Youth tonic, defined as the youth culture currently influencing every area of the market, with a strong sense of individuality and creativity, is being looked at as one of the most influential trends for S/S18. When we were given this theme as the basis for our final graduating collection, my first instincts were to search for my very own personal and most intimate definition and experience of youth. Growing up in a Christian and protected environment, I finally got the chance to experience life as I see it when I headed to Seoul for the pursue of my own visions and dreams. It was during my time there that I experienced youth and vitality, a kind that went way beyond the surface of just being young and youthful. Together with my discovery of hip-hop music, in which would eventually grant me life-changing experiences, my time in S. Korea, though filled with rough patches and mistakes, was undoubtedly the start to the peak of my youth; fueling experiences and memories that would spark and ignite a significant sense of youthfulness whenever I look back, regardless of how old I have become. This intimate and important significance of youth in my life thus became the main inspiration to the birth of my concept. Growing up, I have always loved watching crime and action movies such as The Matrix or Kill Bill and most recently the neonoir genre with its sleek crime themes and stylistic visual elements. For my editorial with photographer Jiraphong Bank Srijunyanont, we took our inspiration, influence, style and mood from these movies, creating a story and an imagination about a lone assassin from a futuristic foreign land trained with and possessing superb and rare fighting skills. Pale-faced, torn samurai fusion clothing and a wrecked plane, our assassin had just survived yet another life-threatening battle and is reflecting and pondering on the conflicting surge of emotions which gave rise to at the end of each recent fights: the relieve to have survived yet another day versus the reluctance to yet again, go through another battle of assassination and killing in order to survive.

INSPIRATION In order to move forward, I was inspired to go back to the roots of what shaped and defined the cultural Identity of hip-hop music as it is today in Korea which brought me all the way back to the Bronx in the 1970’s. A city in a period of decline, yet a place where artists were breaking music apart and rebuilding it for a new era.Hip Hop was born, modern music was reinvented, laying the foundations for cultural eras to follow. Without neglecting the original tradition of Korea, I was also inspired by the Hanbok, the traditional Korean clothing made mostly from silk. characterised by vibrant and simple lines. Blending a mix of the tough, gang-grafitti filled hip-hop era of te Bronx with the soft, gentle and refined traditions of Joseon whilst maintaining the unique and distinct spirit of populat culture in Korea today, it is my desire to create a collection with a whole new sense of aesthetic and sound that can transcend the cultural and age borders of our generation today.

Andrés Fegara, 21 years old. London. I did a degree in Audiovisual Communication in the autonomous University of Barcelona, in which I studied photography, among other visual studies. After, I specialized in fashion in the school of advertising and fashion photography, Fotodesign. Ever since I can remember, creating a vision or story using just a camera amazed me. When I was an early teen, I used to have my younger siblings star in music videos I’d produce or be my own models in photo-shoots. Instead of doing my school homework, I spend my hours behind the camera shooting photos and videos, and then clumsily postproducting my little creations. I started my university degree without being very clear what I wanted my destiny to be. I wanted to discover which disciplines from the audiovisual industry I would most like, until in the third year I knew with certainty that photography was what made me feel most gratified. STYLE Warm. Serene. Natural. Unconsciously I seek in my photography a beauty influenced by the classical pictorial art. It is my greatest source of inspiration. And I think it makes a lot of sense, because I’ve always said that what I do is painting with light. With this editorial my intention was to create two opposing but complementary atmospheres. One scenario is more pure and clean. Heaven. The other, however, holds more darkness, but no less beauty. Hell. One of the most important elements of the editorial is the chromatism. In my work the role of colours is fundamental since they help me to create universes and ambiances that give depth to my stories. In this sense, artists like Collin Dogson or Chloe le Drezen are some of my greatest inspirations. Matt Lambert is a big reference to me as well, since I also sought to traverse the masculine body through a feminine sensibility that enhanced virility and sensuality. This editorial meant a before and after in my career. Not only was it my first publication in a fashion magazine, but it also helped me find myself as a photographer, my style. I believe that identity is something very important for artists: to know who we are, what we do and what we want to do. Therefore, with each of our works and productions, we seek to know ourselves a little more, and share it with the world.

Make every day count.

