City Centre Let’s start with the basics, shall we? The city centre contains Copenhagen’s unmissable bits in one beautiful and manageable knot of streets and alleys. Enjoy royal palaces, Tivoli and world-class shopping, as well as top sights such as colorful Nyhavn and The Little Mermaid. Copenhagen’s most-famous sights are all within walking or cycling distance in the historical city centre.
Originally, Nyhavn was a busy commercial port where ships from all over the world would dock. The area was packed with sailors, ladies of pleasure, pubs and alehouses. The famous Danish fairytale writer, Hans Christian Andersen, used to live in no. 20. This is where he wrote the fairy-tales ‘The Tinderbox’, ‘Little Claus and Big Claus’, and ‘The Princess and the Pea’. He also lived twenty years in no. 67 and two years in no. 18.

Sono una nota accumulatrice di oggetti da mercatino, lavoro sempre trasportata da istinto ed emozione, nella mia testa avevo dei punti specifici che volevo fossero le colonne portanti del mio spazio. Prima di tutto volevo che fosse accogliente, come una abitazione. Desideravo anche che la
prima sensazione fosse quella di un giardino magico, circondato da un bosco… il mio habitat preferito. Il colore delle pareti volevo che fosse verde, verde bosco, ma al momento della scelta mi sono resa conto che nella mia stessa via c’era il negozio di un’artigiana tutto verde, precisamente “verde tavolo da biliardo”, allora ho pensato di virare il tono su un verde muschio scuro, ma

Ho cercato delle poltrone vintage color rosa cipria per mesi, le aveva mia nonna in salotto e le ho sempre sognate per il mio spazio. Una volta trovate e posizionate con il color petrolio di sfondo erano
meravigliose. Il contrasto è stimolante e si sposano bene anche con i sassi e i mattoni a vista delle pareti. I mobili che ho inserito sono quasi tutti recuperati tra la cantina del nonno e i mercatini dell’usato. Lo stile degli arredi è stato scelto in base allo spazio. Sono un’appassionata di mobilio, amo lo stile nordico, ma dovetti scartarlo, prima di tutto perchè già visto per un “negozio di fiori”; inoltre a Sarzana la Via Fiasella

In bella mostra su un vecchio scrittoio tengo i vasi con i fiori freschi della settimana, invece una nicchia nel muro l’ho riservata ai fiori secchi e uno scaffale da parete minimale sfoggia terrarium, giradischi e vinili.

On display on an old desk I keep the vases with the fresh flowers of the week, while I have reserved a niche in the wall for the dried flowers and a minimal wall shelf splurges some terrarium, a record player and my vinyls.

L’altra stanza invece è il salottino per ricevere gli sposi e i clienti. Vi è poi un mobile da bar anni ‘30 della bisnonna dove tengo in esposizione artigianato esclusivamente prodotto da donne legate da un unico filo conduttore:
“la natura”. Tutto lo spazio è invaso dalle piante da interni che danno la sensazione di essere quasi in una serra vestita a salotto, alle pareti stampe botaniche, cornici dorate e dipinti di fiori vintage.

trasformazione della forma fisica della città a livello della grande scala urbana, le migliori esperienze architettoniche si sono concentrate sulla “riqualificazione” di piccoli pezzi di citta, spesso attraverso la sostituzione di un

quartiere o di un isolato dopo l’altro, seguendo le dinamiche della trasformazione socioeconomica della città. Tra gli ultimi e migliori esempi di quanto sopra descritto potremmo citare la Axel Towers; dove si cristallizzano appunto in maniera evidente le tematiche sopra espresse. Se da una parte la disposizione planimetrica del nuovo edificio nell’isolato è stata influenzata dai frontali giardini di Tivoli e dai retrostanti isolati edificati con la creazione
di altezze differenziate, dal basso (verso Tivoli) verso l’alto, dall’altra parte, la forma dell’edificio si riallaccia solo lontanamente al contesto urbano, alla sua materia ed al suo linguaggio, per strutturarsi invece maggiormente come se fosse un manufatto di industrial design; in questo caso la scelta del materiale dominante e le modalità del suo utilizzo sono utilizzate per evidenziarne l’iconicità. Su questa linea si pone un altro eccellente esempio di architettura che è rappresentato

Anche qui l’uso del materiale serve a sottolinearne la composizione “astratta”.
Qui forse la dicotomia tra “pezzo di design”, la cui sapiente scelta dei materiali serve a sottolinearne simbolicamente l’idea e la distribuzione planimetrica influenzata principalmente dal water-front e successivamente sia dalla città di pietra che sta alle sue spalle che dall’arteria stradale, appare ancora più marcata ed evidente, oltre che risolta in maniera eccellente.
Variazione sul tema di quanto detto sopra è il Krøyers Plads, un progetto di edilizia residenziale di cinque piani sempre sul waterfront di Copenaghen, dove questa volta invece la caratterizzazione materica, fatta attraverso il recupero dei mattoni rosso scuro tipici della città ottocentesca, si inserisce come elemento linguistico forte di richiamo alla tradizione.

