Welcome to May and the beautiful weather that is expected with it! There has been lots of May showers which have been unexpected, hopefully the weather will clear, so we could all have a splendid day with our loving mothers. May has a lot in store for Key Club as we prepare for our End of the Year Banquet where we are honor our committed members for the service they provided during this school year. We are also looking forward to ending off the service year with our KFamily Ice Cream Social. We are feeling bittersweet because a new service year means a farewell to the old board but a welcoming entrance to our newly elected board. We wish the best for our newly elected board and hope that they continue to grow Key Club to its fullest potential.

Talking about showers, how about the amazing opportunity to wash some cars. On May 20 Key Club we will participate in a Car Wash held at the Board of Education Building. This will be an opportunity for many members to complete their 20 hours. To stay up to date with the Car Wash and many other service opportunities make sure to stay connected with our trustworthy Remind and Google Classroom.

As your new Editor I hope to connect with all service members on a deeper level and create great friendships. As always check Google Classroom and stay on top of any new events that we may provide in the future. This school year is coming to an end, but we must all stay focused on our goals.

With Great Care, Mateo Llano

Town-wide Clean Up Recap

Members from our K family attended a Townwide, clean up. There were members from Kiwanis, Key Club advisors, Key Club members and Builder Club Advisors. The members of the Builders Club all took part in helping to clean up the fields in the pass along the middle school. It was a truly a team effort and we couldn't have done it without all the Key Support.

ADVOCACY FOCUS

Health Conditions & Disease Awareness

Cardiovascular Disease

Our Advocacy Focus is a way for us to raise awareness for specific relevant issues. This year, we are focusing on various prevalent diseases in America. For the past couple months, we focused on Alzheimer's Disease Awareness, and for April, we are focusing on Cardiovascular Disease. Being the leading cause of death for men and women in the U.S., heart disease is a huge issue afflicting people of all ages. In February with our Drop N'Dine event, we were able to raise money for the Ethan Lindberg Foundation, an organization supporting those with Congenital Heart Defects (heart defects present at birth). Just last month, we raised money for the Ronald McDonald House charity which provides housing and other resources to children battling with pediatric illness.

Stay tuned for future service opportunities related to this cause!

District Project

Education is Key!

The District Project is a way for Key Club to make active steps at making a change in the lives of students. This year our District Project is centered around providing the necessary means for a student to reach their academic potential and grow as an individual. So far, we have achieved this through our Key Traits 4 Kids field trips, and in February, we held our Week of Service.

Fill out the form below to nominate a member of Key Club for their continued work and dedication to service. We will post the member with the most votes on our Instagram and in our district or Key News Newsletter!
