KURU ART PROJECT
In this graphic work the San artist of Southern Africa tell their story. Notice the plants, the animal tracks, the prey and the powerful characterizations of the hunters. The San people -the native people of Southern Africa traditionally painted on caves and rocks.They are hunters and gatherers dependent on their surroundings for their sustenance. The Kuru Art project encourages and assists the San people by exposing them to contemporary art materials and techniques. The project brings back the role of art as an expressive outlet for their traditions and recent life experiences and helps sustain them.
