The Three Poisons II The Snake: Aversion

Aversion is the fundamental rejection of what is occurring in our life at the moment. Aversion is a rejection of the situation we are in; rejection of our physical situation, the way someone is acting toward us, the traffic moving too slowly, the home team losing, the computer broken, or a panoply of situations that defy our desire.

Aversion is dominated by the narrative of disappointment, an experience that the world is not operating according to my narcissistic wishes. It’s a feeling of cosmic betrayal by a fickle world.

The feelings associated with aversive disappointment are either a variety of anger or depression.

When we are dominated by aversion we are always focused on what is missing. It is the opposite of gratitude, wherein we focus on life’s abundance and joy. The gap between desire and reality open the door to rage or despondency.

I recently re-watched episodes of, The Sopranos. The lead character goes through life constantly focused on what he is not getting, what is aversive to him, and responds almost uniformly with hostility, ranging from annoyance to rage to murder. The reality is that he gets anything he wants, but he is blind to that, consumed as he is with disappointment.

Of course, the show’s hook is that the mobster is in therapy. And under the softening effect of therapy his depressive core comes out. A cold, rejecting, hostile mother, a model father prone to violence for a living, he is on a desperate search for love through a series of shallow OCTOBER 2019

relationships, while he has a woman at home who truly loves him.

Freud also hypothesized that depression was anger turned inward.

Note that the personality of mass shooters is one of isolation, resentment, and brooding, depressive traits that then build to an explosion.

The avoidant always feels victimized.

There is a denial of responsibility, not seeing that it is his subjective coloring of the situation that makes it break. The world is a cruel and ugly place that I destroy or let destroy me.

Clinical syndromes with depression, paranoia, social isolation, dominate the passive pole. Disappointment, aggravation, and annoyance are colorings of the active or aggressive manifestation. Anger is the energized pole and manifests itself in animosity toward others, thoughts of revenge, short frustration tolerance, jealousy, envy and resentment which all fuel acting out disorders.

The Rooster: Confusion and delusion In the pictographs of The Three Poisons, the three animals shown are connected by their tales, demonstrating that the three poisons are interconnected.

However, the fundamental poison is a delusion. Delusions are the underpinning of both aversion and attachment.

Delusion refers to our fundamental misunderstanding of reality. Delusions prevent us from seeing the world as it is.

Our sensory-based perceptions distort this reality.

The basic delusional beliefs are: 1) Impermanence: Nothing lasts. While we may perceive permanence, change is always occurring. Our senses delude us; a look at the underlying reality informs us that change is the constant.

2) A common delusion is that we can live life without fear and pain. We think that if we take one more step, have one insight, achieve one accomplishment, it will bring us happiness. However, happiness is always fleeting. Fear, pain, and hurt are inherent in living. It’s the way we face these afflictive states that leads to life acceptance. Pain, however, is a given. Pain is mitigated by looking inside ourselves, not focusing on the outside world.

3) Our unwholesome mental states create suffering. Suffering does not come from events, but from our perception and evaluation of events. Happiness is created by life-affirming actions.

The metaphor of Sisyphus best describes our lives. Sisyphus offended the gods, so, as a punishment, he had to roll a boulder up a hill for eternity. When the bolder reached the top, it would fall back to the bottom. Sisyphus then would have to begin the circular process again.

The writer-philosopher Albert Camus wrote a famous essay on Sisyphus.

He saw Sisyphus as the common man. Camus defined the problem as man’s belief that “this time the stone will stay.” But if we accept that the rock will always fall, we are free, free of distorted expectations. Once we accept the constant ups and downs of life, we enjoy the good times, suffer during bad times, but learn to accept both with contentment, not aversion or desire.

When You Can’t Change Something, Trust

Every circumstance is essential in some way, though it can often be hard to recognize why that is the case. Being a person of strong opinions, it hasn’t always been easy for me to accept things as they are. I am blessed to have developed a higher perspective through my work healing people and the planet, which helps me to respond with greater wisdom.

One lesson comes to mind that taught me caution in expressing my agendas! In a much earlier election year, I was strongly against the candidate who won and those he appointed to judicial offices. I impulsively used my spiritual gifts to resist one of those appointments and it worked. But to my dismay, the person who then received the appointment seemed even worse than the original! After much meditation, I came to accept that what we had was what we needed and that to resist the inevitable only intensifies it.

Since then I have only pushed with my spiritual-will a couple of times, but each time I have found that it intensified a trend which was necessary for us to undergo. I learned to meditate deeply before acting. Setting aside my strong opinions, I then ask the Higher Power if there is something I might contribute helpfully to a particular circumstance, and what that might be. In this way, I am often able to assist things to unfold more easily for individuals and for our world, without intensifying a necessary trend. I don’t know what will happen with the current election cycle, but I know that I need to stay in acceptance whoever wins.

It is humbling to acknowledge that what might appear to my human mind and heart is good, isn’t necessarily what is needed. When I look with my healer’s eyes and heart I often observe how a negative situation is a necessary transition to a greater good. This reminds me that each person, creature and even the planet are eternal, safe and unbreakable. What I mean by this is that all physical things are transitional and temporary; and surrendering to what is so that things can change to what needs to become while hard for our incarnate selves, is easy for our eternal selves. During such a shift there is always a period of destruction, and from within our short lives, it can be very hard to accept the loss of things we value.

But centering on our true eternal selves, we can embrace change with the understanding that something better will follow.

