Walkerbot Appeal
WeLCOME! We want to say a huge thank you to all our supporters, especially as we enter this busy time of year at our hospitals. Your donations have enabled us to support our NHS Heroes throughout these exceptional times and will continue to provide extra support throughout the winter months. We have seen amazing generosity from so many businesses, organisations, community groups and individuals. We are extremely lucky to have such wonderful staff and are forever grateful for all their hard work throughout the year. As we look ahead to 2021, we’d like to thank you for playing your part to support our NHS Heroes. You continue to help us to provide the hospitals with additional facilities, state-of-the-art new equipment as well as resources for our staff, o ver and above what the NHS can fund. Thank you for all your support!
We’re nearly there! Thanks to your generous support we have now raised over £295,000! We are stepping closer to our £365,000 target to fund a state-of-the-art Walkerbot for our stroke unit. Over 720 people are admitted to our hospital each year with stroke 75% of these have lower limb weakness The brain can adapt and people can relearn to walk through repetition and practice
Help us reach our target! Why not fundraise by hosting a virtual drinks party or coffee morning, by taking on a virtual running or cycling challenge, or by joining us for our Ben Nevis Trek? NHS Heroes support We continue to be amazed by the level of support we receive from our local community. Thank you to everyone who has donated to our NHS Heroes appeal to help us support the mental and physical wellbeing of our staff during these uncertain times. To help us make sure we are supporting our staff with what they need, we asked them for feedback on what they would like to see the money spent on. The most popular requests have been put forward for funding and we look forward to seeing them implemented in the future.
Safe spaces We have secured a new safe space for staff at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Safe spaces are quiet areas where individuals or teams can decompress or debrief after a difficult, traumatic or challenging time at work.
Additional wellbeing support This will include resilience workshops, further staff supports and an increase in physical activity provision. Targeted health checks and reverse mentoring is also planned for those who are potentially more liable to health challenges, including colleagues from a BAME background or those with disabilities and/or underlying health conditions.
Feya, Mental Health Nurse
Team recognition fund We have helped create a local recognition fund of approximately £10 per member of staff across all teams. Managers will liaise with their teams to agree how they will spend their ‘local pot’ to ensure it benefits the wellbeing of the whole team. This can include white goods for their areas such as kettles or microwaves, radios, music subscription services, potted plants and more.
Enhanced wellbeing support We are delighted to be able to maintain this support and ensure it is more sustainable. A lead psychologist, qualified counsellor, wellbeing practitioner and physiotherapist are being appointed to maintain individual and team wellbeing support for the next 12 months. Donate to our NHS Heroes appeal online at BHCharity.org/donations or by calling our Charity Office on 0300 019 4060.
Corporate and communty Throughout our coronavirus emergency appeal we received such incredible support from businesses, organisations and community groups. This generosity has exceeded our expectations and has helped to support our amazing NHS Heroes. Thank you to the 21 local Masonic Lodges who have shown support for their NHS heroes by donating £12,500 to our NHS Heroes appeal! Thank you so much for this donation.
A wheely excellent donation for NHS hospital heroes from Christchurch Halfords! Seven NHS heroes have been gifted brand new bikes after having theirs stolen while on shift during the coronavirus pandemic. Support a Project
