COLD WAR EVENTS NUCLEAR WAR BETWEEN U.S & USSR By Natalie Birkel Senator McCarthy has been making claims saying there were large number of communists and soviet spies inside the united states government. He has no proof for these claims, which is causing a big disapproval by the United States senate. Right now he is having soldiers stop people on the streets and is accusing many people. He is stopping people on the streets because he is suspicious that there are communists inside the u.s.. Communism is a huge fear right now. People are very scared and afraid of communism. Right now the u.s and the ussr are in a nuclear fight, we have an atomic bomb but so does the ussr. The thought is that we aren’t going to attack them and they aren’t going to attack us because the u.s and them both have enough nuclear warfare to ruin the planet. This started because during World War 11 the u.s and u.s.s.r. were allies and when they concord Germany they didn’t agree on which way to govern Germany. They were supposed to govern it together but it was beset by the spread of communism. The u.s.s.r. supported communism and wanted to overtake capitalism.

LETTER TO EDITOR
ADVICE COLUMN
Dear Editor, I am writing to you because I don’t appreciate the article that you have been writing about me. I have no been making false claims, and I don’t appreciate aIl these lies. I only speak of peace in this time. I would like a world with no weapons. Unfortunately this time is a time of no peace. This is the cold war. At the wars end we could have had it all, we could have been the strongest nation on earth, the most powerful. We could’ve shown we were not ready to destroy our civilization, we could’ve been the living proof. But we failed tremendously. We didn’t rise to our challenge. The reason we are in a situation like we are is not only because our enemy is strong but because of the decisions. It wasn’t the less fortunate that gave us away it was those that had everything. The ones growing up with everything have the worst mouths and will tell them our biggest secret. People have been ruining our country. Its not me. And all of these articles are a lie. I am not what they say. Senator McCarthy
Dear readers of this newspaper, I am a young girl living in New York. I have a little brother. My dad is in the communist party and if that ever slipped out that would be horrible for our family like you all know. I figured out that my grandparents immigrated from Russia. And my mom uses a fake family name so no one can find that out. I lie to my friends and make up silly story about my grandparents. But everything leads to me lying, I feel like by doing that I am keeping us safe but it turns out all my lies are turning into more trouble. Senator McCarthy and his committee have been throwing people in jail if they refuse to say the names of other communists. My dad such a loving and caring person wouldn’t do that to anyone. The worst part is they found out and he wouldn’t say anyone. He lost his job and I got kicked off the school paper. Then I met a girl who was going through this too. Her dad got caught as a communist just like mine. Lately we have been researching politics trying to figure this out. But I still dont know what to do.What do I do? Please help. Jamie
Dear Jamie, I read this and I thought I might have some stuff that could help you. You are in a horrible situation. Right now there is really nothing you can do though. Senator McCarthy has full control. Everyone is scared and fearful of communists. I’m so sorry your best friend won’t talk to you. It must be a horrible feeling. But during this time there is not much you can do about it. I’m glad you found someone thats going through this also because it would be hard to do it alone. I hope you are finding out some new information on politics. A.P Journalist ally
