BERRY SUNSET CUSHION FINISHED SIZE: 21 x 21” (53 x 53cm)

MATERIALS: • Florence Broadhurst Fabrics - Berry Sunset Collection BIRDS OF PARADISE L01912-8 Template B - 1 piece 4 strips - 3½” x WOF for binding JAPANESE FANS L01912-2 10” square SPOTTED FLORAL L01912-4 Template B - 1 piece PARIS L01912-1 10” square 22½” x 18” and 22½” x 12” - backing

Position the two squares together with right sides facing, lining up the edges. Draw diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side. Sew a ¼” seam on both sides WILTSHIRE SHADOW MULBERRY - 5694Z of the line. Cut along the Template A - 2 pieces diagonal. Press the seams 10” square - 2 pieces open and trim finished 3”x 17½” - 2 strips HST block to 9” squares. 3”x 22½” - 2 strips • Bosal Light Fusible Batting B27140 • cushion insert Size 22 The fabric requirements is for making cushion as shown in the photograph. Before cutting review the placement of colours in case you want to make you own choices. NOTE: Stitch with ¼” seam allowance unless stated otherwise. The center panel is made up of 2 Drunkard’s Path and 2 Half Square Triangle(HST) blocks. HALF SQUARE TRIANGLE BLOCKS Take 2 squares from MULBERRY fabric. NOTE: 2 Half Square Triangles will not be used.

9”squares DRUNKARD’S PATH BLOCKS Print out templates for Drunkard’s Path and join them together and cut them out. Use smaller rotary cutter to cut curved sides. Take corresponding pieces, press each piece in half to mark the centers. With right sides facing, insert a pin aligning the center creases. Pin together edges at each end; then pin in between, gently easing edges as needed to align.

BERRY SUNSET CUSHION Sew together curved edges to make a Drunkard’s Path blocks. The key to stitching smooth curves is to take it slowly, and stop with the needle down and pivot every few stitches. Press seams towards the circle. Repeat the steps for other fabrics. Trim finished blocks to 9” squares if required.

9”squares CENTER BLOCK To assemble take 2 HST blocks and 2 Drunkard’s Path blocks and stitch them together as illustrated below.

BORDERS Square up your cushion center. Stitch one of the 3”x 17½”strips to each side of the cushion front. Stitch 3” x 22½” strips to the top and bottom of the cushion front.

3” x 22½” strips BATTING Cut Bosal Light Fusible Batting to the size of the cushion top. Iron batting and pillow top together and quilt as desired. After you finished, trim excess of any fabric or batting, squaring the cushion. BACKING Turn one long edge of the backing piece under ¼” press. Turn same long edges under 1” again and press. Topstitch folded edges to hem. Repeat for the other backing piece. Place quilted cushion top on top of the cushion back with wrong sides facing overlapping hemmed edges of cushion back pieces. BINDING Sew 3½” binding strips together end-to-end using diagonal seams. Sew binding around the cushion with mitered corners.