I am blessed to journey with my healer’s awareness from the dawn of time through the present and into the future; though the future is not yet fully established. This provides me with a deeper understanding of who we are eternally and what we are seeking to accomplish through our crazy, awesome, terrifying, beautiful and fascinating lives on planet earth.

When I work with someone I can find them at the very beginning of their series of incarnations and gain an understanding of the grand purposes at work within their many lifetimes. That makes their current experience much easier to understand. It allows me to help them make use of their experiences for greater fulfillment, wholeness, and pleasure in life. Acceptance that the roles and circumstances we have been born to experience are needful, both for personal growth and for our world’s growth, can make it easier to embrace and love ourselves and our lives. Even when we don’t know what those greater purposes are if we will honor and trust that they exist we can find within ourselves the power to succeed and are in better position to receive help when we need it.

When we find ourselves in a happy phase of life, we want that to last forever, but it is going to change because change is the one constant. When we find ourselves in an unhappy phase of life, we fear that it will last forever, but it will also change.

Embracing change allows us to ride the waves of inevitability and make greatest use of the gifts they bring to us. Part of embracing change is to be compassionate with ourselves and others as we undergo it; stress can make us intolerant. Trust helps us to be more patient and kind.

Personally, the things which I have most resisted ended up bringing me the greatest gifts. In fact, when I resist something strongly I have learned that I probably need to welcome it. I say to you with confidence that great gifts are coming to all on planet earth, but a great deal of change must happen. Accept, love, trust, believe in the greater good and let’s ride this wave of change together. We can do this!

Touching Lives with Chiropractic

When I was a child, Chiropractic changed my life. This is one of the reasons I became a Chiropractor and perhaps the reason my son chose to follow in my path. I’ve been in practice for almost 40 years now -- and tickles run down my spine when I think of all the lives (and spines) I’ve touched!

The nervous system is so important that the neural tube is the first specific part to form after conception with all the other organs forming off of it, including the brain. The brain/gut is headquarters to the nervous system that communicates with every cell, organ, and system in the body. As long as the nervous system can communicate freely (without interference) the body functions at optimal performance.

Let’s look at how interferences begin. The moveable bones of the spinal column are called vertebrae.

Chiropractors use the term subluxation to describe one or more vertebrae being out of alignment. Subluxations occur because of stress or injury. Stress may be physical, mental, emotional, chemical, or a combination of all.

When stress causes vertebrae to lose their normal position and their ability to have normal motion, problems develop throughout the entire body, not just the spine. When there’s subluxation/spinal misalignment, the musculature of the body initially attempts to realign the vertebra as it’s interfering with normal nerve transmission. If the body cannot restore the normal positioning of the vertebrae, it will eventually initiate a calcification process. Commonly known as arthritis, this process is a way of the body protecting itself. It limits movement that would otherwise grind down nerves which would cause further pain and dysfunction.

When the body’s organs start to lose function due to nerve interference, health becomes compromised. Even if symptoms don’t develop right away, it doesn’t mean we don’t have problems.

They just haven’t been discovered yet.

For example, if the heart loses 25% of its function, a person may not begin to experience chest pain or high blood pressure for years. However, the first symptom may be a fatal heart attack.

Approximately 80% of the time, or more, the body can successfully restore normal OCTOBER 2019

function -- or we’d cease to function.

When the body cannot overcome the external invasive forces with the internal resistive forces, a Chiropractic adjustment is an intervention it needs.

and enjoying life. Although no one can definitively say what’s most responsible for his recovery, he believes that prayer, hope, and alternative medicine were most instrumental.

The reason Chiropractic works so well is that it works in harmony with our incredibly designed bodies. Emergency medicine may save lives in a disaster, but food, exercise, clean water, and other natural energy inputs, including Chiropractic, help restore health after it’s been compromised. By respecting our body and providing it with what it needs, we are rewarded with optimal health. And when we have our health, life is good.

Most holistic Chiropractors encourage patients to utilize other natural therapies to complement Chiropractic. One of my favorites is Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) which improves communication between the cells in the body by increasing their surface voltage.

Healthy cells have a voltage of negative 70-90 millivolts. Sick cells have lower voltages. PEMF increases cell surface voltage and improves circulation.

Despite the fact that the body replaces cells at the rate of 250 million cells a minute, it cannot continue performing necessary tasks when the information flow between the brain and the body is corrupted by nerve interference. When there’s a subluxation, the nerve supply must be rerouted to maintain as close to normal function as possible. Similar to driving in an area with closed roads and rerouted traffic, there will be chaos and congestion.

The electromagnetic field in PEMF is created by the use of copper coils embedded into a mat. In advanced PEMF units, the practitioner can choose specific waveforms and frequencies.

PEMF also helps decrease pain by improving calcium transport within the cells. This increases calcium absorption in the bones and improves the quality of cartilage in the joints. Cold laser/low-level light therapy (LLLT) is another modality used to help increase blood flow, increase energy in the cells and restore healthy communication between the cells of the body.

Another strong case for Chiropractic is our tendency to get sick when our body’s resistance is low. Our body’s natural resistance helps protect us from infections, colds, bronchitis, pneumonia, etc., but it becomes compromised when organs aren’t functioning normally.

Restoring proper function through the Chiropractic adjustment helps increase our body’s resistance, helping us become stronger and less receptive to bacterial or viral assaults.

How can something as simple as a Chiropractic adjustment have such profound results? One of my patients wrote about the benefits of Alternative Therapies, including Chiropractic and PEMF, after receiving radiation and semiexperimental drug treatment for Stage 4 metastatic non-small cell lung cancer.

