Why the hell are you running for office?
While riding through the city of Dallas on a daily basis, it's appalling to look at all of the election and campaign signs that are plastered on the grounds everywhere. I look at the names posted on those signs, and I wonder what are they running for? (Nutall, Henry, Turner, Sherman, Fred Action Jackson, and Sasha Moreno. These poorly-prepared individuals come to the voting public and purport that, they have change in mind and they are going to be a new agent of change for an old system. And then eventually when the magic pixie dust has fallen on some lucky candidate, they get to the desired position, and decide they're going to become part of the old and familiar, as opposed to standing against the tide. I look at the District 9 DISD race and I see it is laughable, that these people are running for office. In my estimation, this is just my estimation but they likely don't have $9,000 between them collectively, and yet they would like to be the steward's of public trust. They are trying to represent District (9) on the school board. It's no wonder the Dallas Independent School District has been
stymied. It's tragic that they would go and spend money on signs, when we all know signs don’t vote. And then they tout endorsements from people who have done nothing for the office they represent. In all actuality someone needs to tell these individuals that signs don't vote people do, and signs don't approach people, campaigners approach people. People we have to be better stewards of our votes, and be better representatives of our community. Tell these unprepared MISFITS to stop running for office. If you are not financially prepared, not publicly prepared, not socially prepared, and not civically prepared. It is tragic the individuals we are re-electing, and re-electing. It’s apparent we're not doing good due diligence, to understand what kind of work they've done or what they have done to work in the interest of our district, and our city. It’s tragic, almost an insult to our voting power that our elected officials are MISFITS and the only time we can get them on the news is for something negative. I’m saddened about my commentary on District 9 that as a whole; they are a bunch of unprepared can-

didates, even with the incumbent running for office. They are seeking to be personally glorified by getting elected, and not fully representing those who have a vested interest in showing change by the newly elected, and might I say the incumbent to those who challenge, there is no change everybody spouting the same thing just putting a different face with it. Then it comes to the District 109 race between Carl Sherman and DeShaundra Lockhart-Jones for the people of Southern Dallas County, wake up and refrain from going to the polls, and voting for people because they have the endorsement of a past elected official who in all actuality have done nothing to support and correct, or might I say rectify the problems as it relates to ID fraud and ID theft. How has that community grown in District 109 and you got corporate warehouse jobs, with all these over-qualified white collar workers as stated at the Monday night politics by DeShaundra Lockhart-Jones? That we have educated people who have reached the Pinnacle of Education with PhDs, double PhDs and yet they're only being offered ware-
house jobs? We stand for more than entry level warehouse work. And these Chicken Shack shops, we don't need another chicken shop in the southern sector when you have a litany of them. So don't tap and holler about what you've done to bring a chicken business to the community. That's sorry politics and then the other part of it you run on somebody's endorsement and that's supposed to be the seal that would make somebody vote for you? How can you have an individual give you an endorsement, when they really haven't accomplished very much themselves, and yet because they have left here as a representative going to Austin to do a job, and yet become a celebrity? But instead of serving as a elected official, and a public representative, instead they come back to Dallas and begin a life of being socialites and celebrities. What are we doing with all the prime real estate, to bring in jobs? We have people with education that lives in our districts and they have a good household income, Masters and PhD’s, people who have good revenue-earning capacity and yet they're relegated and
limited to warehouse jobs. Our community deserves better, should get better, and going to get better when we start holding accountable elected officials and those we trust with our vote. We have to start holding them accountable to return something to our community as opposed to returning to our community as celebrities when they left here as elected officials. The southern sector is right for growth and economic development. DeShuandra LockhartJones, who is a candidate for District 109 government, is to govern as a legislator/state representative in place and make sure that those things are enforced and followed creating economic growth instead of sorry politics. And please be aware of the race for Pct. #4 Justice of the Peace race between two inexperienced and missing candidates in the likes of Sasha Moreno who have NO DESIRE TO EXPOSE THEIR POLITICS THIS IS A CHOICE BETWEEN 2 SORRY PEOPLE IN THE RACE………………. PRAY FOR SOME DELIVERANCE…………

