A LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dear Residents of the Bolingbrook Park District,
Winter can be a challenging time of the year. The amount of daylight is shorter, temperatures are colder and the holidays can be stressful. It is also a magical time filled with opportunities for gathering with family and friends in celebration. In that, we are excited to play a part. There is no shortage of fun at the Bolingbrook Park District!
If you are ready to finish 2024 strong and set plans for 2025, I invite you to explore our winter brochure to find the perfect activities for you. Whether your priorities are individual skill development or family fun, there is something for everyone. Pursue the adventure of rock climbing, the warmth of a bonfire or build up a Rockin’ Red Zumba-sized sweat with us! Perhaps you prefer dinner and trivia, live music or comedy nights at Ashbury’s Boughton Ridge. You or your family members can explore interests in gymnastics, swimming, dancing, basketball, pickleball, racquetball and much more.
Participating in our winter programs creates amazing opportunities to connect with family, friends and neighbors. It’s a perfect time to embrace the beauty of the season and make lifelong memories in our parks and facilities. There are 50 parks, over 20 miles of trails, a golf course with a restaurant, an indoor aquatic center, fitness center and two community centers where you can enjoy yourselves while encouraging the growth of your social, emotional and physical well-being.
A few highlights from 2024 include replacing playgrounds at Bloomfield Oasis, Champions and Lilac Parks; replacing the roof on the Annerino Community Center; breaking ground on a new spray park; making numerous updates to the indoor and outdoor pools and equipment at Pelican Harbor and to our pathways throughout our park system; and at Ashbury’s Boughton Ridge, we’ve replaced bunkers, updated patio furniture and menu items. In 2025 we will open the new spray park at Central Park and the new Jerry Hix Park in Sawgrass. We’ll replace Gateway Wetlands and Knights of Columbus playgrounds and complete a variety of updates to facilities and equipment at our community centers, in our parks and on our pathways.
Let’s finish up 2024 strong. Join us in keeping Bolingbrook Park District a vibrant place for everyone. We are looking forward to a wonderful winter season filled with fun, connection and growth.
Warm
Wishes, Mike Selep Executive Director

Education & Camps
Two unique Sites... One Common Goal... Create a Learner for Life
Bolingbrook Park District preschool programs, offered for children ages 2 ½ to 5 years of age, believes in "Learning through Play." Play is the most important aspect of a child's life. It is their work; where they learn to interact, share and cooperate. Through play, a child is not only building a strong foundation for intellectual development but is also learning how to deal with emotions, decision making and problem solving. Carefully supervised free play is vital and is designed to be safe and appropriate for the age group. Preschool curriculum concepts for the school year include the following areas; pre-writing/writing, interest, math/science, early literacy, gross motor, music and art creation. The teacher's role is vital throughout the day as a co-discoverer (not merely dispenser) of knowledge and facilitator (not merely manager) of play. Preschoolers in these programs are preparing for success in future learning.
Preschool Programs
SOON 2B3 PROGRAM

Development of social skills, large and small motor skills, and basic curriculum concepts are a part of your child’s day. Diapers and pull-ups are acceptable to begin with, but children should be on their way to taking care of their own toileting needs. This class runs 2 days per week.
3
YEAR OLD PROGRAM
This program nurtures a 3 year old’s social and emotional growth and provides a curriculum focusing on letters, numbers, shapes and colors and the beginning stages of writing. This class runs 2 or 3 days per week.

YOUTH & TEEN DANCE CLASSES
Keep in mind: While the dance department offers classes by session, students should take a class for at least one year or more, until the requirements of the next level have been mastered. Participating in a class for just a session or two may not be a sufficient length of time to adequately prepare the student for the next level of training. While ages have been provided in the brochure’s description of classes they do not supersede the recommendation of the teacher. Please stay in a level until the teacher recommends advancement. *Do not hesitate to request feedback or evaluation from your teacher.