I paesaggi della mente Osservando i tuoi paesaggi della mente della serie “I Quadri” mi sono immaginata il Grand Tour, il grande viaggio che i ricchi giovani aristocratici europei facevano in Italia durante il XVII secolo. Cosa ti ha spinto a immortalare questi paesaggi rurali? Ho sempre amato le fotografie di paesaggio, mi piace guardare le foto bellissime dei
grandi paesaggi fatte da abilissimi fotografi; fotografie scattate in posti meravigliosi e lontani. Io non ho viaggiato molto e le volte che l’ho fatto sono andato per il viaggio e non per le fotografie. Così ho lanciato una sfida a me stesso fare “i paesaggio” di casa. Un paesaggio normale che abbiamo sempre sott’occhio e quindi in qualche modo difficile da valorizzare.
Looking at your landscapes of the mind from the “I Quadri” series, I imagined the Grand Tour, the great journey made in Italy by the rich young European aristocrats during the 17th century. What prompted you to capture these rural landscapes? I have always loved landscape photography, I like to look at the beautiful photos of great landscapes made by very
skilled photographers; photographs taken in wonderful and distant places. I didn’t travel much and when I did it I was more interested in the trip itself and less in taking pictures. So I challenged myself to “make the landscape” at home. A normal landscape that we always have in sight and is, therefore, in some way difficult to

I giardini di Tivoli sono un rinomato parco divertimenti che è sito nel centro della città di Copenaghen, aperto nel lontano 1843 originariamente chiamato “Tivoli & Vauxhall”; Tivoli come le Jardin de Tivoli di Parigi e come i giardini di Tivoli-Roma, e “Vauxhall” si riferiva ai Vauxhall Gardens di Londra.
Sin dalla sua apertura fu un grande successo, erano moltissime le attrazioni, dai giardini in stile esotico ai concerti, agli incantatori di serpenti, ai ballerini ed acrobati e già a fine 800 era presente un ristorante e un bazar in stile moresco, il Nimb, ora anche hotel di lusso. Ad esempio, nella zona dedicata alle essenze mediterranee ci sono palme, yucca, ulivi, agave, oleandri e agrumi che non potendo sopravvivere ai duri inverni danesi, la temperatura scende anche a -10°, vengo quindi spostati ogni anno a fine stagione in serre speciali per poi essere rimessi a dimora l’anno successivo.

Il lago Tivoli è una delle zone più panoramiche dei giardini e nelle zone adiacenti alla grande Pagoda e alle barche flottanti, vengono coltivate in masse piante dal sapore esotico come camelie, rododendri, aceri, salici piangenti e bambù. L’immaginario esotico che arrivava dai lontani paesi dell’Estremo Oriente fece costruire nel 1900 la Pagoda giapponese, fu posta vicino al lago e già all’epoca era corredata di luci che si riflettevano nell’acqua, per creare durante le serate quell’effetto pittoresco ed iconico tipico anche oggi dei giardini Tivoli. Forse non tutti sanno ma il noto designer danese Poul Henningsen (PH), padre dell’iconica lampada “ Artichoke “ della ditta Louis Poulsen, è stato l’architetto capo di Tivoli negli anni ’40, ancora oggi si possono ammirare i suoi lavori di progettista nel Parterre Garden, dove fontane, panchine bianche e muri in mattoni creano un giardino quasi privato e riservato. Tom ci spiega che i colori delle piante
scelte per l’estate sono rilassanti, quindi porpora, viola e giallo abbinati a numerose sfumature di verde. Per la primavera invece c’è un cambio di registro e ci stupiscono per i colori sgargianti con la magistrale fioritura delle bulbose; in totale ne vengono messe a dimora 100.000 in tutto il parco. Poul Henningsen creò nel 1949 la bellissima “Tivoli” Lamp, realizzata solo per i giardini di Tivoli, non è mai stata messa in produzione per il pubblico, inoltre, progettò nel 1946 il Glass Hall Theatre la sala da concerto in vetro che è stata più volte rimodernata dal 1843. Inizialmente era a forma di rettangolo in vetro e legno, successivamente la forma cambiò in ottagono e anche lo stile cambiò, di ispirazione moresca con una cupola e archi a tutto sesto nella facciata. In estate vengono proposte diverse aiuole e tinozze con mix di ortaggi e fioriture; nel parco vi è anche un piccolo orto urbano dove si tengono workshop e dove vengono insegnate ai bambini le regole base per imparare a coltivare una volta a casa. Tra i vari ristoranti proposti del parco, ce ne sono di varie tipologie dal galeone dei pirati a quello in stile arabo, ha catturato la mia attenzione la magnifica serra Gemyse in stile nordico, è un ristorante con giardino urbano e serra in vetro e ferro annessa. La particolarità del ristorante è il fatto di essere biologico, le verdure sono coltivate in una fattoria a km zero perché stanno concentrando tutti i loro sforzi sulla ristorazione sostenibile. All’esterno dell’edificio vi è un muro vegetale fatto di erbe aromatiche e nella zona barbecue con i salottini esterni ci sono grandi fioriere coltivate con bellissime piante da orto, pomodori, basilico,

Tom mi fa invidia, perché dopo avermi mostrato tutte le piante del parco, mi mostra anche quella più vecchia, un Amelanchier centenario sopravvissuto ad un inverno troppo gelido che lo ha spezzato a metà, mi racconta che non disegna o si annota le modifiche che ogni anno decide per l’assetto delle aiuole e delle fioriture. Dopo quindici anni di professione ha una memoria storica eccezionale che gli consente di avere in mente perfettamente tutte le possibili varianti. Il parco con i suoi giardini mi ha
letteralmente colpito, perché è sì un parco divertimenti, ma non nel senso che intendiamo noi, la volontà del Tivoli Gardens è sempre stata quella di stupire e di suggestionare con l’idea di esotico gli spettatori per portarli in mondi lontani e bizzarri e oggi come 176 anni fa ci riesce benissimo. Oggi quell’idea di esotismo convive con le piante mediterranee, che per la Danimarca possono essere considerate un lusso, gli edifici in stile moresco, le serre in vetro e ferro in stile nordico, le sculture degli artisti presenti nel parco e le attrazioni giocose che attirano grandi e piccini.
