Tristan’s aspiration
Tristan Webb of Aspire Insurance took to the volcanic regions of Tanzania and trekked up Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Bournemouth Hospital Charity. Tristan completed the seven day long challenge via the Machame route to the summit in an incredible feat of athleticism - his journey even featured a bout of food poisoning, but that did not prevent him from reaching the summit of Kili! He had this to say, “It’s awesome to have found a way of utilising my position as Managing Director of Aspire Insurance to raise funds for such a worthwhile visible and accessible local charity like Bournemouth Hospital Charity, whilst achieving a true bucket list life enriching experience”.
Tristan has currently raised over £2,300 of his £3,000 target so far, specifically for BERTIE online, a piece of software offered to children suffering with Type 1 diabetes.
You can still donate to Tristan’s cause by visiting his MyDonate page and searching ‘Tristan Webb’!

WALK FOR WARDS SUCCESS
The Bournemouth Hospital Charity Team were so happy to see nearly 300 supporters show up to take part in Walk for Wards at Somerley House. We are thrilled that we have already raised over £31,000 and we continue to receive sponsorship money daily into the charity office - with the deadline for sponsorship being Friday 24 November.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our wonderful volunteers, Viscount and Viscountess Somerton, Rapid Relief and The Bright Centre - without their help, this event would not have been able to take place.

Nine Lessons and Carols
Christchurch Priory Come along to Christchurch Priory on Wednesday 12 December 7.30pm for a special Christmas service! Join hospital staff, patients and their loved ones for a wonderful free carol service which celebrates the Christmas story. The service features readings by hospital patients, consultants and chaplains, as well as prayers and carols for all to join in.
Special musical accompaniment will be provided by the Bournemouth Male Voice Choir. It’s a brilliant opportunity for you and your loved ones to celebrate this special time of year, not just with us, but with many other people from your community. While the service is free to attend, we would happily welcome any donations you may like to give towards your hospitals on the night.
Cancer support boosted
Breast Cancer Charity ‘Going For Bust’ has awarded Bournemouth Hospital Charity with a £10,000 donation to go towards the cost of providing a cancer care specialist nurse.
Each year, Bournemouth Hospital Charity fundraises for a cancer care specialist nurse who provides an informal one-stop
service to people affected by a cancer diagnosis. The donation from Going For Bust will help to fund this additional service. The cancer care nurse provides support to any patient undergoing chemotherapy and has in this past year supported over 200 patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
Calendars raise funds for Breast Cancer A grateful ex-patient has teamed up with her friends and family to make a special calendar in aid of our Charity and specifically the breast cancer unit. You can support them and buy a calendar for £10 from the Charity Office.
Golf Day Fundraiser Nurse Sarah Tripcony and her husband Steve arranged a Charity Golf Day at Remedy Oak earlier this year, having previously raised over £395,000 over the last 12 years for the Colon Cancer Department at the hospital. James Pratt, a patient of the Colon Cancer Department, got involved in the Golf Day had this to say: “I wanted give something back following the wonderful care provided by the whole department team headed by Rob Howell.” A delicious evening dinner and a raffle completed the event and a total of £19,618 was raised.

ENDOSCOPY FUNDRAISING SUCCESS After months of fundraising, the Endoscopy team has welcomed two new Insufflator machines. The team raised nearly £3,000 for our charity by organising cake sales, selling raffle tickets and through generous donations from patients. The insufflators improve the patient experience by reducing pain and reducing readmission rates. Endoscopy Sister Samantha Hornby-Wykes rallied the Endoscopy team together to take part in the variety of fundraising activities for the new equipment. “We’d like to thank everyone who contributed, volunteered and got involved. All of their support was very much appreciated.”

She has raised over £2,500 for the Bournemouth Diabetes and Endocrine Centre through these activities and we would like to recognise her ongoing support for the charity.
