past 23 years,

You know the story. We started this thing back in 2001 from an idea drawn on the back of a bar napkin; connect your sleeping bag to your sleeping pad and never roll off again! Simple.

Fast forward to 2024. As much as the gear has evolved since then so has our focus and brand. From simply designing gear to be more comfortable in the backcountry, we have grown to represent the evolution of outdoor gear globally. Our inspiration comes not only from the gear we make but also from the people that work to design, repair, and use it and in keeping the wild places that we get to use this gear in healthy and open by supporting organizations, manufacturing, and business practices that share that same mission.

Our community has shaped us into who we are as a company. We recently purchased our headquarters building in downtown Steamboat Springs, CO. Having our basecamp located steps away from mountains and trails also inspires the gear we design and test. With planet as a priority, we are proud to have our three U.S. facilities powered through 100% renewable energy offset programs.

We are always stoked to welcome new, sustainable, innovative products created with recycled materials. The brand new Circle Back™ Insulated Sleeping Pad was made with circularity in mind and is our very first product that is 100% recyclable. And we are just planting the seeds of sustainability for what’s to come. Like staying the course on trail, we continually push forward to better outdoor gear because outside is for everyone.

We are all connected by the mission to get out and sleep under the stars as much as possible. We hope to see you out there.

Cut the ounces while maintaining comfort in the backcountry. We design our ultralight gear as light as comfortably possible. From tents to furniture, we use cutting-edge materials and innovative designs, ensuring a perfect balance between comfort and weight savings. Crafted with thru hikers and weight conscious adventurers in mind, this gear prioritizes packability without compromising on durability, functionality, or comfort

Big Agnes has always focused on making quality products built to last with sustainable attributes. Through the years, we’ve incorporated recycled materials into our supply chain and encouraged the reuse and repair of our gear. Starting with the Big Agnes gear repair team in our early years, our positive environmental impact has only grown stronger over the last 20+ years and continues to grow.

We have a long history of donating returned products to displaced communities in Colorado. As part of our continued sustainability efforts, we upcycle returned sleeping pads and focus on innovative products that can be recycled into something new, like the our latest sleeping pad the Circle BackTM Insulated.

As we move forward, we will seek out new processes and practices to continue reducing our impact and be good stewards of the planet.

Q & A WITH: Yampatika

We sat down with Executive Director Kristen Jespersen to chat all things Yampatika.

A portion of the sales from our new Bug print furniture collection will go towards supporting this organization!

Q: How was Yampatika started?

A: Originally a part of the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) as a partner in interpretation, Yampatika became its own 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 1992. Yampatika employs a full-time staff of 5 people and 14 part-time or seasonal staff.

Q: What is Yampatika?

A: Yampatika’s mission is “to inspire environmental stewardship through education” – we are the only nonprofit delivering environmental education throughout Northwest Colorado. We do so in a way that is science-based, experiential, and inclusive. Our goal is to increase understanding and awareness about the key environmental issues and to help establish a connection to nature among visitors and residents to ensure the long-term protection of these resources. We do this by offering Youth Camps, In & Out of School Programs, and Adult Community Programming.

Q: Where are you based out of and how has Yampatika helped the community?

A: Yampatika is based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado but has a footprint across Northwest Colorado – we deliver programming to Jackson, Routt, Moffat, and Rio Blanco Counties.

Q: From our chair collab how will the donation from our sales of this product aid in helping Yampatika?

A: Yampatika is a small organization with a big mission. Support from Big Agnes will help Yampatika grow to meet the increasing demand for our programs. Some key current areas of need are:

• Increasing capacity for our in-school programs so we have enough staff to deliver programming to every student in the region that we serve.

• Growing our Summer Camp Scholarship Fund so that we can ensure more youth and families are able to participate in and benefit from our camps.

• Covering the cost of critical educational materials and outdoor equipment that are required to ensure our programming is experiential and interactive.