True Acceptance and Transformation

Does true acceptance really bring transformation? Most people ask this because acceptance comes with the stereotype of giving up, letting go or walking away. This is not the truth and a myth we need to let go of, because with those myths comes the feeling that acceptance is giving up and a sign of weakness.

The truth is, acceptance is the foundation for growth and transformation. It’s the beginning of change and none of that includes giving up. Acceptance is actually a form of courage and bravery. To actually accept your life as it is and be in that moment for as much time as you need means that you are feeling. You feel what the situation is. Acceptance brings the feelings to the surface and from there we can let go of the fight, let go of the resistance, which also means letting go of the stress that comes with the fight. When we release all that resistance, we become free. This doesn’t happen overnight.

Acceptance is just the first step in your transformation.

Five steps to Accept and Transform: 1. Accept where you are currently.

2. Feel the emotions of your life at this moment.

3. Release the stress and resistance. Give up the fight of something you have no control over.

4. Breathe, and stay in the acceptance zone which I call the, gray zone. The gray zone is the transition time from your old identity to your new identity. This is a time when you think, analyze, and perhaps reevaluate your life. Where do you want to go? Who do you want to be? What part of your old identity do you want to take with you? What does your future vision look like? Feel like?

5. Action – this is the time to make the commitment to move into your new identity.

The Possibilities are Endless

When I was five years old, I had long hair that went down my back and people told me I was so cute. I was an only child and I was a dreamer! I saw myself singing, acting, dancing, and the possibilities were endless! As I entered school, I found that people started to “define” me. I was told what I could do and what was unaccepted for a young lady growing up in the 1960s. As I got older, the lines grew tighter and my possibilities of who I was and what I was here for became ridged by those around me. I felt confined. The only thing I knew for certain was that there was a loving force or energy that I felt from time to time that I could not explain.

When I hit my 30’s, my psychic ability increased and I started having vivid dreams at night. The dreams came to guide and teach me, and they awakened me. Once I started to meditate and connect with my angels and spirit guides, the possibilities became endless. What if I could heal others? What if I could connect with those that passed? What if I could be a higher version of who I am today? But as I ponder these thoughts, I found an old voice inside my head saying, “Don’t be foolish, you can’t do that. You are too old, it is too late, you are not smart enough, and you are not good enough. You are not enough.” It is a tape that has been going on for years in my head.

So I ask you, what is your tape saying? Is it limiting you to becoming a higher version of you?

Many people I know are stuck in life situations that create misery and despair, and I find that their biggest problem is the tape in their head. So how do we change the tape? I have found that one way is affirmations. By speaking out loud the things we want to create, we experience a shift in our own energy field. I find that focusing on gratitude can create a lighter and higher vibration, and create emotions of joy that help us be open to endless possibilities. As we become open, this loving force helps us reach higher levels and attracts higher possibilities for our lives.

So I ask you to come back to your younger self when the possibilities were endless and you could be anything. I encourage you to explore this and open up to this loving force.

Best Season of Your Life!

Seasons come and seasons go… Fall is all about transition.

As we move from the season of summer into fall, I am excited at the possibilities awaiting all of us. Along with the weather seasons, there are seasons in our life. With each new season, there is so much potential to ​GROW and ​EXPAND into living more of what you would love to experience life as! Because of that, this month “Coaches Corner” is dedicated to utilizing this season to kick off the absolute BEST SEASON OF YOUR LIFE! Doesn’t that sound exciting?

As I began building my vision for this new season in my life, I realized I was experiencing feelings of discontent surrounding my living conditions. Now I am really blessed to own my home in the mountains of South Carolina, a mere one hour away from this awesome apartment I’m fortunate to have, right in downtown Greenville. I really get to enjoy the best of both worlds between the two places. But this discontent remained stubborn and continuous.

At first, I would push it aside and get back into my gratitude’s of “how fortunate and blessed I am to be able to live life this

way”. But the discontent just gained strength. That’s what I mean when I state, “getting to that place of being sick and tired of being sick and tired”. It doesn’t have to be about running one’s life into the ground. It’s simply desiring change.

As I began to lean into the discontent by giving it a voice (so to speak), I was reminded of my vision to live mobile and travel across the country in a mobile home, trailering my motorcycle behind. What I came to realize is that discontent was nudging me to let me know, “this is my season to step into that adventure”. So as I write this article, I’m manifesting a motorhome and tenants to take over my lease and adding clarity to my vision of living on the road. It gets amazing on what’s showing up as I allow! We’ll save that for another time, but both are showing up in multiple ways…

SO… What area of your life would you love to experience more passion? More fulfillment?

Maybe for you, it’s your health and wellbeing. Getting those checkups or initiating that exercise program, or scheduling that massage that you just haven’t found the time for.

Maybe your focus is finding that great love or reigniting passion within your current relationship.

Is it your job and figuring out how to feel more excited about what you do?

Or could it be that you know what you would really love to do but there is that “how” question or fear that seems to keep blocking you?

Or maybe it’s finding more time and money freedom to do what you want to do when you want to do so.

Whatever it is, I can promise you, my friend, these seasons will continue to come and go regardless if you take action on your dreams or not. And with each new season, we all grow a little older. We can never get this time back. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Who’s Responsible for the Quality of Your Life?

