Charlie and Cindy’s fundraising story, like many others, is deeply personal. They are on a mission to honor the lives of two beautiful souls (Charlie’s daughter Marissa and son Nicholas) by helping others. Both young adults were taken from this world much too early at the young age of 25 and their tragic passing was directly related to their struggles with mental withhavelovedalsodaughter.datedNicholasdaughterCindy’sSchooltoMarissaintersectedCharlie’sCindyinNicholasinMarissaillness.passed2014andpassed2017.andliveswhenwentTarponHighwitheldestandbrieflyherotherCindyhashadoneswhostruggledmentalillness, so when Cindy and Charlie started dating about six years ago (and later married), Cindy immediately joined forces with Charlie to help his son Nicholas and they’ve always dreamed of things they might do together to make a real difference. That led to their involvement with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), The Treatment Advocacy Center, The LEAP institute (Dr. Xavier Amador), Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) for law enforcement and other organizations. They have always made themselves available to share what they’ve learned with friends, family, and strangers along the way. Since they have a passion for riding motorcycles and have attended numerous fundraising events in the generous biker community, it dawned on them one day to explore facilitating a Poker Run to help raise awareness for Mental Illness in addition to financial support for NAMI, since NAMI was such an important resource for them along their journey to help their loved ones.
NAMI’s MISSION: NAMI stands for National Alliance on Mental Illness NAMI provides advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. It’s a new day for mental health, and we are going to seize it — raising funds for NAMI’s free, top-rated programs will really make a difference! All at a time when we need it most! It spreads awareness for our cause and helps remove the stigma, so people are then free to “open up” and share their own stories. NAMIWalks is a powerful community builder. Included in their numerous support group programs is the NAMI VETERAN CONNECTION RECOVERY SUPPORT GROUP. Charlie’s father was a U.S. Marine Corp. Korean War Veteran (and NYC Police Officer) and Cindy’s father was an Army veteran, also in the Korean War.

I’m gonna continue the story from last month’s issue about Chris and Tracy. The stories you are gonna read today and in future issues are true and only the names were changed to protect the innocent just like that TV show Dragnet from the late As1960’s.welearned last month, Tracy discovered she could maximize her social security benefits and receive and extra 21,600 per year FROM MY FREE ADVICE. This extra income is of course used to take additional motorcycle trips. On one such trip, they headed north, riding in Northern Georgia through the Blue Ridge Mountains. They met JD and Sara in a restaurant. The two couples had much in common since they both rode in on motorcycles. Chris and Tracy were headed to the famous Tail of the Dragon in Deals Gap, North Carolina. JD and Sara said they had been there before, and you need to be careful of THE SEQUENCE OF TURNS. There are 318 turns, to be exact. Chris and Tracy laughed and told them I had been talking to them about the SEQUENCE OF RETURNS in their retirement plan and how important it is to have your retirement money in safe money accounts, not the Wall Street JDcasino.and Sara wanted an explanation of that since they were living off retirement from a 401k plan. So, they shared the story of another couple Bill and Jill who both retired with the exact same amount of Billmoney.retired in 1996. Jill retired three years later in 1999. Both withdrew the same amount per year, increasing it by 3% each year to account for inflation. When Bill retired, he had four years of market growth prior to a Bear Market. Jill only had one year of retirement prior to the Bear Market. Although they had both saved the same amount and had a common strategy, their different SEQUENCE OF RETURNS had a dramatic impact on their retirement Insavings.fact,at the end of 20 years, Bill had almost twice as much money in his account and Jill was almost all out of money. This example is using the S&P 500*Index annual returns from 1996 to 2020. TIMING IS EVERYTHING. Market volatility may pose major challenges when withdrawing money from retirement assets. Marc Lacourciere, the award-winning artist behind Motor Marc Art, is bringing his amazing art back to the High Seas Rally. A self-confessed “motor-head” sailing on the world’s only motorcycle rally on the high seas, this is Marc’s 18th time as the featured artist. He combines his love for high-tech machinery, passion for music, and extraordinary artistic talent to create incredible fine art. “I love mixing a nautical theme with pirates and motorcycles,” Marc tells us. Special artist proofs and prints of his latest painting always sell out during the cruise. He calls these collectible paintings the “Hidden Treasures” series that feature pirates, mermaids, custom motorcycles, and lots of gold doubloons to discover.
Duringsculpting.andhistime at St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Technology, Marc learned Mold Making and Die work. Became a toolmaker but kept drawing and painting on the side. By 1981, he was the creative director for Arnold Manufacturing and began working as a freelance automotive artist painting for Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors. In 1990, Marc started his own advertising agency Marc L. Tec, and finding the time to create a series of exotic auto fine art paintings. Then Marc created a series of collectible plates for the Bradford-Hamilton Collection featuring motorcycles. He worked alongside Easyriders magazine’s famous biker lifestyle artist David Mann and publisher Joe Teresi
There will also be several of his favorite pieces in the auction benefiting the High Seas Rally Dialysis Fund. Marc has been a major supporter of the dialysis fund since its inception and the High Seas Rally tells us they are proud to have his artistic vision and rock ‘n’ roll energy back on board for the cruise this October.

