible without their fantastic support.

Celebration of Women’s Day BGA This week we have been celebrating International Women’s Day with a week of assemblies, films, debate and more. The week began with a women’s football match and on Wednesday we welcomed guest speakers Anneessa Mahmood (LSE Students Union) and Inayah Zaheen (UCL Students Union) who spoke about their experiences as women in male dominated environments and how they developed leadership skills in their own educational settings. The week ended with an entertaining and thought provoking staff and student debate.

Music and dance performances On Thursday, students who will soon be dancing at Disneyland Paris performed their work to parents/ carers, students and staff. On Friday it was the turn of BGA Music students who sang and played songs they have learned for their Music coursework. The BGA band followed with three numbers to finish off the event. Well done to all students who performed.