ACHIEVEMENT Until recently, my dream was to share my passion and my work with a wider audience than just my circle of friends; I imagined my photos published in an international medium, or fashion magazines showing interest in publishing my work. Not long after, it happened. For a photojournalism project at college, I made a portrait for the director of the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology from my university, Jordina Belmonte. The photograph was published featuring an interview of her in an important Spanish newspaper, La Vanguardia. That was the first achievement in my early career. I remember that I had already got into the amazing world of fashion, and I was surrounded by plenty of references and fashion images from online and printed magazines, so my next goal was to develop as a professional and to enhance the quality of my work to be able to publish in those magazines I followed. So, at the time when some of them showed interest in sharing my work in their platforms, I could not be more grateful. NEXT For now, I want to continue growing as an artist. I want to keep creating stories and experiment with different narratives, fashion influences and visual techniques. Little by little, I want to develop my style and create my name as a photographer. Likewise, it is also important for me to progress as a professional, and to start working with designers, new talents and brands. One of my next goals would be to get to be represented by a talent agency. Still, I believe there are plenty of experiences to come, and I want to enjoy every stage of my career. I am a very ambitious person, my ultimate goal as a photographer would be to work for respected brands of the fashion industry. Also, when the time comes, I want to introduce the direction of photography and cinematography to my career by directing fashion films and being involved in the audiovisual production of fashion advertising campaigns. My motto in life is to make every day count. Make each day a little closer to where you want to be in life. That means work, perseverance and sacrifice. I am lucky that, despite how young I am, I am clear about what I want my professional future to be. Still, I’m not closed to anything, since we really do not know what the future holds. I just want to get carried away and enjoy the road.

My name is Charly V Real and I am a photographer, I am from a small town in the province of Misiones, Argentina, it is a beautiful place, surrounded by giant araucárias (enromes pines) and a lot of jungle, a place that clearly inspired me to always look for the scenarios more beautiful that always take me to my land. I studied film at the University of Buenos Aires, here in Argentina, I specialized in fashion photography 4 years after starting the race thanks to the wise advice of a teacher, who advised me to specialize in fashion since I understood that this was the path that I had to travel. In what are almost ten years of career I have learned and lived incredible experiences in this work, which only means that what will come will be enormous and I know that I will achieve incredible things, I hope you are great colleagues in the future. As I told you, I studied film and in the crusade I listened to the advice of a teacher who told me that I should specialize in Fashion photography, so here I am, answering questions about my profession. STYLE I would describe it as delicate and full of action, too much texture thanks to the overflow of joy that gives me to do this! In Buenos Aires in this last time they made several installations in different parks of the city. It occurred to me that an ideal mix between a good model, texture in clothes and the works would be ideal and a perfect equation for a good editorial and so it was “REFLEXES” Usually when I start a new project I have many images in my head of how I want the photos to remain, once on the set or at the location, everything changes, this production was not the exception. Anyway, with city heat, little time to take photos and problems with the clothes, we took the pictures in two and a half hours, I love working fast, I do not like to take long.

That everything returns, and always, twice!

My name is Michael Oliver Love, I’m 22 years old and based in Cape Town, South Africa. I am a self taught photographer with an educational background in English literature & gender studies. I have always been in love with fashion editorials since a young age. Would love picking up the latest Glamour or Marie Claire from the local newsstand and flip to see what beautiful images were shot that month. It wasn’t till I was about 17 that I realized that I could also try my luck at taking beautiful images if I really wanted to. So I picked up a camera and started shooting my friends and just grew from there. These days my photography focuses on men, looking into deconstructing modern masculinity and presenting a more gentle, soft and vulnerable side to my models. I am obsessed with the beige, brown, sandy colour palette which I was very inspired by for this shoot. From the leather to the wood panel floors and the boys skin it was just a dream come true. I am planning on going full-time photography from next year so I am excited to have more time to focus on bettering my craft. My ultimate goal is to continue to take beautiful images with a positive and progressive message. My can check out my work on my Instagram @michaeloliverlove

Collaborations with Hugo Boss, Adidas, Marchesa, Inglot Cosmetics. I started my photography when I was 15 years old and then I understood that this form of art is my propose of life. I do pictures every day whatever it is - fashion, celebrity, architecture or portraits of people on the streets, I just want to capture every beautiful moment of this life. My style in photography is eclectic of fashion and cinematography. I want to tell a story on every picture, that’s why I am very attentive to emotions of model who I photographing, interrelation between him/ her and the background, make the viewer feel the full immersion to the atmosphere. This photoshoot is a short story about 20 years old New York citizen.Nikita is a young artist with big perspectives, launching his first exhibition in the beginning of 2018. During his modeling career he took every experience as an inspiration for his art - from test shootings to the All Saints campaign. On these pictures I wanted to show his real emotions and feelings as an artist and a young man. The photo shoot was near the MoMA museum. That place is inspiring and breathtaking, we have got lots of ideas for our next projects what was very memorable for both of us. I have exiting plans for future, for now that is a big secret what will be next, I always keep going to achieve my goals, so stay tuned to see more amazing work which you do not expect! So I have never had an ultimate goals, I will never want to stop. My name is Victor Hugo, I️ am 24 years old and from San Francisco. I️ graduated from the Academy of Art University in 2016. I️ always knew I️ wanted to work in a creative field, specifically fashion or music, but I wanted to learn something new and photography allows me to merge fashion and music so it was perfect. I️ like to think that my work is clean, with like a slight edge. The shoot was inspired by a few songs, two of them being “Water Me” by FKA Twigs and “The Floyd Song (Sunrise)” by Miley Cyrus. Both the songs have like these themes of loneliness but also about overcoming/accepting the loneliness Every shoot is an experience, whether you’re working with the same team or a new team. This one in particular was interesting watching the make up artist apply flower petals to the model’s eyebrows. My greatest achievement so far would be getting published in international magazines like in Germany and the Philippines. They might not be Vogue but that’s the next step! I have plans on moving from San Francisco to New York City in the next year but we’ll see what God has in his plans. I need to work with Rihanna sometime. She’s my absolute fave and such a huge inspiration. My website is vichugo.com and you guys can follow me on Instagram at “victorhugo.jpg”

