ARTIST PROFILE CATHY NEWLIN Q&A Who is your favorite artist and why? Esther Shimazu and Clayton Keys. They both have amazing technical and interpretive skills.
What is a hidden talent of yours? I can play both rhythm and lead kazooo!
How did you get your start? In college, a 3-d art class was required. I chose a ceramics class and never looked back. What are you most proud of? Artistically, I’m very proud of the growth in my sculptural skills.
What has been your biggest challenge as an artist? Finding my voice and expressing my ideas in a more nuanced way. What do you see happening in the next 5 years? I see myself growing into a more established artist, with a clear and more skillful voice.

It’s with great emotion, we share that Lori Cardoza will be leaving Blue Line Arts. Lori has been with us for approximately two years, beginning as a volunteer and parting as the membership and development coordinator. Lori has been a great asset to us, and has worked very hard at increasing membership participation to record levels, streamlining 3rd Saturday and providing tremendous outreach. Her work will be greatly missed! Sincerely, Kathleen Mazzei -Operations Manager
