We wish you a Merry Christmas, a very, very Merry Christmas. I want to extendwarm wishes to everyone for a Merry Christmas. And to those observing Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or celebrations specific to other faiths, I hope you also enjoy your special time.
Let’s talk about Christmas for a moment. Like the song says, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” and that holds true regardless of the circumstances. It’s fantastic when a year is prosperous, and everyone has some cash jingling in their pockets when the holiday season arrives. However, this year, as in the past few years, many people don’t have much money to pay the bills and buy presents.
Sometimes, we must shift our focus from the present to the traditio al. We need to reflect on the Miracle in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago. Even if you don’t believe that Jesus Christ was the Messiah, we can acknowledge that he was a man with a very special message, gifted with a charisma that reached all parts of the world and whose memory is memorialized by millions.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, could have come to this world with royal robes and flights of angels, but he didn’t. He arrived the same way you and I did - as a baby nurtured in the womb and born into the world. Yet, his birth was on a day that would be celebrated for all times.
Regardless of one’s perception of Jesus, he did not come with grandeur. Born in a manger where horses and cattle feed, there was nothing spectacular about his arrival - much like the unremarkable aspects of many lives this past year or in the past few years.
Jesus was never materially rich. His family was poor, and he earned a living as his father, Joseph, did - as a carpen-
ter. As he grew, he went to the Temple and taught lessons.
Yes, Jesus was also a teacher. In today’s world, carpenters and teachers may not receive substantial pay, but their work is vital as it provides shelter and education, crucial aspects of our lives.
In life, Jesus never ruled as the Son of God. If anything, he rejected the regal world for that of his Father in Heaven, where we all aspire to dwell someday. He taught us how to do it and expressed his love for us - imperfect as we humans are. We are sinners, but he forgives. Even as he died on the cross, he forgave us.
To this day, he hears the cries of the poor and the wails of the homeless. While some may feel Jesus doesn’t treat us all fairly, this isn’t the case. We are the ones who must work for a living, pursue happiness (which is not guaranteed), and learn life’s lessons, sometimes difficult to fathom but necessary.
Now is not the time for depression; it’s a time to celebrate. To adorn co orful wreaths and ornaments, share the spirit of the season. It costs nothing to share goodwill with others. We’ve witnessed how those with more material things help those with less by donating food and toys. There is a special feeling in simply walking down the street and saying “Hi” to people we don’t even know.
It’s the spirit that’s important, not materialism. At this time of year, we must abandon sadness for a happier demeanor, keeping the good mood and the faith of better days into the future as we wish all of you a very Merry Christmas.

“Twas the night before Christmas, Down here in Boca, I was sitting at Starbucks, ... sipping my mocha.
I know we’re all Jewish, But was wondering still, If Santa would come here And give us a thrill.
On my way home, No Christmas lights did I see, On the houses, the windows, Not even the tree.
What a strange feeling, Not a decoration in sight. Was it really December Or a warm summer’s night?
I drove past Toojay’s, There were lines out the door, People were waiting For kishka and more.
The restaurants were busy, Christmas dinners not planned. Never, not here, We’re in Boca Land.
At home, all was quiet, I left out Kosher wine, In case Santa came to Boca For the very first time.
Snoozing came easy To me Christmas Eve. I wasn’t waiting for presents To be left under a tree.
I could hope all I want, I could fuss and then see, If Santa would make time
For little old me.
Then all of a sudden, He pulled up in his Jag, With a sack full of presents, Each sporting a tag.
“Oh Bloomies, Oh Saks, Oh Neiman’s and more. He knows where to shop, He frequents my stores!”
He looked for the lox, The bagels and deli. He came to Boca first To fill up his belly!
“I have a long night ahead, I want you to know. From Boca I leave For New York and the snow.”
He stayed for a while, He chatted and ate. Then he left in a flash Before it got late.
What a great night I thought with a sigh. That jolly old Santa Is a really nice guy.
As I cleared off the table, I heard with delight, “Shalom to you all, And OY, vat a night!!”
Best wishes For a happy new year...”

