High School KaleidoscopeThe New School Year So Far By Ananya Lamba, Junior Reporter

ummer has ended, leaving me with memories, life lessons, and friendships that will last a lifetime. I went to Costa Rica, Mexico, Boston, New Jersey, and New York. The most important trip I went on was Costa Rica. I went with a student traveling group, so I got to share my experience with several other high school students. I will never forget the days I spent relaxing on the beach, exploring the outdoors, learning about Tico culture, or the looks on the childrens’ faces after helping rebuild their community center. I have learned to enjoy life and not take everything for granted, for there are other places in the world where people are happy with the simplest of things. Materialistic things are never as important as the experiences you will have throughout your life. Most importantly, I created friendships during that trip that will last a lifetime, with pieces of my heart scattered throughout the United States and Canada. After coming back from Costa Rica, my family and I were off to Mexico, where we spent valuable time together and relaxed on the beautiful beaches of Cabo San Lucas. In New York and New Jersey, I connected with old family and friends after three years. We shared laughs, caught up with each other, and made more memories together. I love every single person there with all my heart, and I cannot wait to see them again. Boston was another important trip, for I went with my synchronized skating team, the Dublin Dolls and Dazzlers. We competed at ISI World’s competition, where we won first place in all four of our events. Another exciting event that took place over the summer was when my cousins visited from Canada for a week. We showed them around California, taking them to Yosemite, San Francisco, and around the bay area. This summer held plenty of unforgettable experiences, where I reconnected with loved ones, made new friends, embarked on exciting adventures, and saw new places.

The end of summer also brings the first day of school. The first day of school always comes with jitters, but it is also the beginning of new friendships and knowledge. On the first day of school, everyone got to know their new teachers and classmates. We attended our back to school rally where we got to watch our talented cheerleaders perform. We also listened to our amazing drum line. School rallies always unify students of all grades to celebrate our school spirit. The school also hosted a back to school dance, which was a very fun way to kick off the year. I danced for hours on end with my friends. Now I am looking forward to Halloween and the homecoming dance! I am very excited to see where this year will take me, for who knows what this year holds…