11 On the Road with Rosales
TEXAS METRO NEWS APRIL 11, 2018 By Paula Rosales This past week, I had a chance to attend the Dallas Fire Department’s Annual Firefighter’s Gala with my good friend and supporter, State Representative Victoria Neave. We got to meet many of the 1,900 Dallas firefighters, including three assistant chiefs. This was a great opportunity to learn more about the fire department and to honor the work these men and women do in our communities. This past week has also been a busy one for my campaign team. A countywide campaign is so much more complex than most people imagine. On any given day we have people designing everything from mailers to announcements and volunteers organizing events and phonebanking or blockwalking. With only two weeks before the
Democratic Runoff Early Vote, we are looking to talking to as many voters as possible and we’re pulling out all the stops. We’re keeping up the pressure on the phones, at people’s doors and online. It’s very stressful at times but I know the reward will be there when I have the chance to continue to serve our community and work to help the lives of everyday residents. I know that our message to bring reform, innovation, and fairness to Dallas County Court at Law #4 resonates with the community; and our amazing volunteers are the key to spreading that message. Since the primary we have knocked over 10,000 doors and made about 53,000 phone calls to make sure we’ll have the support to win in a few weeks. When facing my opponent’s well-funded machine, we turn
to the grassroots to make up the shortfall in money. To be honest, I’m extremely proud of the manner in which we have built up our support and spread out message. Further, as I continue to visit numerous churches throughout Dallas County, I am amazed and inspired by the diversity in worship. We have been so blessed to have been invited by so many congregations to hear the Word of God and share our message of hope for the future of Dallas County. Being « prayed up » adds spiritual strength to my steps as I advance in this Runoff Campaign journey. Also, I have been blessed to receive the support of outstanding and fierce women, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, Commissioner Dr. Elba Garcia, Judge Elizabeth D. Frizzell, and attorneys Lisa Blue, Monique Ward,

RE-ELECT JUDGE MARTIN HOFFMAN IN THE MAY RUNOFF Solid Experience and Track Record in the Community Matter Vote Early May 14-18; Election Day May 22 You would be hard pressed to find a Judge in Dallas County who has worked harder in the community to go above and beyond regular job duties than Judge Martin Hoffman. He was a leader of the “Class of 2006” Democratic who swept Dallas County for Democrats for the first time in decades. Since then, he has earned a solid reputation
on the bench and he has mentored dozens of young people who are interested in legal careers. Judge Hoffman has been active in local high schools as a speaker and mock trial judge. He has served on dozens of committees and projects with various legal associations. He has one of the strongest internship programs among our judges, allowing students in the local community to directly observe and learn about our courts and gain insight into what it is like to be an attorney or judge. For all of this work, he has received numerous awards, including the 2017 Dallas Woman Lawyers Outstanding Jurist Award, and the 2016 JL Turner Legal Association Hon. Cleo Steele Committed Mentor Award. He has also earned the endorsements of Democratic leaders who are around the system daily and know who is doing a good job, including Senator Royce West, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, Commissioner Elba Garcia and others. It is incumbent on us, the voters, to research our judicial candidates. Did you know that literally hundreds of thousands

of people go through our justice system in Dallas County each year? For instance, it is said that Love Field is the only public building in Dallas that has more daily foot traffic than Crowley Courthouse. Our judges have a huge impact on the community in terms of lives, decisions and efficient use of taxpayer dollars. This is why experience, fairness and track record matter so much. In the race for the 68th Civil District Court, Judge Hoffman clearly has earned re-election, and his experience and track record are incomparable. Here is a look at his qualifications versus his opponent’s… JUDGE HOFFMAN has handled more than 300 civil jury trials. His opponent has handled only one civil case in the last decade. JUDGE HOFFMAN is Board Certified in Civil Law. His opponent is not board certified. JUDGE HOFFMAN is endorsed as qualified by the Dallas Committee for a Quali-
fied Judiciary. His opponent was not endorsed.
13
JUDGE HOFFMAN was recommended by the Dallas Morning News. Not recommended due to lack of experience. JUDGE HOFFMAN was a leader of the “Class of 2006” Democrats who worked with the Democratic Party to turn Dallas County blue. His opponent has no track record with the party. JUDGE HOFFMAN is endorsed by Stonewall Democrats, Preston Hollow Democrats, Metrocrest Democrats, Lake Highlands White Rock Democrats, Mexican American Democrats, Tejano Democrats, North Texas Asian Democrats, Far North Dallas Richardson Democrats, Mexican American Bar Association, Dallas Black Criminal Bar Association, and AFL-CIO Dallas. His opponent received no group endorsements.