Climbing Into The Unseen

In mid-October, for the second year, the Red River Gorge of Kentucky welcomed a community of bad ass climbers to its sandstone sculptures for the Adaptive Climbers Fest: A gathering with inclusion, accessibility, barrier breaking, community led clinics, films, exploration of all senses, and a ton of laughs. This one was pretty special, as I was leading a clinic after filling in last minute last year. My film “Blind Lead” would also screen about my journey to lead my first Trad climb in Vedauwoo, Wyoming. Trad climbing is a pretty big deal for someone blind which requires putting cams in cracks, inspecting crucial placements only with touch, clipping the rope and then moving upward. This was a full circle moment because just a year had passed since sending my first ever lead sport climb of finding and clipping bolts already in the rock, surrounded by the same friends in the same magical location.

As my wife Mandy and I rolled into base camp at the Lago Linda Hideaway campground, a symphony of insects performed, the smell of fall was abundant, and you could feel the good vibes running through camp. Before setting foot on the textures of the land, I was already getting “what up’s” from those I hadn’t laughed with for a year. I could hear faint sounds of mobility devices on dirt and prosthetics moving about. Then a huge smile emerged as I thought, “this is where I belong”.

We set up our home for the next three nights with the Copper Spur HV UL4, adding to the sea of colorful tents, before grabbing a beer and swapping stories with others while relaxing in our Big Six Armchairs. After a few more sips of local bourbon and satisfying our bellies with gourmet eats prepared by rad volunteers, I decided to turn in and get horizontal in my sleeping bag. We sought comfort in our Sidewinder SL and Daisy Mae sleeping bags as the excitement began to build about going vertical the next day. Falling asleep became a simple task with the gentle pitter patter of rain and the vibrant serenade from the local cicadas, locusts, crickets, and various other insects. The rhythm was spot on for our own little concert in the woods while we drifted off to dreamland.

Waking up dry to the delightful aromas rolling through camp from another tasty meal by the volunteers, the first day of climbing was here. I was totally stoked! The festival provided plenty of top ropes set up for

with BA Ambassador and adaptive athlete Trevor Hahn

open climb, or various clinics were available. I opted for the backcountry clinic at a fairly new crag called “Hazel Hollow”. The approach to the cliff is usually the hardest for those with mobility or sight barriers. With a festival like this, everyone is eager to team up and collaborate strengths to elevate each other. With the jingle jangle of a bell to follow we were off, using my trekking poles more as giant leaf collectors this time rather than stability or seeing devices.

While the world class sport climbing of the red called to the others, the crack of various sizes named “Ferrerrerrerro Rocher” was my jam. Sometimes fitting my whole body in, this thing was dirty and didn’t see much action for its 1 out of 5-star rating. As my belayer took cover from showering silt, I climbed through 90 vertical feet of mud, spider webs, and the occasional thorn bush growing straight out of the crack. It was perfect! Thrashed and psyched for the night of community and featured films, I descended with a smile frozen in time.

Back at base camp, tales of the day were told, the stoke grew, and the celebration continued with four rad films. My film “Blind Lead” was first, explaining how cracks are life and the independence found through

Trad climbing, something I was missing since entering darkness that I hoped to pass along at my clinic the next day. After, we shared stories around the campfire over some bourbon as it started to mist. With anticipation of how weather would affect my clinic, I was happy to crawl into a dry tent to try and get some shut eye.

Eureka! I awoke and no sounds of rain were present. Time to assemble the blind and vision impaired crushers to go jam some cracks. Crack climbing is perfect for those with low or no vision who seek independence providing a line to follow with no holds to seek out and just jam the crack with body parts. Everyone was enthusiastic about the three different sized cracks from finger width to wider known as off width demanding creative techniques like hand stacking, heel toeing, and the chicken wing. All giddy to teach while gearing up, it began to down pour. Lasting for a short while, we didn’t feel another drop the rest of the day. We all had a blast and the progress I witnessed was so rewarding, providing incentive to teach year after year.

The last night of the festival was for partying. This year we celebrated the union of two participants who met the year prior at the Adaptive Climbers Fest. I proceeded to get all gussied up in my duct tape suit for such a fancy event. My local friend Zane immediately informed me that I was head to toe in Kentucky chrome. Such a strange, but inviting ceremony with tacky attire, and even a pony ring bearer. We laughed around the campfire and danced into the night to a live bluegrass band with only the thoughts of returning next year. For those craving an epic time with empowerment, the Adaptive Climbers Fest is it!