Do you tend to blame other people or outside circumstances for the problems in your life? Several years ago, Wayne Dyer, a famous psychologist, author, and motivational speaker, told an amusing anecdote. He recounted that many of the clients he saw when he was a therapist would come into a session and blame their father or mother or other significant people for their problems. Dr. Dyer would tell them that he had a wonderful solution to the problem. He would tell these clients to send their parents to him for therapy so that he could cure the parents, and then the clients would be well. Obviously that wasn’t going to work. The clients were not taking responsibility for their problems.

If you are very angry about what happened to you in the past and won’t let go of the blame, you will not be able to improve your life. You will be stuck in the past and unable to see solutions to your problems. You will not take the necessary steps to change the situation in which you find yourself.

Because you are caught up in the past, you cannot clearly see what is occurring in the present. This is why it is so important to let go of the past and live in the here and now.

Several well-known authors have even stated that holding on to the past and not forgiving hurts us and can actually make us physically or mentally ill. A famous hypnotherapist named Dolores Cannon, who passed away several years ago, actually believed that not forgiving others could lead to cancer. This is how powerful lack of forgiveness can be. The well-known writer and surgeon Bernie Siegel found that people who were able to cure themselves of serious illnesses were those who took responsibility for their illness and then did all they could to rid themselves of that disease. They accepted responsibility and did not blame their problems on circumstances beyond their control.

A big reason people continue to blame others is that they don’t realize they have the power to change their lives. As you let go of the past, you can more clearly see what is going on in your life, determine what steps you need to take and then take the necessary action. You do not need to remain a victim.

You can change your life by changing your thoughts. For example, if you keep thinking thoughts such as, “I am not worthy”, or, “I can’t do this”, or, “I’ll never get a better job”, or, “I am just not good enough”, etc., you will not be able to succeed in getting what you desire. The problem with changing our thoughts is that they are often deeply ingrained in our subconscious mind and are not easy to identify, let alone change. Yet, they are greatly affecting the quality of our lives. One of the best methods for identifying and then removing these unhealthy thoughts is with the use of hypnosis. Regrets are as personal as fingerprints.

Regrets are regretting what you did or what you didn’t do. Learn from the experience; take the opportunity as a lesson you have learned and move on.

Although Kimberly did very well in life by anyone’s standards, she continued to have regrets that she could have done better.

We seldom think our life is good enough. We question ourselves; am I satisfied with the status quo? Can I do more to get better results? Do I believe that I will never get to the point that I can say, whatever the situation, it’s good enough?

In our society, we always want more, beating ourselves up to acquire more.

Are we not satisfied with who we are, accepting all the good that we currently hold now?

There is nothing wrong with accepting average or typical. But why would you stop on average? Each of us has the capacity for a great life, like something as vast and as constant as the earth holding us up and turning us ever so slowly toward the light. No matter where you are on life’s journey, know you are good enough as you are.

That’s easier to say than to not having the desire to do and be more. Life is a process, a journey of discovery. And, on that path of development, you evolve to a different level of enough.

Kimberly, as a child, dreamed of becoming a part of the elite class; the group with style, connections, money, power, and prestige. While in college, she did very well in her classes. She knew lots of students and faculty. She was always invited to the “it” parties, for the up-and-coming students. Faculty would ask her to be part of think tanks for the university. Kimberly was well on her way

She grew up in a single-parent household with her mother and brother.

Her mom was a business owner -therefore, independence was the rule.

They never owned their home, so they moved often. This made Kimberly feel she did not measure up to the kids in the community. She was withdrawn, feeling ashamed because everyone she knew had both parents in the home. And, they never stayed in one place long enough for her to build lasting relationships.

In college, a friend was getting married -- it was a big deal. The wedding was the talk on campus, and all her friends were invited. Kimberly did not get an invitation. She asked about it and was told the invite was mailed. Everyone had gotten their invitation, so why not her?

She felt that they really did not invite her.

Kimberly began to withdraw from the elite group, feeling that she was not good enough, did not measure up. This belief of not being enough followed her in her work life and choosing a partner.

In this story, Kimberly never released the inner bully. It was much later in life that she recognized she had the power to terminate the bully within, without regrets.

When we love, accept and embrace all aspects of ourselves, change comes more easily. For most of us, there are parts of our self that we like and even love, and there are often parts of ourselves that we like less. Sometimes we ignore those parts hoping they will magically disappear. This does not work. Change happens more readily and easily when we fully accept where and who we are.

Acceptance, change and transformation

If I do not accept myself or my situation, I lose energy, fighting myself and my situation, which takes time and energy from making changes and achieving what I want to achieve. When I accept who and where I am, 100 percent of my energy can be invested in any changes I want to bring about.

The only person that is always in your life is yourself. Making the best of yourself in all situations is the most important thing you can do and the most important determinant in your happiness and success. To do this most effectively, accepting who you are is a critical first step. This approach works in all areas -- from physical perceptions about ourselves, to how we work, our self-discipline, how we address our fears and difficulties, and how we speak our truth, saying ‘yes’ to life and ‘no’ to things we do not feel serve our higher good or the purpose we are working to achieve.

Change is a daily part of life. The common denominator in all of our problems is our self. This is empowering as it means that the common denominator in all the solutions to all our problems is also, us.

So this week, if there are areas of yourself and your life that you are struggling with or are not fully embracing, take some time to sit with yourself and see what needs to be done. If you are happy with how and who you are and what you are doing, well done! Keep it up.

If there are areas where you are not fully comfortable or you feel could be better, put a spotlight on them. Decide if you feel changes need to be made. Accept how you and things are, act and enjoy the transformation process!

October is the time of harvest, so why not reap your spiritual rewards?

