Relay for Life was fun event Paarl helped fight cancer by supporting the Cancer Association of South Africa’s Relay For Life Paarl event, which took place on Saturday 22 February at 18:00 at the Boy Louw sport fields. Teams raise funds before and during the Relay with the goals of saving lives in their communities. Vissies won the trophy for the team who raised the most money (R25 000), Van Dyck won best awareness, Hopeful Joyful Fighters won best team spirit, Care Bears won best banner and the best stall went Team Hope. Here are the Smurf-Vivors team with their banner. On Saturday 1 March the 11th Shavathon will kick-off, which will be held at Paarl Mall. Adults can shave or spray their head for a donation of R50 (or more) and children, under 12 years old, for R25. You can pay cash at the venue or to fast track the process you can make an on-line donation in advance and take your confirmation e-mail to the venue as proof of payment.