I’ve been in law enforcement for nearly 30 years now and felt that I have been of good fortune, good enough that I could give back as a servant to my community by virtue of making change in areas of need that I see. I had no idea that this would be my career journey while growing up in Oak Cliff near the VA hospital. I come from a family of 8…8 boys that is “Better known as the Wright Boy’s (Carl, Billy, Wrin, Curtis, Lacy, Will, Jimmy, and of Course Edward (your candidate for Constable Pct#4. My parents, James and Mildred Wright raised all of us to be very respectable and kind people. I don’t think they realized we would become the sports family that we became while we were young. Along with my brothers we’d turn to sports to help guide us thru the hard times we experienced while growing up. My dad died while I was very young and my brothers took on the responsibility of raising me so I wouldn’t get caught up and become a victim of our surroundings. As one of the noted and well behaved Wright Boy’s, They instilled morals and values in me that would shape me to become the person I am this day. After graduating from South Oak Cliff high school in 1985

and attending Bishop College, I decided to apply at the Dallas County Sheriff ’s Department. I was hired as a detention officer in 1989 and in 1994 I attended the Peace Officer’s Academy. I graduated from the academy and was assigned to various divisions throughout our department. I served as a felony court bailiff, and then assigned to the warrant division where I gained extensive knowledge of criminal and civil warrant execution. I’ve trained with the FBI, Homeland Security, and US Marshall’s office during my 20 years in the warrant division. The SWAT/Tactical training I received has proven invaluable to my career. I am one of the senior training officers on our SWAT TEAM, one of the most sought after position in the Sheriff ’s dept. My experience as a De-escalation trainer and certification as a Mental Illness officer adds to my qualification that

makes me the most qualified candidate to become the next Constable. I’ve worked or trained officers in each division that the Constable’s office currently has. After working the streets for a while I started a mentoring program in 2008 called “Peace Officers for Peace”. I’ve always had a passion for helping our kids and this allowed me an opportunity to give back to the community. We mentored students, feed the homeless and taught young kids about respecting the senior citizens by volunteering to clean homes and yards. Once elected, these are the types of programs I’ll build in Precinct 4. We’ll continue to work with our disabled and seniors citizens by bridging the gaps caused by ineffective policing and implementing more visible police work in our communities. I won’t start to work in our community once elected; I’m the candidate that’s already working with our youth and seniors. No other candidate can say they’ve worked in our community as much as I have over
the years. I am a father of 6 and I am happily married to my wife Gwen Westbrook-Wright. My children range from ages5-23, Jerami, Jaida, Madyson,Jazmyn, London, and Jordyn. I’ve been a resident of Grand Prairie and Desoto since 1999. My children attended schools in Desoto and Duncanville, and they’ve worked in Cedar Hill and Glenn Heights. My mother and 3 of my brothers currently live in Precinct 4. What also separates me as the best candidate is the experience I have in managing budgets and writing policies. I’ve written policies that have been adopted into our general orders at the Sheriff ’s dept. These policies are a permanent fixture and will never change. The experience I have in managing budgets has prepared me for managing the Constable’s office budget. This is the most valuable tool a leader must possess. I am the ONLY CANDIDATE that has this qualification. Early voting starts May 14th – 18th, and the Runoff Election Day is May 22nd. I’m Edward Wright and I would greatly appreciate your support and vote as I continue to march towards the Constable’s office in Precinct 4.

Sacrifices Lead to Success
By Adrain Moffett One hour, maybe several hours can potentially to transform a child’s life and improve the learning ability. A.P.J. said it best, “Let us sacrifice our today so that our children can have a better tomorrow.” I believe when we challenge our youth academically, they are more driven towards gaining scholarships, better jobs and careers. Sacrifices truly makes a difference! As parents we make a lot of sacrifices, (I’ve made many) for our children hoping and praying for a better life and opportunities to attend college. I’m constantly amazed at how advanced in technology our younger generation has become fascinated with
S.T.E.M (science, technology, engineering, math) gadgets, etc. with the yearly rise of college tuition it’s imperative to encourage and support our future leaders to work hard to achieve academic success in the classroom with a huge focus on S.T.E.M. As a parent I can celebrate the fruits of my labor- my oldest child a Junior attending University of Texas in Arlington (UTA) an accounting major and my youngest son a Sophomore majoring in nursing at Texas A & M Commerce. We valued education, our oldest son attended and graduated from private school which was perfect for his learning style and the youngest son attended and graduated from public school, at the end of the day we need to support

our future leaders. I recall when my sons were kids, they participated in almost every sport, teaching them early in life the benefits of being a team player and conflict resolution among other life skills Moreover, without sacrifices first from the students and consistent support from their parents or guardians, it’s often fighting a losing battle, we appreciate the tirelessness from the educators not giving up. I challenge you to be an active parent in all of your child’s activities, PTA and mentoring other children, leaving no child behind. It’s necessary and an empowering experience to invest in the education of other children. Making the sacrifice and investment may include time, money, supplies, advice, etc.
For those of you that are already doing these tasks, the world appreciates your sacrifices. You are a blessing to our future leaders, continue paying it forward with your positive actions and endless sacrifices. Who will you invest in today? Who will be blessed enough to gain from your sacrifices? Be intentional and proceed quickly.