This is, of course, assuming you have chosen a spiritual path, that you have mindfully chosen to put your connection with Source and your soul at the top of your values. It’s not a path for the fainthearted, as many may not understand the spiritual choices you have made instead of the material or power over others, of separation, that others have. You have chosen to see the wholeness of life and dropped out of the dog-eat-dog competition. You have chosen to go your own road, guided by your soul’s connection with Source, instead of traditional human values and ladder of success. You have stepped outside the norm -- and what do you get? You get to connect with Source, love, and joy -- peace. You get to have inner joy and peace, no matter where you are or what happens to you because you see the wholeness and transitory state of it all -- this universe.

Now that you are meditating, praying, learning to respond from your heart and soul, what are the benefits you are experiencing? You are able to connect with Source and be guided to your next right step on your spiritual path. You get to connect and know that we are ALL connected in the entire universe and that what affects one, affects another. You then treat others with unselfish love and respect, acceptance for who they are in that moment, even if they are making choices from the defensive ego.

You are one who is learning to let go of the ego, observing its struggles to survive, and while having compassion, stand firm in your resolve to connect and feed the soul rather than the ego. Be loving, kind and considerate of others -- knowing that they are really your brothers and sisters and that we are all in this together. So, you continue to connect and walk a spiritual path, letting your vibration match Source’s, the ripples affecting the vibration of those around you. And those around you will either allow themselves to be inspired or allow their ego to become defensive. It’s all good. We are all learning, growing towards self-actualization and connection with Source. And what does all that brings; all that meditation, prayer, going inward, finding joy from the inside out, connecting with your soul and Source before responding -- what does all that reap? You get closer to Source, your true being.

There are also physical rewards you will reap in this life on planet earth. Chances are, your stress level is lower, your emotional state is more stable, your health is improved -- and relationships all around are better. You handle stress better and with a different perspective, less judgment and criticism, more acceptance, and going with the flow of the universe.

These are minuscule compared to the spiritual rewards.

As you reap your rewards of peace, joy, love, abundance, loving relationships and more, you also reap the rewards of knowing we are really all connected, all one in love and light. You reap the sense of peace and serenity knowing you are doing your part in building heaven on earth by having a spiritual experience in a physical vehicle. You know, not just believe, that we are all one and are manifesting, creating our way back to the knowing that we never were separate from Source -- never separate from love and light. It was all illusions and you are waking up. You are reaping the rewards of a spiritual life here on earth. Keep on the spiritual path you have chosen, moment by moment and continue reaping those rewards!

How to Benefit Using Angel Aura Quartz

Unconditional Love

I want to write about unconditional love today! The reason is, it’s so important to have love in your life and it doesn’t mean to have another person, man, woman or a relationship. What it means is love by opening your heart chakra. When I find people, whose hearts are not open, their relationships go backward. They get depressed and their life seems unhappy.

They can’t find anything that makes them happy. In some cases, it’s having a dog or kitty cat. The love of life that was the focus we all come here to have. An adventure and as we go through this adventure, there is always Ups & Downs.

We can all achieve having a beautiful life if we put love or unconditional love in it. Unconditional love has different meanings to different people, it’s not a science. I asked a couple of people what they thought unconditional love was. I was surprised because their meaning of unconditional love was not the same as mine. My meaning of unconditional life love is constantly loving someone without conditions. Just to please someone that makes you feel good.

Life is too short for anger issues. We’re trying to push our way through life. It’s kind of like going for a walk, right out the door you start your day. You see things that are beautiful, or you don’t see things at all. You don’t see the grass, the trees, anything beautiful as you walk out the door, you feel miserable. You have to go to work or get the kids to where they need to go. You don’t have time to see, to feel any kind of love it all. You’re just going through the motions but if

you see and you touch things that are beautiful; there’s a feeling in that beauty.

There’s an energy there that opens your heart and you just feel wonderful about everything.

That’s when life changes. You are beautiful. Your heart chakra is open and that’s what this is all about. When your heart is open to love, unconditional love, there’s a feeling and emotion that makes you feel so wonderful. Then that emotion and love that you feel are felt by the next person you meet. Love doesn’t always come from people; love comes from within first with a feeling of emotion or fantasy. Its’s how your heart feels.

Many people I begin to work with feel as they have FAILED. This is not true. They just didn’t have the proper support. Do not believe the new age bliss bunny spiritual approach that puts so much pressure on yourself to JUST “love yourself more.” Selflove practices ARE important but real change requires other people. Inner work must be balanced by mentors, community, nature, and friends. These things are like water. You wouldn’t judge yourself for needing water, right? Why do you think you’re weak for needing more support?

Self-acceptance is the foundation to keeping your power and feeling safe in the world. Unresolved pain causes a human to NOT be able to hear their needs and feelings. This is why people get into abusive relationships and work situations.

It is NOT because they are stupid. People are in jobs they hate and unhealthy relationships because of generational trauma, because of childhood guardians that took their voice, and societal models of consumerism.

Self-acceptance empowers real choice. The choice is a function of awareness. Meaning without inner work, personal responsibility, and being properly resourced, a person is trapped in a gerbil wheel of suffering, recreating the same painful path of misery they experienced yesterday. SelfAcceptance helps people to reclaim the capacity to stand up for themselves.

A person does NOT have the ability to stand up for themselves until they heal the generational trauma and pain. When you know your feelings and needs, you can have clear boundaries.