Every activity gains meaning through preparation. Christmas, celebrated annually, is no exception. While the usual festivities associated with this significant holiday hold their place throughout the season, its true significance lies in the person whose birthday is celebrated on December 25 – Jesus, the Son of the living God.
Jesus descended to earth, born of a virgin, to identify Himself with the people He came to save through His eventual death on the cross. Sadly, as St. John records in his Gospel, “He came to His own, and His own received Him not; but as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God, even to those who believe in His name (John 1:11-12).”
While many think of Christmas only in terms of shopping, sending cards, exchanging gifts, and the usual sights,
sounds, and smells of the season, the preparations often focus on limited aspects such as the foods chosen, parties enjoyed, and presents given or received.
However, Christmas is much more than these external expressions. It is an ideal time for giving, joy, and celebration, with beautiful music filling the air. Nevertheless, Christmas is about Him who came to bring us life and life more abundant.
In preparing for Christmas, it is crucial to maintain focus. Regardless of other activities, we must gaze upon Him with grateful and believing hearts. He is the greatest gift anyone can receive at Christmas time or any other occasion!

Dear Editor,
I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say that there is no Santa Claus. Papa says “If you see it in the Sun, it is so.” Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus
Virginia,
Your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except what they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds.
All minds, Virginia, whether they be men’s or children’s, are little. In this great universe of ours, man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to our life its highest beauty and joy.
Alas! How dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.
Not believe in Santa Claus? You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your Papa to hire men to watch all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove?
Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see.
Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that’s no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders that are unseen and unseeable in the world.
You tear apart the baby’s rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, or even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernatural beauty and glory beyond.
Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else as real and abiding.
No Santa Claus? Thank God he lives and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, maybe 10 times 10,000 years from now, he will continue to make glad the hearts of children.

“Live and act in a way worthy of those who have been chosen for such wonderful blessings as these.”
Ephesians 4:1 (TLB)
God will never ever stop loving you. You will always be loved. Nothing can break your relationship with God. If you grasp this fact, it will change your life.
Romans 8:38-39 says, “I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in
When you put your hand in God’s hand, he grasps it—and never lets go. You might feel like letting go at times. But God never will. You are eternally secure.
Once you are born into a family, you can’t be born out of it. Once you’re born again, you can’t be born out of the family of God. Once your name is written in the eternal book of life, it can’t be erased. It’s indelible ink.
It doesn’t matter how many doubts or fears you have or how many sins you commit. If you put your trust in Christ, he says nothing—nothing!—will separate you from his love. No matter what you face in life, you will never face it alone.
This is the Good News: You are forgiven, and you are free. God is for you, and he’s never going to stop loving you.
Understanding this Good News is the most important thing for you, and for every other person on this planet to do. It’s why thousands of people have committed to pray for and give to Daily Hope so that we can spread this message of hope. It’s why we train pastors around the world. It’s why countless churches around the globe have student ministries and children’s ministries, and hundreds of other ministries.
We do it because no one else can offer what Jesus Christ offers: a life of freedom, forgiveness, power, peace, and purpose that goes on and on for eternity.
What should be your response? “Live and act in a way worthy of those who have been chosen for such wonderful blessings as these” (Ephesians 4:1 TLB)
Live in a way that’s worthy. Live with hope and share that hope with others.
When have you feared that you’d be separated from God’s love? Why?
How does knowing that God will always love you change the way you live?
What does it mean for you to “live in a way that’s worthy”?
Give hope, prayer, and encouragement below. Post a comment & talk about it.
Florida For All, Executive Director Angie Nixon issued this statement in response to a 23-week pregnant woman being denied shelter in Polk County.
“Every Floridian, regardless of their background or paperwork, deserves ac-
cess to safety when natural disasters strike. It is unconscionable that shelters in Polk County—and potentially others across Florida—are turning away hurricane evacuees in their most vulnerable moments simply because they do not have proper identification in a most vulnerable moment. Let me be clear: it is unlawful to deny anyone safe refuge during a disaster.

