JONAS WOOD

Lithograph

Large Shelf Still Life Pots Plant

23 in. x 23 in. Unsigned, Open Edition ¥100,000 | $880 USD You can purchase this work at this link: https://bit.ly/3K0UXtO A litho from Jonas word that includes so many of his iconic images. In this boldly colored graphic work Jonas Wood combines art historical references with images of the objects, interiors, and people that comprise the fabric of his life. Translating the three-dimensional world around him into flat color and line, he confounds expectations of scale and vantage point.

Born in Boston, Wood attended the University of

Washington, Seattle, where he received an MFA in painting and drawing in 2002. Wood currently shares a studio with artist Shio Kusaka, his wife since 2002, and the pair often work in tandem, motifs migrating from Kusaka’s ceramic vessels to Wood’s paintings and back again.

ZANDILE TSHABALALA . Representing the African woman with power and passion. The artist taps into topics of beauty, sensuality and the relationship between the black female body and the landscape. An outstanding print from award winning artist Zandile Tshabalala who has recently held sold-out shows in German and the UK. Zandlile Tshabalala was Born in Soweto, South Africa, 1999 where she continues to live and work. Zandile Tshabalala’s arresting figurative works write new narratives around the roles that Black women play in art history. Inspired by artists like Kerry James Marshall, Henri Rousseau, and Njideka Akunyili-Crosby, as well as personal experiences. Tshabalala says her portraits are meant to “to re-represent the Black woman in a more confident, sensual, beautiful manner.” Tshabalala deliberately inserts Black women into the canon that had previously excluded, marginalized, and disrespected them. AGUS “BAGUL” PURNOMO

Gallery favorite Agus does with numbers what a Michelin star chef can do with vegetables. In some cases, you can’t even tell that he’s painting numbers until you closely examine the paintings—which tend to draw you in like a show window. His works are in the collections of many of our clients and friends.

We have represented the award-winning Indonesian artist Agus Bagul Purnomo for more than twelve years. Agus ‘creates abstract works painting primarily with numbers. Purnomo works with the broadest palate of any artist we work with. In photos I’ve seen of him, he’s standing or sitting in front of the canvas with more than 20 paint cans at his side. The two works on the following page are paintings on paper and are framed with a white frame. Signed by the artist on the front with date.

For clients who would like the works framed, we recommend framing in a clear plexiglass box type frame. The consistent theme of her work is "Ryukyu Painting Flower and Bird Paradise”. She draws inspiration from the natural environment of Okinawa and the Kacho-ga of Ryukyu paintings. She has a strong interest in the subject of Kacho- ga (flowers-and-birds painting), which led her to create paintings that incorporated both paradise and flowers-and- birds painting and the insects that support the flowers and birds. Marina has exhibited throughout Japan and holds a Ph.D. in Japanese painting from Okinawa Prefectural University of Art where she is a lecturer.

THONGCHAI YUKANTAPORNPONG

Gallery favorite Thongchai Yukantapornpong creates art with order and patterns as the bases for his search for pure form. In his work you can see overlapping patterns of line and color in a geometric arrangement with a luminous surface. What is revealed is beauty in the balance between opposing things - between light and dark, movement and stillness, and the creation and disintegration of forms. His inspiration has roots in many areas including

the textiles and clothing worn to the temples.

“Emalgation” Custom Framed 62 x 62 cm Signed with Edition Number ¥80,000 | $700 USD SALE:¥70,000 | $600 USD