Clear boundaries allow you to feel safe to BE YOURSELF in the world, and to express your gifts. Working with thousands of people as they step into their gifts and power, I find it is VERY common for people to feel they might be attacked, ridiculed, or not supported in their full and authentic expression. This is because it DID happen as a child.

This short-circuits the developmental system. People whose development is short-circuited literally have different brain pathways, from not having their emotional needs met as a child or not being properly protected from predators. The good news is we all have developmental gaps and short circuits.

The better news is there is something you can do about it!

You DO have gifts, talents, and capacities waiting to be born through you. Every human can become a vortex of God if they do the inner work. There is nothing WRONG with you and you are NOT broken. There is nothing to fix. You are already whole. Start your inner work so that you can manifest your dreams.

What Are You ACCEPTING in Your Life?

The highlight for the October, Body Mind Spirit Guide is ACCEPTANCE. October is the time of changing leaf colors and blooms wilting and falling, with seeds burrowing into the soil preparing for regrowth in the spring. Transformation is happening all around us in nature, and perhaps in our own lives too. People come and go, life events occur like weddings, births, deaths, and diagnoses. We are told that acceptance helps us through life’s changes. “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.” Acceptance can seem PASSIVE, almost like doing nothing or giving in or giving up. Well, I beg to differ!

Acceptance takes EFFORT, DETERMINATION, USING OUR INNER STRENGTH and ACTIVELY MAKING A DECISION. It is imperative to realize WHAT we are accepting -- What part of the situation are we accepting? For example, if we are told we have a chronic disease, do we accept this diagnosis, and feel sorry for ourselves and figure we will not have a very fun future? Or, do we DECIDE that that diagnosis is NOT us, not the real and whole truth. When we understand AND embrace who and Whose we really are, we can use our inner strength and wisdom to BELIEVE we are so much more than that diagnosis. We may HAVE that disease, but we ARE not that disease.

And we understand the diagnosis can change because we know everything is constantly changing -- in our bodies, in nature, and in the world. We can accept this Truth, but not the diagnosis. What we focus on, grows. Putting our efforts and determination in thoughts, such as we are individualized expressions of God and made in his image, we know we do not inherit sickness. If God is whole, healthy, omnipotent, and perfect, then so are we! Accepting this takes effort, determination, and inner strength. Powerful stuff!

Synonyms for acceptance, according to Webster, are welcoming, favorable reception, embracing, approval, adoption, and integration. We need to welcome and embrace thoughts and feelings that benefit us and those around us. Accepting or favorably receiving words and experiences that bring us joy, and memories that make us feel fulfilled and peaceful are what most of us desire. We get to choose what we ACCEPT in our lives as the truth.

Playing the Blame Game

What does a happy and content life mean to you? Does it feel unreachable? Do you feel like a victim?

It’s not entirely your fault. Society wires us to blame others when life isn’t flowing as we want. You’re led to believe that you’re entitled to, and deserving of, a perfect life. And, advertisers want us all to think that the path to a “perfect” life lies in our ability to acquire more material stuff. We’re even told that good health is only possible with pharmaceuticals, causing us to, once again, push responsibility onto an outside resource.

But, when we discover that the new stuff or prescriptions aren’t the answer, the relentless search continues.

There’s so much pressure to achieve “success” that many will spend their days on social media generating posts that create the illusion of an enviable life. Then, there are those who play the blame game -- always pointing out how the world has done them wrong but never offering positive input. And don’t forget about those who consistently jump on the bandwagon of blame whenever they hear of any tough times affecting others.

Let’s get something straight! Life isn’t meant to be fun and games. Our souls’ choose to come here and face challenges that will open us up to the truths of the Universe. Yes...you chose your life and all of the people and circumstances that came with it. That said, there’s no magic bullet that’s meant to eliminate the difficulties that accompany those life lessons. The best place to start is by accepting that EVERYTHING in your life is ALWAYS happening for your benefit.

Seeing life as an intricate maze or a challenging board game can help remove some of the highly charged emotions that surface in difficult times. Life is only a temporary assignment, meant to help us evolve as spiritual beings. In the end, we all return safely home to a place of pure love and light. Like a roller coaster arriving back at the starting point, when you return home you’ll have the opportunity to reflect back on the good, the bad, the scary and the victorious moments you experienced along the way.

To make this simple and straightforward, you are a ball of energy in an organic wrapper and your thoughts determine the level of vibration you release into the world. Good/positive thoughts = high energy/high vibration (abundance, loving relationships, vibrant health, joy). Bad/negative thoughts = low energy/low vibration (living in lack, dysfunctional relationships, illness, depression). When you understand and accept that like attracts like, it’s understandable that by placing yourself into a state of high vibration you’ll attract people, events and circumstances equal to that energy.

So, you may be thinking, “But what about when the actions of others cause my energy to shift downward? I can’t control that!”

How to Deal with Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Pain

One of my clients, Bonnie, a woman in her late fifties, was involved in an automobile accident and experienced whiplash. Shortly after that event, she started experiencing pain in her neck and jaw. Her medical doctor diagnosed it as an extreme case of temporomandibular joint pain.

According to the Mayo Clinic, “The temporomandibular (tem-puh-roe-man-dib-u-lur) joint (TMJ) acts like a sliding hinge, connecting your jawbone to your skull. You have one joint on each side of your jaw. TMJ disorders — a type of temporomandibular disorder or TMD — can cause pain in your jaw joint and in the muscles that control jaw movement.”

When the proper movement of the TMJ is disrupted, then inflammation is a likely outcome.