A LOOK BACK Born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on January 29, 1960, Motor Marc is known around the motorized world as a fine artist and sculptor who captures the lifestyle we love. In high school he took auto shop as well as the visual art programs. He has had a love affair with anything with a motor since he could walk and has a lifelong

Since 2005, Marc has created a special painting for the High Seas Rally every year and there are always hidden images within the paintings for you to find (like motorcycles and treasure under the waves).
In 2003, Marc was commissioned to do a painting for Harley-Davidson celebrating the company’s 100th Anniversary and Marc became an approved H-D artist. This led to no less a motorcycle legend than Willie G. Davidson granting Marc a commission to do paintings for Harley to be auctioned off in support of the Muscular Dystrophy RememberAssociation.The Discovery Channel’s American Choppers TV series? Marc was the licensed fine artist for their custom motorcycles and was asked to be part of Orange County Choppers’ American Tour in 2006. The non-stop action just kept coming as Marc became licensed by Hot Rod legend Boyd Coddington and Indian Motorcycles in 2009 and did gallery shows from coast to coast. His painting “Spirit of the Open Road” was a particular favorite. In 2010 Marc became a featured artist for the Barrett-Jackson car auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, producing memorable posters and programs. One of his prints for Barrett-Jackson was signed by automotive legend Carroll Shelby and Barry McGuire, fetching $90,000 from NASCAR team owner Rick Hendricks and the money was donated to the Darrell Gwynn Foundation supporting spinal cord injuries.
GIVING BACK One thing you should know about Motor Marc is that he is all about giving back. That includes helping to inspire kids, giving back to charities, and

STURGIS MOTORCYCLE RALLY
For many years, Motor Marc could be found painting away in his booth out at Black Hills Harley-Davidson during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally every August. In 2014, his Sturgis Gallery had expanded to over 100 titles or art and he hit record sales. The following year, his inspiring painting depicting all the two-wheeled fun of the ultimate rally was showcased at the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame for 75th Sturgis Rally. Then for the 76th Rally, Marc commemorated the 75th anniversary of the completion of Mount Rushmore. He continued painting new pieces for each Sturgis Rally as part of his Legend Rider series, even during the pandemic. For the 80th Rally in 2020, he did three special paintings to add to his popular series. You can still find his amazing art showcased each year in Rapid City at the Black Hills Harley dealership.

THE MAKING OF A LEGEND
At about this time Marc became famous as a biker artist at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and was also a hit at the Rock Legends Cruise for his music fine art. In 2010 he introduced a new collection of licensed music fine art, “The Legends of Rock of Roll” beginning with his tribute to the Rolling Stones. Rock legends like Ronnie Woods, Mick Jones, Dusty Hill inspired Marc to continue this collection and lead him to be a licensed artist for Fender Musical Instruments Corporation to create a one of a kind masterpiece painting of 32 of the best legend Fender guitar players.
No modern motorcycle artist has come close to creating the resounding legacy of paintings that capture the custom culture and motorcycle lifestyle as has Motor Marc. His preferred medium is watercolor gouache and acrylics on illustration board and canvas. But he has also been known to create by engraving on raw steel, etching into granite, sandblasting deep carving into glass, and has sculpted clay to create bronze sculptures. A artist with no “Creatinglimits. a new painting is more than a simple idea put onto canvas. My imagination takes over and my wildest dreams somehow become so realistic that I can almost feel it… live it. What you see on canvas was so much a part of me during the creative process, it’s like you’re getting a front row view of inside of my mind. As much as I love the creative process of my artistry, I think the best part of it all is seeing how much other people enjoy it. There’s no greater feeling than watching a client seeing their piece of art for the first time. Or when I set up my gallery and a veteran walks past and stops in his tracts, mesmerized by my military art. Or how a husband places his blind wife’s hand over one of my embellished prints as he explains to her what he sees as tears fall from her eyes. My entire life I’ve tried to be the best version of myself. I’ve tried to help people in need and I feel like my art has given me an outlet to do that. My art is my freedom of expression, and it’s a great blessing to be able to make people feel joy from what I consider, a god given talent. The series hopes to teach children how to draw and how to turn their creative dreams into a reality. In 2018, he created a painting honoring our veterans at Rolling Thunder 30. “Legend of Freedom” was unveiled in Washington, D.C. during Rolling Thunder and over 300 veterans signed this touching tribute. It was just one of many, many tributes to our military service people that Marc has been a proud part of. In 2021, he created the “Champions of Peace” painting honoring our World War II veterans and their stunning victory in winning the war. The noble painting includes ten veterans from the American, Canadian, and United Kingdom Armed Forces.

