A Letter from the Executive Director Residents of Bolingbrook, I want to begin by personally thanking you for your patience during the COVID-19 shut down. We’re grateful for all the doctors, nurses, first responders, police and firefighters in Bolingbrook that have been on the front lines keeping our community safe and healthy. This has been an interesting time for everyone, including Bolingbrook Park District. We were sorry to have to cancel so many programs and events that we know our community has grown to love over the years. There has been some good news to report: We have been able to move forward with the projects that are included in the 2018 referendum ask. This includes the renovation project at the Bolingbrook Recreation & Aquatic Complex. On the next few pages, you’ll see renderings of what the finished project will look like. Additionally, you’ll see what the five new playgrounds will look like that are set to be built this summer, an update of the pathway’s connection project, and the lazy river island at Pelican Harbor Outdoor Aquatic Park. Needless to say, we’re all very excited for you to get out and see all the fun things coming to Bolingbrook. With that said, the Board of Commissioners and I want to extend our gratitude and appreciation to all of you. This has been a challenging time for all of us and we care for each and every one of you and your families. As we all move forward, we’re going to be here for you. One of the ways we’re adapting is to have our summer program guide in digital form. See the next page for details on how to view it. This digital format allows us to evolve to meet your programming needs in this changing environment as we begin to return to daily life. The one thing that’s not changing is that we’re going to have fun, that much I can promise you. It may look different, it may be at your own pace, but we are “Where the fun is!” and nothing can take that away from us. When you’re ready, we hope you are able to come out and take a program, learn a new skill, or spend time with your family as you tour our parks for the 50th Anniversary Parks Challenge featured in the back of this brochure. Even if it’s as simple as taking a walk in a park, fun is something we can all get behind. So, when you’re ready, our team will be excited to welcome you back. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Sincerely,
Ron Oestreich, Executive Director 1