This type of injury can result from not only an automobile accident, but from a variety of causes, including grinding of the teeth, extensive dental work, falls, or any type of physical trauma to the head. It can also result from poor posture (especially forward head posture) or emotional factors such as pent up anger that gets expressed through the jaw. In some instances, if the person’s muscles and fascia connected to the joint are in a state of over- contraction (hyper toned), chewing on something hard can be enough to trigger TMJ discomfort.

TMJ syndrome is often accompanied by torques in the cranium itself. To a trained eye, where there are twists and contortions in the cranium, one side of the face will look larger than the other. TMJ affects men and women alike.

Most minor problems, whether muscular or within the joint, get better over time. For this reason, most experts agree not to rush into radical treatment involving surgery or injections, and that it’s best to use conservative treatment first.

Healthline™ reports that TMJ disorders may cause mild to debilitating symptoms, such as pain while chewing, pain in the ear, face, jaw, and neck, clicking, grating, or popping sounds in the jaw when opening or closing the mouth, and locking of the jaw. It can be experienced in part or all of the jaw. It can also be referred to the ears or show up in the form of a headache.

The jaw and the neck are terrible gossips, constantly sharing breaking bad news with each other. In Bonnie’s case, her neck was literally shouting to her jaw and formed a painful link. She immediately sought medical attention and was prescribed Ibuprofen to reduce the pain. She was also given a prescription by her doctor for physical therapy. After several weeks the

In more serious cases, approaches to treating TMJ varies and may include chiropractic, Cranial Sacral, acupuncture, massage, or Structural Integration (aka Rolfing). In Structural Integration (aka Rolfing), there is direct work that can be performed on the muscles and the fascia that control the movement of the jaw, including the opening and closing of the jaw and its movement from left to right. These include muscles on the outside of the cranium and jaw like the Masseter and Temporalis and the Lateral and medial Peterygoids, primarily accessed from the inside of the mouth.

Our approach was to have Bonnie go through the Ten Session protocol we use in Structural Integration (aka, Rolfing), which specifically addressed her whole body alignment and the hyper-toned fascia of her neck and jaw and the way these three components were interacting with each other. Once we accomplished this, her pain disappeared.

pain, although reduced, still lingered. A visit to a massage therapist helped, but Bonnie was still experiencing a gnawing pain in her jaw and neck. Eating food was difficult.

The continuing discomfort was making her miserable and I’m sure if you have ever suffered from TMD you know how it can drain your energy and impact your mood.

Can your dreams be prophetic?

Have you ever woken up with the feeling that your dream was a warning of something yet to come? Dreams that usually stick with you, or dreaming the same dream several nights in a row, are certainly trying to tell you that this is a prophetic dream and to pay attention. I believe that for some people they can take an astral trip to the other side and visit spirit, receive information, and at times be given a warning.

This is exactly what happened to me a few years ago. You see, I did not know it when I went to sleep one night and my deceased brother-in-law would save my life. Funny, when I went to sleep that night, it never crossed my mind that I would see my brother-in-law who died five years earlier.

As I closed my eyes and moved into REM sleep, I crossed over the barrier that divides this world from the spirit world. I was on a blood thinner and the dosage was over-prescribed.

I truly did not feel anything was wrong and my doctor told me to come back in two weeks to check my coumadin levels. As I walked in my deep sleep to what seemed like a living room full of light, I saw my brother-in-law sitting in an easy chair. He was a bit upset when he saw me and told me it was not my time. He told me, no, and demanded that when I wake-up that I should go to the emergency room. This was so startling to me that I did just that, and found I was in extreme danger of having a brain bleed, as my medication was way too high and most likely I would not have made it through the day. Thanks to my dear brother-in-law, I am alive to tell this story. It is so very important to listen to your dreams or little voice!

Prophetic dreams at times warn us. You might receive a warning of a personal incident that could cause you serious harm, or even learn of a world event like an earthquake, or when the World Trade towers came down; several people had dreams of this event. Most of my world predictions come through my dreams, such as when I saw the Berlin Wall come down one year before it did.

Have you had a dream and found that it was unfolding in your waking hours? If you answered yes, you may have had a prophetic dream, or you could be experiencing Déjà vu. You do not need to be psychic to experience prophetic dreams; if you pay attention to your dreams you will find your dreams quite often warning or making you aware of your future.

It was a belief in Mesopotamia that the soul leaves the body while sleeping, and visits people go to places they have not traveled to and even talk with Gods who showed them their life path.

In Asian cultures, they believe you travel to your future so that

you can be warned of what’s ahead to make better decisions.

Christians believe in prophetic dreams, as they are an important part of the Bible. God and the Holy Spirit appeared in peoples’ dreams with visions and messages. There are over 121 prophetic dreams recorded in the Bible. Native Americans believe dreams are meant to communicate with their ancestors, often using hallucinating substances found in plants and roots, in order to have a vivid dream vision.

Many cultures throughout the ages have reported having prophetic dreams. The Egyptians wrote down their dreams, keeping a dream diary to better remember their dreams and interpret their meanings. They believed that dreams were oracles to help communicate with the Gods.

Keep a dream diary, write down notes even before you get out of bed in the morning. Dreams quickly fade. Even those that don’t believe they dream indeed do, but they quickly forget as they start to think of the day ahead.

When it comes to the healing journey, acceptance is a large part.

The importance of being honest with ourselves, assessing where we are at, is the framework we use to build upon, even if what we see is not what we had expected. Acceptance can be challenging, where the human ego so desires to judge, guilt and shame.