Trevor is a dad, artist, BA Ambassador, and adventurer on a journey reaching into the unknown with every sense except sight. When not chasing his 2 ½ year old daughter, climbing cracks are his jam or chillin’ on a frozen waterfall or knee deep in powder on a snowboard. Trevor tells the story of his recent adventures at the Adaptive Climber Festival. You can follow Trevor on Instagram at @trevor_hahns_art_through_touch

Q & A WITH: Friends of the Yampa

We sat down with Executive Director Lindsey Marlow to discuss all things non-profit. A portion of the sales from our new Grayling print furniture collection will go back to Friends of the Yampa!

Q: What is Friends of the Yampa?

A: Friends of the Yampa is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit watershed group based in Northwest Colorado who’s mission is to protect and enhance the Yampa River and it’s tributaries through education, stewardship, advocacy, and partnerships.

Q: How can people get involved with Friends of the Yampa?

A: Follow us on social (@friendsoftheyampa), our email newsletters, support the wild Yampa, volunteer for our many stewardship efforts and citizen science, and spread the word about how special the Yampa is and what our organization is doing.

Q: Where are your headquarters?

A: We are based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, but our programs and efforts are throughout 7,660 square miles of watershed, including work in Moffat County and Dinosaur National Monument.

Q: What kind of precautions are taken to help manage the Yampa River?

A: Protection! Protection is key. The Yampa River has a natural hydrograph and is relatively healthy and unique in the greater Colorado River Basin. There has been very little development in this basin and many look to this river as an example of how a river should be managed, supporting a naturally vibrant environment as well as community and economy. In order to keep it that way, protecting the Yampa from degradation and development is important to ensure that the Yampa is protected from future impact as well as taking action to improve areas of the basin that need help. It’s a big river and a big job, but we love and respect this amazing and special river so therefore it is a worthy cause.

Q: How will the new Grayling chair print help the foundation?

A: Helping spread the word about the Yampa River and our organization. Big Agnes reaches a large audience of outdoor lovers, and this beautiful chair is the start of a conversation about how everyone is contributing. It will also help fund the things we do, which is most needed! We appreciate Big Agnes supporting a local organization such as ours and giving where they are located.

Bikepacking South America Solo

Venturing Alone with McKenzie Barney

Silence engulfs my surroundings. Rubber snap-crackle-pops to a halt. Here I am in South America, my fifth continent on a journey to cycle 18,000 miles on our planet. I assess my backyard for the night: 12,000 feet above sea level, high on the thin air of Bolivia’s Altiplano, on the crest of the Andes. When I started to pedal three years ago, I dreamt of this otherworldly landscape. Now here I am, spellbound by solitude, camping on the Earth’s largest salt flat.

The expansive abyss is as intoxicating as it is liberating– a feeling comparable to my years traveling by two-wheels solo. I’m unbound to any formula or rigid plans and free to roam in any direction, yet that power can at times be daunting. Yesterday I lost all form of GPS and had to resort to following old tire tracks left by overlanding vehicles. A lesson in trusting my instincts, I was forced to adapt and stay calm, all while attempting to navigate 10,000 square feet of an empty white salt canvas of salt. Long ago a prehistoric lake left behind these endless white crystals. I feel an inexplicable kinship with the Salar de Uyuni. Out here, I am completely alone.

Thousands of miles of wild camping alone has heightened my senses. My ears pick up the slightest noises– those usually unnoticed to the listener caught in a daze of constant noise. I’m beginning to understand that even the most insignificant of details can be the catalyst of awe and wonder. Melodies this morning are cued by the Salar’s grand maestro: the wind. Metal jingles against featherlite aluminum, and I realized it’s my bicycle chain lock tapping the pole it’s woven around. I find that tiny routines– such as locking my transportation vessel to my home at night– help my peace of mind as a solo female in the backcountry. Sensing a theme, it’s also the small moments that echo into eternity. The nanoscopic miracles are camouflaged to those in a hurry. But as with anything in life, take it with a grain of salt.