Boca Raton, FL – The Rotary Club of Itajaí-Porta do Vale, in collaboration with regional clubs (Itajaí, Itajaí-Norte, Balneário Camboriú, Balneário Camboriú-Praia do Atlântico, Camboriú, Itapema, and Porto Belo-Costa Esmeralda), international partners – Rotary Club of The Palisades (District 7490, USA), Districts 4795 (Uruguay), District 6930 (USA) – Governor Douglas Heizer, and 4652 (Brazil), The Rotary Foundation, and with the support of Tokio Marine Insurance and Procave Real Estate Investments, has made a historic donation to the Marieta Konder Bornhausen Hospital and Maternity in Itajaí, Santa Catarina. The donation – a state-of-the-art Surgical Video Tower for the Surgical Center –represents a significant advancement in patient care and surgical technology.
This acquisition, made possible through a Global Grant Project (GG2455603) and tireless collective efforts, aims to modernize surgical procedures and enhance patient care at the institution. The fundraising of $92,650 USD – nearly half a million reais – was achieved through the collaboration of nine Rotary Clubs, three Rotary International districts, The Rotary Foundation, and two private companies.
According to Rotarian José Alberto Noldin, a member of the Rotary Club of Itajaí-Porta do Vale and project coordinator, “The previous equipment at Marieta was already obsolete, which
put patient care at risk if any part required maintenance, as replacements were unavailable. The new technology will provide greater safety and efficiency in surgical procedures, ensuring more humane and effective treatment for all.”
The Marieta Konder Bornhausen Hospital and Maternity is a regional reference in emergency care, offering medium and high-complexity services to over 800,000 inhabitants, with 93% of patients served through SUS (the Brazilian public health system: It means it’s free of charge). As a philanthropic institution, the hospital plays an essential role in Itajaí and 11 surrounding municipalities, performing an average of 800 surgeries per month.
The new Surgical Video Tower will be utilized across various specialties, including general surgery, urology, digestive surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and otorhinolaryngology, directly benefiting thousands of patients.
The community served by the hospital stands to benefit significantly, as video-assisted surgeries are less invasive, resulting in shorter hospital stays and enabling the treatment of more patients. “Patients will experience shorter hospital stays and faster recoveries, allowing them to return to their daily lives more quickly,” emphasized the hospital’s General Director, Sister Simone Santana.
Rotarian lawyer and President of
the Madre Teresa Association, Maurício José Gom, underscored the importance of this achievement: “Our commitment is to continually seek improvements for Marieta Hospital and the patients it serves. This project showcases the collective power of Rotary to make a difference, and it is inspiring to see our efforts positively impact our communities.”
The official handover of the equipment took place on September 26, 2024, in the auditorium of Marieta Hospital. The ceremony was attended by the 2024-2025 Governor of Rotary International District 4652, Cioney Giovanni Giovanella, representatives of the Rotary Clubs, partner companies – Procave and Tokio Marine, the Madre Teresa Association, hospital management, and Rotary leaders and authorities from the region.
The event was marked by emotion and celebration as participants recognized another milestone in Rotary’s mission to transform lives through commitment and solidarity. The new equipment began operation in the hospital’s Surgical Center shortly after its delivery.

in 2023 to 30,039 in 2024 (April) – a 28% increase in the number of EV registrations. St. Lucie county saw a 32% increase over that same time from 2,342 to 3,098.
New data from EV research group IHS Markit finds statewide electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle registrations are currently at nearly 300,000 total vehicles – 244,000 of which are fully battery electric vehicles.
In June of 2023 – that number was 225,000 electric and plug-in vehicles –178,000 of which are fully electric –which means Florida’s seen a statewide increase of EVs by a third over the last year.
Florida Power and Light Company is meeting the growing demand of EVs on Florida roads by providing charging solutions for drivers.
Here in Palm Beach and St. Lucie — There are 15 FPL EVolution public fast charging sites, which can power up most electric vehicles in about 30 minutes.
Additional fast chargers are expected to come to West Palm Beach and Port St. Lucie in the New Year.
To find a public fast charger near you, download the FPL EVolution app or go to FPL.com/EV to find a map of all public charging locations to plan your holiday travel plans!
“As electric vehicle registrations continue to surge across Florida, FPL is committed to providing comprehensive charging solutions that support EV adoption and create a seamless experience for drivers,” says Crystal Stiles, executive director of development for distributed technologies & mobility for FPL. “Our FPL EVolution® public charging network is a valuable boost for Florida’s EV owners who need access to fast, reliable, and convenient charging options.”