Resbon Despi, 23 years old, a Fine Arts graduate based in Cebu City, Philippines. I got into styling back in highschool when Nicola Formichetti was still working with Lady Gaga as her stylist. I look up to some designers because of the structure of the garments and the way it’s put together. My style is basically street, anti-luxe urban, second-hand garments and over the top layering. I wanted to challenge and push myself to try something unconventional. I like weird and cheap stuff then turn it into my own aesthetic. In this editorial, my inspiration was using a strong subject against light elements. In the nearest future I want to venture out in making my own clothes that gives them a new perspective in clothing and how to present themselves to feel good and look good particularly in Cebu. I always believe that you just have to do it.

I am always interested in different types of art, creating and understanding art in general. I can say my interest in photography started when I am working with various photographers in Los Angeles as a stylist and creative director for their shoots. After a couple years of doing it, I told myself that I wanna get noticed and be in the spotlight coz most shoots I did honestly, the photographers are only the one who get credited. That motivated me to switch course and be the one whose taking photos for the models and the rest is history. STYLE I always describe my style as these three words: raw, imperfections, moody. Even my main focus is male models, i still have some female subjects. But male subjects for me are the hardest to shoot and have a variety of range that you can explore. Because normally male subjects always get to shoot in underwear or suits but since i can say that i am part of the “new wave” photographers that breaks all the rules of photography - my range on shooting male subjects are endless. You just need to pick a perfect subject for a perfect style of shoot. Otherwise it can go cheesy and cheap. INSPIRATION For this shoot, I know Ben is a young kid. I immediately go on what his vibe is. More youthful, fun prints and yet classy. My shoots are always have the vintage and classic vibe to it- styling and shoot wise. Memorable indeed because me and Ben became friends after the shoot coz not a lot of my subjects becomes my friend. Also this is new to Ben in terms of style and shoot. As of now, just getting to shoot a couple of young actors and good fashion male models. I am still new to this industry (2yrs) and Im still waiting for just one big break that I can claim my greatest achievement in this field. Whats next for me? I just finished my 1st (black and whites) and 2nd wave (colors) of my process in photography and also finished my first exhibition recently. Hopefully, I will get to have a solo exhibition soon and Im gonna start my 3rd wave - groups and editorials.

Never give up on your dreams!

EDITORIAL

Two friends meet again on Gran Via street (Madrid). Just there they run into a beautiful girl. The girl decides to win over one of the boys while the other boy takes her hand and tries to captivate her with his dance. I was discovered as a model in Colorado with my brother. My cousin was modeling for Wilhelmina. She told us to try her agency, so we walked in and we pretty much got hired the next day. I never saw myself as a model. I never thought about it. It’s just something I decided to do alongside of what I was doing in school. I kind of want to do a James Bond role or a Kingsman role. Something action but rugged as well. I was in school and then I did real estate for a while and then I started internationally modeling so I was traveling a little bit. Shortly after internationally modeling, I got into the TV show, Pinoy Big Brother PBB has changed my life quite a bit. I mean I have a following now. I’m trying to get a little bit into acting and show business. Definitely it has made me more of myself. I get to come out and be myself now.

CEBU I was in the city for just one day. It was clean and quiet. I stepped out of the plane and you could breath fresh. It’s definitely a lot quieter that here [Manila]. Everybody was super inviting, friendly, and really actually relaxed compared to some of the other places I’ve been. I want to go back and I want explore. I heard there are good hiking areas and surfing spots. I heard there are a lot of fun stuff to do. And I love doing outdoor stuff so I want to do those. I didn’t get the chance to explore it that much. There aren’t any places that I want to go back to but there are places that I’d definitely want to go to in Cebu. It’s been difficult since I got out of the house (Pinoy Big Brother) especially because the work’s been very busy so it’s hard to balance fitness, friends and everything. Really, I just try use my free time as best as I can between working out and seeing friends.

There are a lot of crazy things, actually. I’ve been scratched because somebody was trying to claw me. I’ve also had stuff thrown at me before! I think a fan threw a water bottle from the second floor trying to get my attention. I think those were probably the craziest things. NEXT I’ve worked with Penshoppe since before I got into the TV show. I loved the brand before and I love it even more now. And I think it’s amazing to be part of it now as an ambassador together with a lot of good friends as well. It’s fun! I mean, we get to represent our own style through Penshoppe! Syempre, thank you for all of their support, definitely for being so inviting, for coming, and joining us when we were there. Also, they are probably some of the most chillest and relaxed fans I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you for being so chill around me!
