Boy Kills World
When Boy (Skarsgard) is a child, he, his mother and sister are chosen for The Culling, an annual event where the rulers of their dystopian city, the Van Der Koy family, gather 12 people from the city and execute them on live television. Boy’s mother and sister are killed, but he is left for dead, having been rendered deaf and mute. A Shaman (Ruhian) finds Boy and nurses him back to health. Years later, an adult Boy is being mentored by Shaman, training to become a fighter so that he may avenge his mother and sister’s deaths at the next Culling.

The Last Stop in Yuma County
At a remote location in Yuma County, Arizona, in the 1970s, a traveling knife salesmen (Cummings) stops at a gas station motel to refuel. The pumps, however, are dry, and the salesmen is forced to await a refueling truck expected to arrive soon, as the next station is over
100 miles away. While he waits at a local diner and acquaints himself with the waitress, Charlotte (Donahue), two bank robbers arrive, on the run from their latest robbery in Buckeye, where they made off with $250,000. While the robbers take Charlotte and the salesman hostage to await the refueling truck or the next passerby with enough fuel in their tank, the salesman and Charlotte plot their own escape.

“Vikings: Valhalla” - Season 3
Set sail on the third and final season of “Vikings: Valhalla,” embarking on its final journey Thursday, July 11, on Netflix. A spinoff of History Channel’s flagship series “Vikings,” from creator Michael Hirst (“The Tudors”), the historical drama “Valhalla” continues the story 100 years after “Vikings” concluded. Set in the early 11th century, the series chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived — including the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett, “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”), his fiery and headstrong sister, Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson, “The Witcher”), and the ambitious Nordic Prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter, “Sanditon”). Bringing the story to its conclusion, the eightepisode third season picks back up seven years after the conclusion of Season 2. As described by Netflix, “Freydis is now the undisputed leader of pagan Jomsborg, and Leif and Harald have achieved glory in Constantinople. But greater challenges lie ahead in order for each to reach their ultimate destiny.” Created by Jeb Stuart (“Die Hard,” 1988), “Vikings: Valhalla” Season 3 also stars David Oakes (“Victoria”), Taylor James (“The Beekeeper,” 2024), Kayode Akinyemi (“The House Invictus,” 2020), Sharon McCoy (“Sisters,” 2020), Florian Munteanu (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” 2021), Amalia Holm (“Motherland: Fort Salem”) and Leander Vyvey (“The Postcard Killings,” 2020). The series is executive produced by Stuart, Hirst, Morgan O’Sullivan (“Harry Wild”), Sheila Hockin (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Steve Stark (“Fargo”), James Flynn (“Vikings”), John Weber (“Star Trek: Discovery”), Sherry Marsh (“Pose”), Alan Gasmer (“The Mosquito Coast”) and Paul Buccieri (“Forged in Fire”).
“Mastermind: To Think Like a Killer” Take a deep dive into exactly what makes a killer tick and the woman whose innovations changed history with the new limited docuseries “Mastermind: To Think Like a Killer,” premiering Thursday, July 11, on Hulu. The series follows Dr. Ann Burgess, “the mastermind behind the development of modern serial-killer profiling” (per Hulu), the series tells Burgess’ impressive story, from her tenacity in crime fighting to her compassion for victims. Alongside her impressive investigative innovations, these qualities led Burgess to take on some of America’s most infamous true crime cases — including internationally notorious criminals Ed Kemper and Ted Bundy, among many others. As she “investigates and studies the damaged psyches of victims and their attackers, putting two halves of the same story together to catch a killer” (Hulu), Dr. Burgess’ work leaves an enduring legacy on modern investigative practices. “Mastermind: To Think Like a Killer” comes from executive producers Dakota Fanning (“Ripley”) and Elle Fanning (“The Great”), showrunner Dani Sloane (“Ren Faire”) and director Abby Fuller (“Chef’s Table”).
“Sasha Reid and The Midnight Order” - Season 1
The mysteries continue on Hulu when Freeform’s newest docuseries, “Sasha Reid and The Midnight Order,” premieres on the streamer Wednesday, July 10. Dr. Sasha Reid, along with her secret society of young women, is on a quest to understand “the dark psychology of those who commit harm,” all with a “desire to protect those that law enforcement has ignored” (per Freeform). While they all come from vastly different backgrounds and bring a variety of different skills to the table, Dr. Reid and her society “band together to work outside the system to protect the vulnerable, solve cold cases and dive into the dark minds of killers using forensic expertise and world-class data skills” (Freeform). Working to their motto, “To have compassion first but let the evidence lead” (Freeform), the group includes Anjali Arora, Marina Jarenova, Ayah Ellithy, Florence Tang, Hana Georgoulis and Hasti Pourriahi alongside Dr. Reid. From director Nancy Schwartzman (“Victim/Suspect,” 2023) and showrunner Maija Norris (“The First 48”), the series is executive produced by Schwartzman, Norris, Justin Lacob (“Champions of the Golden Valley,” 2024), Kathleen Flood (“A House Is Not a Disco,” 2024) and Bryn Mooser (“Lakota Nation vs. United States,” 2022).
“Descendants: The Rise of Red” (2024) School is back in session this Friday, July 12, when the newest installment of the Descendants franchise, “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” makes its debut on Disney+. Once a Villain Kid herself, Uma (China Anne McClain, “Black Lightning”) is now the headmaster of Auradon Prep, keeping a watchful eye over the growing generation of Villain Kids. Extending an invitation to the school to Red (Kylie Cantrall, “Gabby Duran & The Unsittables”), the rebellious daughter of the tyrannical Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora, “Pokémon: Detective Pikachu,” 2019) from Wonderland, Uma unknowingly opens to door for a revenge plot decades in the making. Having long held a grudge against the school — and against Cinderella (Brandy Norwood, “Queens”) in particular — the Queen of Hearts uses her daughter’s school drop-off to incite a coup against Auradon. Working to save the school and prevent further disaster, Red teams up with Cinderella’s perfectionist daughter Chloe (Malia Baker, “The Baby-Sitters Club”), taking a time-traveling adventure into the past as they “try to undo the traumatic event that set the young Queen of Hearts down her villainous path” (per Disney). Written for the screen by Dan Frey (“The Fundamentals,” 2019) and Russel Sommer (“Generation Gap,” 2008), the movie is directed by Jennifer Phang (“Stargirl”). “Descendants: The Rise of Red” also stars Jeremy Swift (“Ted Lasso”) as Merlin, Dara Reneé (“High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”) as Uliana, Ruby Rose Turner (“Coop and Cami Ask the World”) as Bridget, Morgan Dudley (“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”) as Ella, Paolo Montalban (“Cinderella,” 1997) as King Charming, Melanie Paxson (“Saving Mr. Banks,” 2013) as Fairy Godmother, Leonardo Nam (“Westworld”) as Maddox Hatter, Grace Narducci (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) as Fay, Joshua Colley (“Dead Boy Detectives”) as Hook and Peder Lindell (“Scraps,” 2024) as Morgie.
