Bethnal Green nominated for Outstanding Progress Award
Students on parade.
Artbeat students join Allen & Overy for Lord Mayor’s Show procession. There are so many creative and rewarding opportunities for students at Bethnal Green. Last week we had a photo spread from our Big Draw event and this week we are pleased to have some photos from the recent Lord Mayor’s visit to our Art Department.
Bethnal Green is proud to announce that it has been nominated for the Outstanding Progress Award at the Education Business Awards 2011. We are thrilled that the fantastic improvements we have made as a school over the past few years have been recognised nationally. The awards ceremony will take place at the stunning, Emirates Stadium (Arsenal fans form an orderly queue!) and the event will be hosted by BBC news reader, Moira Stewart.
Lord Mayor of London, David Wootton, visited the school, along with volunteers from our community partners Allen & Overy in preparation for the Lord Mayor’s Show. Parading through the streets of London, the Lord Mayor’s Show is a public festival that dates back nearly 800 years! Our students have worked hard to create a vibrant and colourful display reflecting the themes of justice and community. Why not come down and support our students and check out some of the amazing floats in the procession. Thousands of people will be lining the streets and the event closes with a huge fireworks display over the Thames. Failing that, we’ll be on the BBC too! Saturday • 10.45 - 12.10 • BBC1 Student Surveys
As part of our LOVE Bethnal Green campaign we have lots more students surveys we would like you to take part in. We really want you to have your say and help make our school even better. Visit the Students page of the school website now!

Our School Vision Continuing with our LOVE Bethnal Green campaign, we have been asking students to help us make our school even better by contributing their comments, concerns and ideas for Our School Vision. Our School Vision is an important document that helps us to share our ideas and agree on what makes our school special as well as planning for progress in the future.
You have to be in to win. Attendance Olympics Update.
The Attendance Olympics is now running as a whole-school competition. You can stay up-to-speed with your tutor group’s progress by visiting the Students page of the school website (see above) or keep an eye on the big screens in The Street. The better your attendance and punctuality each day, the faster your sprinter will run along the track. The race is very close each week because our attendance figures are so good. May the best team win! Lab in a lorry!
Key Stage 3 science students will be stepping out of the classroom and into the car park this Friday! The giant, Lab in a Lorry will be visiting Bethnal Green.
Year 11 Exams
Don’t forget that there are English, Maths and Science exams for Year 11 students from Tuesday to Friday this week. A full list of dates and times are available on our online calendar. http://www.bgtc.org.uk/home/Calendar
This Week - Mini Maths This week we have a simple little puzzle that looks like a crossword but instead of finding words, we’re solving sums and finding numbers. To make things a little more exciting, why not add a competitive element and race against the clock or against your friends in your tutor group. Give yourself 1 minute and see how many you can get or see who can finish all the clues the quickest. I had a quick go myself. It took me 2 minutes to finish the puzzle, but nobody checked my answers! I’m sure you can beat my time.

Look for the posters in your tutor room with the post-it notes on it and please support the school by sharing your ideas with your tutor over the coming weeks.
