TSU PROFESSOR DENIES SLANDERING STUDENT ACTIVIST IN HER CLASSROOM Allegedly, for several weeks, a Political Science Professor at Texas Southern University, Professor Sherridan Schwartz, has been attacking the student, Nikki Luellen, in her classes. Several students who witnessed Schwartz behavior told Nikki Luellen what was happening. The students said that Professor Schwartz told her classes that she googled the student and found out she was a theatre major and said the student was using activism to make a movie reel for an acting job. Schwartz called Luellen a troublemaker and an attention seeker. She also showed videos of Nikki Luellen at the Board of Regents and tried to demonize her to the students to make it appear as if the student was out of control. Luellen then confronted Professor Schwartz about her behavior and she stated that she didn’t know who Nikki Luellen was and avoided answering her questions directly. Professor Schwartz was aware that Nikki Luellen was recording and agreed to go on record. This is the transcript of the conversation that occurred between Nikki Luellen and Professor Schwartz: Nikki Luellen: So, you’re saying that you showed the video…So you showed a Congress – Professor Schwartz: I’m sorry you’re upset but you don’t have to Nikki Luellen: I’m not upset, I’m just asking you. Professor Schwartz: There’s no reason for us to continue this discussion. Nikki LuelleN: you’re not saying that you called me a troublemaker or anything but you’re saying that you showed the video. Ok, the video of where I was in it. Professor Schwartz: Yeah - that’s - I’m assuming that’s you, I’m assuming. You’re saying Congressman Lewis video, so I showed the whole thing. Nikki Luellen: So, what the students are saying - several students are coming to me saying you’re calling me a troublemaker. You’re saying that’s not true, that you never said that. Professor Schwartz: What I’m saying is that, I’m sorry you’re upset and that’s it. You can record me saying, I’m sorry to hear you’re upset but this is political science. Nikki Luellen: So, you never called me a troublemaker? So, you never called me a troublemaker? You did or you didn’t call me a troublemaker? (Professor Schwartz put her earbuds in, looked at her computer and didn’t respond.) Either the students were lying on Professor Schwartz or Professor Schwartz was lying to Nikki Luellen and didn’t think the students would tell Luellen what was happening. We are not accusing Professor Schwartz of these actions but we know that something is going on when students from different class periods, who do not know each other, say the same thing about what Professor Schwartz is saying about Nikki in her classroom. All we ask is that Professor Schwartz just tell the truth and not attack Nikki Luellen again in her classes. If Professor Schwartz did say those things about Nikki Luellen, then it makes her unprofessional, petty, disingenuous and dangerous. How can a Professor take out time to try to publicly embarrass and demonize a student she does not know to other students in her class and then turn around and lie about it?

THE STATE OF AMERICA Today, more and more people are becoming fed up with the system of white supremacy and have taken their frustrations to the streets to demand change. The American people are sick and tired of their local elected officials offering no solutions to the deplorable conditions they find themselves in. Recently, there has been a surge of protesters at City Hall in Houston, TX, demanding justice and equality for Black people. The atmosphere in America is one of anger, hurt and disappointment. The American people are tired of being lied to, poisoned, miseducated and having their loved ones shot down in the streets and brutally murdered.
RECENT NEWS On Saturday, November 12, 2016, Ray Tensing, the officer who brutally murdered an unarmed black man, Samuel Dubose, case was ruled a mistrial. The jury consisted of ten whites and only two blacks.
WHAT IS COINTELPRO AND DOES IT STILL EXIST TODAY? COINTELPRO (counter intelligence program) was an illegal program set up by the FBI and headed by J. Edgar Hoover in 1967 to infiltrate, discredit and disrupt activist organizations. This program was used to take down Black organizations and activists. People targeted by this abusive tactic by the FBI have been Dr. King, Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey and the UNIA, the Black Panthers and many others radical groups and people. The FBI used COINTELPRO against Black activists by demonizing their movement, by calling the leaders in the organization troublemakers and trying to discredit them to other black people. The was a very deceptive but effective tactic because they used Black FBI agents to do it. Below we have provided some of those tactics that the FBI used to try and neutralize Black activists and other revolutionary organizations. “…it should also be a goal of the Counterintelligence Program to pinpoint potential TROUBLEMAKERS and neutralize them before they exercise their potential for violence.” Keep in mind the word “troublemakers”. That is the code word they use when they are targeting an activist! “PREVENT MILITANT BLACK NATIONALIST GROUPS AND LEADERS FROM

