ABOUT BK Bishop Kenny High School, founded in 1952, is a 4-year Catholic co-educational college preparatory school with a diverse community of 1,303 students enrolled in grades 9-12. The campus is located in Northeast Florida on the south side of the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, a growing metropolitan center with a population of more than 1.6 million people. The school is operated under the ecclesiastical auspices of the Diocese of Saint Augustine.

MISSION Rooted in Catholic values and traditions, our mission is to partner with parents in the education and formation of their children by providing a culture of faith, a rigorous curriculum, and personal enrichment opportunities through which all students can achieve and excel as they prepare for college and for life.

VISION Guided by the lessons of the Gospel, Bishop Kenny graduates will be persons of integrity, capable of making life-decisions and positive contributions to their faith, family and global communities.

FACULTY Bishop Kenny High School has a professional staff of 93 men and women, 52% of whom hold advanced degrees. The average teaching experience of the faculty is 15 years.

STUDENT BODY Bishop Kenny’s student body represents a broad range of economic, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. The school welcomes all levels of academic ability, from average to honor preparing each graduate to matriculate to an institution of higher education.

CURRICULUM AND GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Bishop Kenny High School offers an expanded college preparatory curriculum designed to meet the needs of all types of learners. The three levels of courses offered: College Preparatory, Honors and Advanced Placement are designed to challenge students academically and prepare them for admission to college. ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAM In May 2021, 787 AP exams were administered to 316 students. 82% of Bishop Kenny students taking AP exams earned a passing score. AP exams are graded on a scale of 1-5; with 3-5 considered passing grades. These classes and exams provide an additional challenge to those students who possess a high level of responsibility, are capable of independent work, and exhibit highly-developed thinking skills.
