The Turner Bridge Pavilion was required not only as a physical link between two locations, but as a new highly ornamented façade and canopy for the bridge. With Art-Nouveau inspirations, the pavilion is identifier, marker, icon and centerpiece for an old masonry pedestrian bridge of monotonous, static, and ordinary activities and movement. Only through stylized loudness of curvilinearity does the structures visual imagery break through the mundane surroundings to excite pedestrian’s awareness of its presence as well as experiential aspect through the interaction. The Pavilion transforms the old paths and functions as the space for exhibition, recreation, reading, round tables and rejuvenation.