Yet the truth in being honest with ourselves is recognizing the places our body is calling out to us to heal. It gives us the direction we need to take whether through nutrition, lifestyle or habits. The areas that need attention will show up on our body in one form or another, through our skin, weight, digestion or emotional disposition. When we take steps on the nutritional front, it allows healing to be brought to all those areas.

Herbs are an easy and fun way to begin our healing process. They not only encourage our culinary creativity in the kitchen, but there are also tons of places they can contribute to our wellness around the home. We find them in every recipe we use and once upon a time, our ancestors relied upon them for their medicine.

One of the most commonly used in the kitchen is garlic. It fights cancer, high cholesterol, diabetes, ear infection, fungus, and ulcers. Another favorite is basil, which we find in a lot of Italian and Mediterranean dishes. Basil is excellent for external scrapes and wounds while internally it eases tension and nerves, an upset stomach, and the pain associated with arthritis. We often see clove used in small quantities in apple pie or pumpkin spice bread. But did you know it prevents disease by protecting our nerves from toxins?

Parsley as a diuretic, aids in the release of toxins from our kidneys and liver. Ginger is an amazing anti-inflammatory, helping reduce pain especially related to arthritis. It helps with indigestion, high cholesterol, and cleansing the body.

It is amazing to see how some of the most common things we use on a dayto-day basis can positively impact our health without even knowing it. When we consume whole foods, by making a meal from scratch, incorporating herbs and spices to expand on flavors while healing, is something our body smiles upon. We have gotten so lost in the fastpaced humdrum of life we forget the one thing we can do to support that.

As we take a moment to reflect upon some of the areas we can practically change, maybe we will accept where we are at in our food journey and choose to better one more thing there as well.

Fluffy Garden Vegetable Herb Frittata w/ Pan Roasted Yukons and Cotija

1/2 - 1 T. Garlic powder 1/4 Cotija cheese, crumbled 1 T. Cilantro, chopped Salt and Pepper Heat oven to 350. Place baby Yukons in baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt, pepper, and garlic. Roast for 25-30 minutes, until soft. Top with Cojita.

Place in the oven for 1 minute or until it melts. Remove from oven and top with cilantro. Ready to serve.

Meanwhile, in large sauté pan over medium-low heat, heat 1 T. butter or oil.

Sauté onion and garlic for 5 minutes, make sure it doesn’t burn. Meanwhile, take egg whites and beat with mixer until stiff peaks form. In a separate bowl, mix 3 yolks only. Gently fold herbs and yolks into egg whites, making sure not to deflate the whites too much.

Return to sauté pan and add remaining T (tablespoon) of butter/oil and swirl around the pan. Add egg mixture and spread out to the edge of the pan. Add in vegetables and place in the oven to bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with fresh herbs, salt, and pepper. Enjoy!

4 Steps of Acceptance and Transformation

1. Gratitude Thank whatever shows up for showing up. Have an attitude of gratitude throughout your day. (This may take some practice when dealing with a painful experience.) Everything that shows up is entirely for your benefit and for your learning, so practice gratitude for it now. It will open your eyes and your heart.

2. Realize Realize you don’t know everything about what just showed up. This is an important truth of life that most people miss or refuse to accept. What we think we know is almost always wrong or at best a very limited part of the whole picture. Often, our accumulation of knowledge actually limits our true knowing.

3. Ask Ask whatever shows up what it has come to teach you. Everything that happens in your life is a LESSON. When your mind is open through gratitude and the realization that you really don’t know why this thing, feeling, situation or person showed up, you have the openness and space to hear the answer.

4. Realization When the first three steps are done with an open mind and heart, awakening and awareness will happen naturally. You will see the world in a very different way.

These are not difficult things to do. It just takes willingness.

Speaking God’s Language

My life is all about ideas and communicating those ideas. Words. I make my living crafting words from ideas in an effort to build bridges of communication with other users of words. That is my life. While it may be obvious for a preacher, it is no less true of us all.

As spiritual beings seeking enlightenment and hoping to share the same with the world around us, we must learn to use words in enlightened ways. I am convinced that the divine creator gave us words as instruments of light and life. According to the Genesis account, God spoke the universe into being. According to that same account, He imbued us with His creative power. That is what the “Imago Dei” is.

We are reflections of God’s image, His likeness; we possess attributes consistent with His. We have the capacity to live as creative, wondrous beings in this world and for eternity if we would only learn God’s language and speak it. In all of my experience using and seeking expertise with words, nothing has ever brought the importance of words home to my heart like learning another language. In 2013, my wife dragged me to Haiti with her. My heart instantly broke for Haiti, as hers had just a few months earlier, and I needed to speak their language.

I found an English to Haitian Creole dictionary and a Creole Bible and went to work right away. My first few times in Haiti I butchered the language! I marred beautiful Haitian proverbs with my limited skills. I tortured Haitian ears with my clunky attempts and stubborn insistence to speak without a translator. I love these people and had to be able to communicate my love and respect to them. It took me a while but after a year living entirely immersed in their language and culture, I deliver sermons in Haiti in Haitian Creole that God can use!

The path of enlightenment is paved not in perfection. It is paved in persistence and perseverance. The with-God life is seldom easy and always demands discipline. If we want to actuate the Imago Dei, the Image of God in us, and really put it on display in the world around us, we must learn to speak God’s language. That is what James 1:19 means in terms of practical application. “Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.”(NLT)

Among the surest signs of spiritual enlightenment is the light of live-giving words. Develop discipline with words. Speak God’s language!
