My Christmas Wish By Linda Kralik, Resident since 1984 Berkshire Hathaway, Drysdale Properties
I
t is that time of year again. How does it come around so quickly? First there is Halloween, the change to standard time and we all feel so much better because we got an extra hour of sleep. Then we begin planning for the Great Turkey binge on Thanksgiving Day with scores of leftover meals, the last being Turkey Vegetable Soup. Ah, those pilgrims have nothing on us when it comes to a bountiful table on Thanksgiving Day! And then comes The Big ONE‌..Christmas! It is good that there are almost always 30 days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, you will need every one of those days to prepare for the Big One. There are gifts to buy, Christmas letters to mail out (before Dec. 10th, if you want your friends and family to see your card before the 25th!); purchase party dresses and attend all of the numerous festive parties; preparing the list for the preparation of Christmas Dinner, and so on and so forth. We are besieged with invitations or pressed into service to help out at school or to work with your favorite charity. It is a time when you feel guilty if you say no. And how could you? You do not want to be associated with Scrooge or The Grinch! The sourpuss of sourpusses! No, of course not!!! So you move forward, racing to accomplish all of the numerous tasks and
maybe, just maybe, you forget the real reason for the holiday. It is Not about the parties. It is Not about the gifts or presents. It is Not about the dinner on Christmas day. It is Not about any of these. It is about Faith and Hope and Love. Faith of all kinds, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhism and any other faith or belief I have not mentioned. Hope that within our Faith we can find a way to embrace others in the Hope of peace and prosperity. To be humble in our Faith so as to allow others to their beliefs. Love, and be loved. Love others unconditionally. Accept them as you wish to be accepted. Give love to those that need it the most and you will find peace in yourself. So this is my Christmas Wish to you, my fellow Blackhawk Community; May Faith, Hope and Love follow you in the New Year.
Merry Christmas Linda Kralik
