Design and Music in a Changing Northern Sierra Leone Chiefdom
by Simon OttenbergThis anthropological and historical study of Wara Wara Balodea Chiefdoma, an ancient and formerly very isolated, hill chiefdom in northern Sierra Leone. West Africa, called Wara Wara Bafodea is based on two-year’s personal study in 1979-1980, contrasting the chiefdoms music with its art and designs, to arrive at an understanding of the elements of its culture. It is also a study of changing cultures, with Wara Wara Bafodea culture and language becoming overwhelmed by both Muslim and Christian influencesan African society undergoing rapid change from an elemental indigenous society to a complex multicultural one.
About the Author
Simon Ottenberg, a retired University of Washington anthropologist, wrote four books and numerous articles on the traditional life of an Igbo group in southeastern Nigeria--their social groupings, family life, masquerades, and boy’s growing up. He authored a history of the Igbo town of Abakaliki from precolonial times until 1960. He curated an exhibition on seven modem Igbo artists at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., and wrote a biography of the late modem Siena Leone artist, Olayinka Burney-Nichols He co-edited of a volume on African children’s masquerades.

Dying for Life
by Saibal GuhaAs Sam, a psychiatrist starts unraveling his past, strange visions and experiences start occurring. This leads to a unique transformation, not without its own challenges, nearly destabilizing his mental and physical health. His lost childhood is gradually unpacked through experimental narcoanalysis and frequent dissociative episodes. Sam returns to his roots to find answers. Little does he know, he is a mere pawn in a much bigger game involving politics, money, greed, and lust. As he also discovers more about the source of his index trauma, his life is suddenly tossed around in the stormy sea of guilt, paranormal experiences, threats of death and dying, and glimpses of hope and salvation.
About the Author
Saibal Guha was born in a bustling industrial city near Kolkata, India, to a family who endured the pains of partition in 1947. The Promised Lands
by Brian Hummel, M.D.This is a story of Dr. Brian Hummel’s journey of which the “lands,” physical and emotional, had a profound and indelible impact. Through this personal voyage replete with flawed emotions, behavior, and growth, he came to understand later in his life how much of a “narcissist” he was. The emotional baggage he ultimately unpacked was both frightening and liberating. It is not a story of celebration as much as it is a story of hope and love frequently unexpressed or not reciprocated. It is the story of many of us who live in a dark place but know they want the sunlight.

Denominationalism Of God ... or ... Of Man

John F. Lugger
Hardcover\Softcover\E-Book | ISBN: 9781665577731 | $3.99
Denominationalism Of God … or … Of Man is a Christian read by author John F. Lugger, which seeks to disseminate a much-needed orientation on the denomination subject, with the utmost regard to the criterion set by the prominence of the Holy Scriptures. Lugger starts by bringing out compelling assertions regarding a present-day occurrence, where various denominations are openly modifying the contents of the written Word of God to suit their bigotry. He furthermore demonstrates how an alarming number of believers have been dropping from Faith, with Christian authorities choosing to adopt auxiliary ideologies which further heighten their supremacy.