Right to the meat and taters of things why don’t we? I write every month to invoke thoughts in your heads to hopefully make others think in ways they may have not thought of before. I hate to say that I feel I have failed miserably, due to the fact or society is still on a downward slide. Our rights as Americans have slowly been sinking farther and farther into the abyss. The government, notice I didn’t say our government, due to the fact “our” government is suppose to be for the people and of the people, continues to violate and remove rights from us and a regular basis. Amusingly, you haven’t even had a say in the matter. How much more of your freedom are you willing to give up before you don’t have any? Prices are sky high and there’s no viable reason for if other than the rich stockpiling their own coffers while we pay their bills. Enough already. They are not only affecting our lives but in the process are taking away what we fought for our children to have. What will your children have to fight for or believe in? And old saying is you don’t miss what you never had. People, your are pissing away your children’s and this country’s future by leaving the political clown dynasties in office. People have become spoiled, complacent sheep and are being led to the slaughter. The saddest part is that they seem happy to do it. Our politicians seem more preoccupied with bad mouthing and attacking each other while they let our country to spiral.

Here’s a fact for you. If you can’t write it or read it, it might as well be a foreign language. If that happens, guess what else happens? You are allowing the very fabric of this nation to dissolve. After all, you wouldn’t be able to read the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, among some of the cornerstones that founded and shaped this country -- hence destroying our history. Ronald Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from Weextinction.”didn’tpass our freedoms to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same. Have we given up that fight? Are we a nation of sheep huddled together until the wolves come? Are we the generation that became so complacent that we are allowing the fall of this great nation? Got some news for some of you. Respect is earned. Freedom is earned. Greatness is earned. You’re not entitled to jack because of what was handed to some of you. Men and women died and fought so you have options. Don’t piss it away. It’s up to you. Don’t wait for someone else to start the work. Be the change. Lead the charge. If you don’t, start thinking up the excuse you’ll use to tell your children how you did nothing to stop the extinction of a great nation. I’m sure it will be a proud moment for some of you. It’s unfortunate at a younger age you couldn’t read so well and stood in the line that said bangs and ended up with more hair instead. At least the little bit you’ve retained helped us as we were leaving bike night last week when Pinellas’ finest stopped us before we got on the scoot. The officer said to him, ‘License and registration, please. We’re conducting a parking lot sobriety test. I’m going to ask you a cognitive question and depending on your answer will depend on what we do from Sincehere.’”Mike has sworn off drinking and riding, he replied, “I can pass any sobriety test you give me ‘cause I haven’t had one drop to drink today.” The officer then said, “All right, you’re driving down the road and you see two headlights coming at you, what is Mikeit?”answered, “That’s simple, it’s a car.”
Mike asked him, “So you’re driving and come upon a woman walking towards you in the middle of the road wearing a glittering skirt, red high heels, silver fishnet stockings, and two postage stamps for a bra. What is Theshe?”cop

Happy end of summer vibes my BTR friends. We’re looking forward to cooler weather and lower rain chances that the fall months bring. But of course, here in Florida, it’s now peak hurricane season. Choppertown Live Summer Daze was off the chains. Between the bikes, the bands, and the bodies that day, you couldn’t have asked for a more awesome experience at Orange County Choppers Roadhouse and Bert’s Barracuda Harley-Davidson. If you were there, you know. If you missed it, there will be another event soon! That day I had the privilege to add another steed to my list of two-, three- and fourwheeled machines I’ve ridden on, a lime green and black trike named Razer. It’s quite the child’s toy set up for the big boys. Mike got to use a pair of them and his friends to their full potential, tricycle racing and crowd pleasing. Although I must tell you my avid readers, the most dangerous part of those machines and the whole Razor experience is the nut that connects the seat to the handlebars. There’s always a lot of fun to be had and a barrel of laughs for the spectators when Mike does his crazy biker games. It also gives me perch time standing and hanging out on the Fat Bird 3 while kids feed me. Mike breaks in, “Thanks for the shout-out my funky colored chicken. You eat all the time, more than I do, and will take food from anybody. The way I look at it is if the world is going to laugh at me, I want to have a good time doing it. That tomfoolery would not have happened without us partnering with a great friend, Mike Mikola, and Lust 4 Steel promotions. Look for and come join in the shenanigans at an upcoming event soon!”
The officer handed Mike his registration and license back then walked away. Then Mike leaned over and whispered to me, “I may not be able to dazzle them with brilliance, but they can’t baffle me with their bullshit!”
