If it’s November 1, it’s time for Ozark Mountain Christmas, a spectacular Christmas celebration filled with lights, music and joy. Branson’s lineup of Christmas events through January 7 is truly something to behold, with celebrations (and lights) at literally every turn.

Branson’s star performers are ready to share the holidays with you and your family. The last weeks of 2023 and into the new year, many of the live music shows convert to Christmas versions of their productions. With dazzling costuming and sets, Branson’s entertaining families celebrate the reason for the season in song and dance. There’s no better way to get in the holiday spirit than by enjoying a Branson Christmas show. From country music to Broadway-style productions, pop songs to Christmas carols, Branson’s lineup of live performances offers a wide

variety of holiday entertainment, and you’ll leave each show feeling nothing but merry!

Silver Dollar City’s “An Old Time Christmas” event features the largest concentration of lights in Branson… 6.5 million, to be exact (that’s nearly 700 miles of lights)! Visitors can stroll among the twinkling lights while enjoying live holiday shows at the park, including “Home for Christmas,” a Broadway-style production. The Frisco Silver Dollar Sing-Along Steam Train takes passengers on a 20-minute musical journey complete with the story of Jesus’s birth. A brilliant light parade also winds its way through the streets of Silver Dollar City twice each night. And guests can enjoy holiday culinary offerings that run the gamut from root beer-glazed ham to freshly churned peppermint ice cream. Awarded #1 “Best Theme Park Holiday

Event” for five years by USA Today/10Best readers’ poll.

Take the family to one of the drivethrough light displays: Branson’s Lights of Joy will be shining super LED bright with hundreds of scenes featured, near Sight & Sound Theatres; Let There Be Lights at Promised Land Zoo is the largest drive-through display in the Ozarks and has a Living Nativity with real live animals; celebrate the season at Shepherd of the Hill’s North Pole Adventure, a walk-through experience that takes you through thousands of twinkling lights, visit Santa and his reindeer, see lights all over the Ozarks from Inspiration Tower, ride on Rudolph’s Hayride, and more.

The 75th Adoration Parade takes place on Sunday, December 3 at dusk. Branson celebrates keeping Christ in Christmas on

this special night. With the lighting of the Adoration scene atop Mt. Branson, it is an overwhelming outpouring of love from our community as we come together to honor the story of Jesus’ birth.

With more than 1,700 Christmas trees throughout the destination in 2022, Branson’s “WE ALL SHINE ON!” third annual community Christmas tree display was adorned with nearly 200 brightly lit stars of many shapes, sizes, and colors. The 2022 display, located in the heart of Branson’s Entertainment District near the Branson Ferris Wheel, is a celebration of unity and perseverance. Together, this creative and varied community continues to shine on in unique and beautiful ways. Along with a colorful centerpiece tree, visitors can expect to see up to 60 major trees around town plus 1,000 decorated Christmas trees at Silver Dollar City theme park.

Holidays remind us of the importance of preserving history and time-honored family traditions. At the Shepherd of the Hills Homestead, A Shepherd’s Christmas Carol does just that. While the audience indulges in a full turkey dinner and pumpkin dessert, a true Christmas classic starring your favorite characters from the Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Drama happens right before your very eyes.

If New Year’s Eve requires a resolution to start on a memorable note, Branson has a variety of entertainment options that are family-friendly. But if you’re wanting a romantic getaway with your special someone, we have that, too. There are plenty of shows taking the stage each December 31 in Branson.

Branson has received quite a few holiday accolades over the years: Named one of the best Christmas destinations in America by NBC’s Today Show (Best Holiday Travel Deal), USA Today, Travel Channel, Fodor’s, Pioneer Woman, FOX News, Esquire, AARP, Forbes, Yahoo and Tripadvisor are just a few.

REUNIONS

2. DETERMINE ATTENDANCE AND SET THE DATE

Dates for the reunion should be confirmed at least a year in advance to allow members to plan for vacation time and save money for the trip. Send out “Save The Date” notifications. If people are traveling a considerable distance to attend, it is a good idea to take several days for the reunion, or at least a long weekend. And remember, no date is going to be perfect for everyone, so develop a consensus.

This special “Reunion Section” is specifically designed to provide you with information to ensure a successful, wellplanned and highly attended reunion. No matter the affinity of the reunion you may plan – Military, Family, or Class Reunion – a Branson itinerary is sure to please everyone.

