...and a welcome to our Year 7 students We would like to welcome our Year 7 students who have made a fantastic start to the year. Many of our new students came along to our SolFest Learning Activities event during the last two weeks of the holidays where they took part in a range of activities designed to help them get a feel for Academy life and the kind of subjects they will be learning over the coming years. Students who came into the academy to work with the new year 7 students were rewarded with tickets to watch the Paralympic athletics. Theo Gilbert, Christopher Comiski, Benjamin Oluwole, Shaheedul Hoque, Ahsan Habib, Tilak Subedi and Habinur Rahman shared their experience and sports skills as part of the academy’s Solfest Summer School project. A big thank you to them! Stewart Brown, head of PE, said: “The boys were fantastic during the fortnight, supporting the new students and teaching them sports skills. I was delighted to attend the Olympic Park with the boys and give them the reward they deserve.”
Can you spot our own Community Champion, Mr Ali, in this photo along with the Mayor Boris Johnson, Baroness Thompson-Grey and Chris Waddle. Mr Ali was invited to an awards ceremony at the Olympic Park to celebrate his success as a Community Champion.
