ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP INVESTMENT FROM THE A. JAMES & ALICE B. CLARK FOUNDATION
Bishop McNamara High School is thrilled and incredibly grateful to announce an investment from the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation, the family foundation of late construction pioneer Jim Clark.
The $1,000,000 investment will establish an endowed scholarship fund to support students matriculating from tuition-free schools in Washington, DC, with an emphasis on Catholic middle schools including Washington Jesuit Academy and Washington School for Girls. This fund will help create a broader pipeline of students receiving a rigorous collegepreparatory and Catholic high school education.
Bishop McNamara enrolls 850 students annually with students graduating and attending the nation’s most competitive schools, including American University, Brown, Drexel, Harvard University, Howard University, The University of Maryland, Spelman College, Morehouse, Temple, and so many more.
Bishop McNamara will distribute funds from this endowed scholarship to as many students as possible to ensure access to a high-quality education. This scholarship will exist in perpetuity, guaranteeing funds for a lifetime. Bishop McNamara aims to leverage this investment by encouraging additional scholarship contributions from individuals and institutions, furthering the support provided to students and families accepted to BMHS from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Dr. John Barnhardt, President/CEO of Bishop McNamara, shared, “Because of the Clark Foundation, the future of Bishop McNamara and our commitment to supporting families of all socio-economic backgrounds remains strong. Our school remains a budget-conscious option for the DC region and still operates well below the per-pupil operating level of all public and charter high schools. We look forward to welcoming more students and continuing to provide a world-class Catholic education.”
