MC ied by amazing Khushaal Vyas on Monday the 13th afternoon, 1st day of parliament, back in session, meant we had a few guests who mattered, including CEOs of film agencies, India Australia Business & Community Alliance alumni, Indians in Australia High Commission execs with the Deputy High Commissioner and our producer and stars watching the film on the big screen. What an inspiring, energising highlight of our film's journey, which has just begun. After the theatrical

season, we still have weekend screenings at some iconic theatres in November and December. Jan...and Feb ...check out our website, please. Thank you, Hon. Andrew Charlton, Parliamentary

Friends of India, Sonia Sadiq Gandhi Umesh Chandra OAM”. Umesh Chandra OAM represented Brisbane Indian Times and Australian Indian Radio at the premier event. The film captures

and documents the different Modus operandi of Indian filmmakers to their counterparts in Australia. Has the regulatory framework of Australia been a deterrent in this relationship?

Life celebrates 45 years of humanitarian achievement

Life Global Australia is poised to celebrate a year of outstanding achievements. This follows the acknowledgement of 45 years of humanitarian work by Life Global Australia’s onthe-ground partner charity, Project Life. “The crusade to change lives continues,” declared Project Life Advisory Board Chair, Jaya Bachchan. As Project Life enters its 45th year, Bachchan took the opportunity to list the charity’s achievements in health, education, prisoner rehabilitation and environmental rejuvenation. Since establishing the Project Life Blood Centre in 1981, Project “Life” has delivered 690,000 units of blood and blood components. In 2020, the Centre received a prestigious ISBT Award for Developing Countries, recognizing its world-class equipment and commitment to providing scientifically validated processes. Project Life identified that the region in which it was based has a high prevalence of the blood disorder, thalassemia, and established the Life Thalassemia Prevention Centre in 1993. Thalassemia is an incurable heritable blood disorder in which there is a faulty synthesis of haemoglobin. A child who inherits the disorder from both parents is susceptible to bone deformities, delayed or stunted physical growth, lowered immunity and general weakness. To reduce the number of children likely to inherit the disorder, the Centre has now conducted 704,000 thalassemia screening tests and raised awareness of the condition and how to prevent it. Project Life’s ambitious goal is to eradicate thalassemia from the region and from India. Recognising the role of education in changing lives, Project Life has built 108 primary schools, and

empowered more than 11,000 less privileged women and widows through vocational training. In 2022, Project Life introduced a Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology through the Life Institute of Health Science. “To meet tomorrow’s challenges, we act today,” said Bachchan. This has included conducting retreats for 7041 prisoners in 22 jails and distributing 274,000 trees for revegetation of degraded environments. “Together we can make a difference,” said the Project Life Chair, noting that the organisation now has partner charities Life Global Australia, Life Global UK, Life Global Canada and Life Global USA. “Come and join us,” Bachchan said. Life Global Australia (www.lifeglobal.org. au) is proud to share in the celebration of these achievements. www.indiantimes.com.au