GAINING RESPECTABILITY…You must discredit those groups and individuals to, first, the responsible Negro community. Second, they must be discredited to the white community, both the responsible community and to "liberals" who have vestiges of sympathy for militant black nationalist simply because they are Negroes. Third, these groups must be discredited in the eyes of Negro radicals, the followers of the movement. A final goal should be to prevent the long-range GROWTH of militant black organizations, especially among youth. “ The goal of the COINTELPRO is to discredit the activist from the rest of the black community and the white community and finally to other activists. Black agents are still hired to do this type of work. Finally, COINTELPRO wants to prevent the rise of militant Black organizations of young people because that would threaten white supremacy. The government does not want young black people to stop fighting one another and start fighting on behalf of their people. The government used Black people to infiltrate black movements and discredit them because they knew that they could not send in a white person to destroy the black activists but they had to use a coon to get the job done. This coon behavior is still in effect right now. Just look at how these black athletes spoke against Colin Kaepernick when he protested the National Anthem by kneeling. Across America, at universities, in professional sports, Hollywood, TV shows, law enforcement etc., whenever there is a radical black person or organization, Black coons are placed there to try and discredit them and make the activist appear to be, “troublemakers” who are “dangerous” and should not be trusted. This is a devise tactic to isolate the activist and neutralize them.
WHITE SUPREMACY PROVES WINNER IN 2016 ELECTION!!!!!! The fact that Donald Trump is President just proves that America is racist as hell. Don’t get me wrong, Hillary Clinton is no better. It was the Clintons that supported mass incarceration of Black people and Hillary Clinton called black men, “super predators with no conscience that should be brought to heel.” Either choice was a bad one and Americans were left to literally pick the lesser of two evils.

After the election, some black people have blamed their own race for not showing up to go vote. The black race is not the blame for Trump’s win nor are the whites that voted for Trump. The real blame is the foundation of America, that is based on white supremacy. When you have a country where Black people are being murdered by police and only 3% of those murders led to any conviction and no officer have been found guilty of murder, then the country itself is racist as hell. When you have black elitists like Lil Wayne, Stacey Dash, Charles Barkley and Young Thug (a few examples) who defend white supremacy and have separated themselves from any form of black activism, then the country is racist itself. For 8 years, the President of America was a black man who called the black people rioting in Ferguson, “thugs and criminals”. So, what do we expect? Why should black people be upset that Trump won over Hillary Clinton when both don’t care about Black people? In America, black people have made no significant progress and we are still being shot down by police, living in poverty, have poor education and own less than 1% of the wealth in America. Instead of Black people blaming each other for not voting, or blaming black people for voting for the third party, we should come together against this entire system and support one another. No significant changes have been made in America without the people demanding change. It is time for us to stop begging someone to care about us and bring about a revolution in this country ourselves, by adopting the philosophy of Black nationalism, which is justice, supporting black businesses, educating the youth and educating ourselves about Black history. No one has held these black democrats responsible for their lack of concern for the black community. We have not said we are going to stop supporting these rappers who talk about sex, drugs, alcohol and killing their own but cannot even stand up to say they are against police brutality and racism. When a black democrat and anyone for that matter do not say, and do anything for our community, we should STOP supporting them. Yes, we are in trying times but we must stand up. 6

This is not time for the blame game but for black folks to unify against all this corruption in government and all forms of white supremacy. We need to stop supporting sellout black people who promote ignorance and buffoonery and support Black power!
JACK YATES THEATRE DEPT. ADDRESSES GUN VIOLENCE The Jack Yates Theater Department put on a masterful show called, Gun Violence: The New Normal. The show was an original production written by the students. Theatre director, Mrs. Hickman, said the show came to be about because a student suggested they do a play about Black Lives Matter and the police violence against black people with impunity. Ms. Hickman accepted the challenge and the students talked about gun violence in many different scenarios. Students performed short skits, spoken word poetry and ended the play with a song. They talked mainly about police violence and domestic abuse. The play had some students whose loved ones were victims of gun violence and some students were in tears after the show. At the end of the production, the students put up their fist to show unity, power and triumph over gun violence. The play was creative, insightful and inspiring. The Principal of the school was very moved by the production and looks forward to the students performing the show again on a larger scale. THE SKIN I’M IN BOOK REVIEW The Skin I’m In, by Sharon G. Flake, was a powerful and inspiring novel that dealt with the issues of self-esteem, bullying, violence and broken communities. The story was told from the life of a seventh grader, Maleeka Madison, who had to deal with being bullied because of her dark skin. Almost all the students that went to her school dealt with self-esteem issues because of the environment they were in. Many of the students were failing school and dealing with problems at home, that was most of time, out of their control. The teachers seemed to have given up on 7

the children but one teacher, Miss Saunders, saw something special in Maleeka and gave her the confidence she needed. She began to embrace her skin color and love who she was. She began to stand up against the people bullying her and she also found herself through writing. The Skin I’m In, was a powerful story, not only for young black women but for people of all ages who have struggled with bullying, self-esteem and not fitting in. This book is a good reminder about the importance of good teachers, mentorship and overcoming adversity. NEW STAGE PLAY: THE CRACKER AND THE COON The Cracker And The Coon: American History Abridged, is a stage play that covers the oppression of Black people in America from Slavery to Convict Leasing and Mass Incarceration. This play also offers the perspective of the Black COON, The Activist and the white man himself. This play is a one woman show that encompasses slam poetry, dramatic monologues and powerful excerpts from prominent leaders such as Louis Farrakhan, W.E.B DuBois, Michelle Alexander and Marcus Garvey. This is a gripping and dramatic tale about the true Nature of Amerikkka, that highlights the Cracker and the Coon! 8