est Palm Beach, FL – Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors® announces its fourth commercial, “Perfect Strangers,” to continue the association’s award-winning Only a REALTOR® campaign. Rooted in data and in-depth research, the newest commercial delivers an essential message to today’s consumers: the critical value of buyer representation, a cornerstone of real estate transactions.
“Only a REALTOR® was built at a pivotal time for Realtors® and continues to serve as a long-term investment in the industry’s future,” says Dionna Hall, CEO of Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors®. “The commercial’s powerful message emphasizes how Realtors® are indispensable in the home buying process, providing their clients a sense of security during one of their largest investments—buying a home.”
“Perfect Strangers” aims to highlight the irreplaceable role Realtors® play in mitigating risks for their buyer clients, who are investing emotionally and financially in the purchase of their new home. The commercial highlights the transaction process as it starts to unwind in reverse. It ends by showing how the relationship built between the Realtor® and the client developed as they were just strangers getting to know each other in the beginning.
Consumer reports and research groups revealed that the value of risk
mitigation was shown through Realtors’® expertise in understanding contracts, negotiating on clients’ behalf and offering unique expertise throughout transactions that gives clients a clear understanding of the details and security in their investment—all of which are highlighted throughout the 30-second spot.
“The latest commercial speaks to how unique the homebuying process can be and why using a Realtor® is essential to ensure your best interest is at heart,” says David Serle, president of Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors®. “Realtors® are multi-faceted experts who juggle an array of complex scenarios for their clients while getting them to the closing table and underscores the relationships built along the
way.”
The latest commercial will air on major networks, cable, connected TV apps, social media platforms, branded content outlets, realtor.com and display within Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Palm Beach International Airport. It will also reach the ever-growing Hispanic community in South Florida with the commercial also being produced in Spanish.
The power of the campaign will be amplified as Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors® continue to create a national movement to ensure people understand the critical value and counsel Realtors® bring to every real estate transaction. This will be supported by the continued efforts to license “Perfect
Strangers” to other associations starting in Jan. 2025. Licensing the campaign aims to increase awareness of the value and professionalism of using a Realtor® as a trusted partner to guide buyers and sellers through each unique real estate transaction. This helps other associations achieve a high-quality campaign that resonates with consumers and continues to add value to the Realtor® brand.
Previously, Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors® licensed the Only a Realtor® campaign to the Royal Palm Coast Realtors® Association and recently merged Greater Tampa Realtors® and Pinellas/Central Pasco Realtor® Association.
Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors® is South Florida’s premier REALTOR® association. More than 40,000 members in eight locations are equipped to sell real estate along 130 miles of coastline in South Florida and the Treasure Coast. can pop lexicon for well over a century. (And then there’s Barbra Streisand, Carole King, and even Elvis Presley – Elvis’ maternal great-great grandmother, Nancy Burdine, was Jewish. Her daughter gave birth to Doll Mansell who gave birth to Gladys Smith who gave birth to Elvis!).
These, and many more icons of the stage, screen, and recording studio will be celebrated in To Life 5: Jewish Broadway to Hollywood! Stories & Music Celebrating the Contributions of Jewish Composers and Entertainers to Broadway and the Great Hollywood Musicals. The production will run from January 17th through February 2nd at the Willow Theatre in Boca Raton’s Sugar Sand Park. The production will feature top-tier South Florida entertainers Jinon Deeb, Bruno Faria, Shelley Keelor, and Shane Tanner. Noted pianist/composer Elliot Weiss will serve as the production’s musical director. Nicole Roach is the production’s stage manager.
