TOM PERLITE
“Orchids!! – Everything you ever wanted to know about orchids and more!” Tom Perlite, owner of Golden Gate Orchids in San Francisco will be presenting. He has been growing orchids for the past 40 years. After receiving a degree in Botany from UC Berkeley, he started Golden Gate orchids in 1981. Golden Gate Orchids is a wholesale nursery specializing in cool growing orchids including Odontoglossum, Masdevallias, Miltonias, and Dendrobiums. Tom is an accomplished hybridizer of these genera, with many of his hybrids grown throughout the world. Tom is a retired American Orchid Society judge and has received numerous awards including Grand Champion at the Osaka International Orchid Show, the George Moore Medal, the Butterworth Prize and 8 First Class Certificates from the American Orchid Society. Tom also volunteers at City College of San Francisco in the Environmental Horticulture program, works for a few private clients and does greenhouse and orchid consulting.
You are welcome to bring any ailing orchid plants to the meeting for diagnosis and questions.
