Story - Rahul Kamath Listen

The lion and the mongoose were drinking water by the pond. The lion looked ferociously at the mongoose and said, “I want to eat you.” Mongoose, unmoved, said, “What will you do eating me? I’m so small. I won’t even fill your stomach.” The lion said, “True. You are very small. What good can you be?” and walked away. At night, when the lion was sleeping in his den and his cub was outside sleeping, a snake slithered by and was about to bite the cub, the mongoose jumped from the tree and fought valiantly against the snake and killed it. The lion came out of his den and saw the snake dead with mongoose standing on top. The mongoose said, “Here’s your food. And Oh! I may be small but I don’t go down without a fight.” The lion felt bad for what he had said earlier and apologized to the Mongoose and they became good friends. Moral: Don’t judge a book by its cover

Hobby

- Rahul Kamath

There are over 60,000 species of trees in the world. Each tree has a different type of a leaf. No two trees have similar type of leaves. Leaf collection can be a thrilling hobby and as you collect leaves, you can identify the trees just by looking at each leaf. The leaves have to be pressed (dried) first and then they can be stuck in your notebook. Leaf collection is a dying art but you can revive it.

Story Listen

A rabbit named Champu lived in a forest. He was very proud to have many friends. One day, Champu heard that a hunter was looking for rabbits in the forest. He felt afraid and decided to ask for help. He quickly went to his friend deer. He said, “Dear friend, a hunter is looking for rabbits. Can you chase him away with your sharp antlers?” The deer said, “That is right, I can. But, now I am busy. Why don’t you ask bear for help?” Champu ran to the bear. “My dear friend, you are very strong. Please help me. A hunter is looking for rabbits. Can you please chase him away?” he requested the bear. The bear replied, “I am sorry. I am hungry and tired. I need to find some food. Please ask the monkey for help.” Poor Champu went to the monkey, the elephant, the goat and all his other friends. Champu felt sad that nobody was ready to help him. He understood that he had to think of a way out by himself. He hid under a bush. He lay very still. The hunter didn’t find him and went away. Champu rabbit learnt that he had to learn to survive by himself, not depending on his unhelpful friends. Moral: It is better to rely on yourself than depend on others.

Story - Raell Bose Once, there were two friends, a donkey and a fox. They did everything together.

Listen

One day, when they were searching for food, they stopped by a hungry lion. The lion roared and said, “I will eat you for lunch!’. The donkey got scared. But the fox said, “I will go talk to the lion”. The fox then showed his true cunning nature and told the lion that he would help him capture the donkey, but his life should be spared. The lion agreed and the fox somehow tricked the donkey into falling into a deep pit. As soon as the donkey fell, the lion jumped onto the fox and ate him up! He did not eat the donkey, as he would have himself got stuck in the pit if he jumped in to eat.

On this day, we recognise that the search for happiness and being happy in life are the main goals for us, humans. Happiness does not come from owning all the toys, it comes from being joyful about the ones you already have. To be happy – • Develop a hobby • Be kind and help others • Smile