The Branson Convention & Visitors Bureau provides a valuable complimentary service which allows you to obtain proposals based on your lodging specifications, group information on our fabulous shows and attractions, restaurants and caterers and essential transportation needs. Request expert and dependable event planning services from Branson’s package travel companies for your reunion through our Request For Proposal (RFP) service on the next page. To submit an RFP simply visit www.ExploreBranson.com/groups/ reunions and click “Submit an RFP.” Or call 417-243-2105 for helpful staff assistance.

4. MAKE IT EASY AND SAVE TIME – SUBMIT AN RFP

The Leisure Group Sales staff offers a wealth of services to make your planning easy. One of the most valuable complimentary services is the opportunity for you to submit an RFP to gain bids for lodging, dining, tickets to various shows and attractions, planning services and more. All you need to do is provide the information, then sit back and wait for the bids to come to you.

The Branson Convention & Visitors Bureau is your ticket to planning a successful reunion in Branson. These 10 tips have been developed to help in your planning process. Because we know that planning your reunion well in advance with a timeline of what to do and when are important tools to work with.

1. DETERMINE THE PURPOSE

If the reunion is to bring together people who have not seen each other for many years, the activities you plan may be quite different than those for a family whose members see each other more often.

3. DETERMINE BUDGET

Determine costs incurred by the group (i.e., catering or group meals, facilities rental, postage, etc.) and divide among the participants. Some reunions charge a “registration fee” to cover incidentals. Make sure that you specify exactly what is and what is not included in the fee when you send out the invitations. You will want to set a due date in advance (a couple of months at least), for a percentage of the fee to be sent to you. This will also help solidify the guest list. Keep good records, maintain the set budget while staying in communication.

5. SELECT LODGING AFTER RECEIVING RFP RESPONSES

Branson has many great lodging properties and camping facilities available from value-priced motels to lakefront resorts and luxury hotels. When booking your lodging, ask the reservationist if your group size qualifi es for a group discount. Consider whether your reunion would like a hospitality room, banquet room, catered meals on-site and/or a restaurant on-site or within walking distance.

Upon making reservations, request a confirmation letter from the lodging property spelling out all the details to

10
HELPFUL ps
[44] www.ExploreBranson.com

avoid surprises. The letter should include dates, number of people, price per person, cancellation terms and any other pertinent details. Review it thoroughly before signing and discuss any questions right away. Feel free to contact the Branson Convention & Visitors Bureau if you have any questions or would like to set up a site tour before making a final selection.

6. SELECT SUB-COMMITTEES TO SHARE THE WORK

Not only does this help spread the responsibilities, it also allows people to feel part of the effort. Some suggestions are:

• Accommodations that may include hospitality space

• Meals that may include banquets and/ or catered events

• Activities you will do as a group or on your own

• Publicity within the group and invitations by email or mail

• Specialty items such as group T-shirts, memory books, a photographer, or other items

7. PLAN ITINERARY

Plan activities members can enjoy together, while also allowing some “free time” for visiting and enjoying Branson’s surroundings. Branson offers many venues which are group friendly with activities such as lake cruises, theaters, dinner shows and outdoor adventures. Consult the listings in this planner and you will find something for everyone.

8. PLAN MEALS

Determine how many meals you will eat together – which meals are “on your own” and which group meals can be included in the “registration fee.” Decide if the meals will be banquet, buffet, or reception style; a mixture of these options is usually a good idea. When making reservations at a restaurant for a large group, request a letter of confirmation that spells out the details and cost of beverage, meal, tax and gratuity and any service fees attached. Be sure to have your guests notify you if they have special dietary needs and add that to the contract before signing and returning. You could include space for this in your registration form.

9. NOTIFY ATTENDEES

Once you have finalized your itinerary, it is now time to send out your detailed invitations. Do this well in advance (six months to eight months out) and send a reminder several weeks before the occasion. Include dates, accommodation details, a preliminary itinerary, reunion contact person with phone number, all costs, payment procedure, and appropriate clothing and other incidentals. This internet link will take you to our website page with information about our year-round climate: www.explorebranson. com/info/weather-trends

10. ENLIST ASSISTANCE

Retain the committees throughout the event so that one person does not have to take care of all the details. Delegate tasks before the event: set-up, cooking, clean-up, picture taking and other tasks. As the event approaches, remember to always be prepared. Have a contingency plan for inclement weather; provide extra sunscreen, simple first aid materials, snacks and other needs.

Nestled in the Ozark Mountains, Branson is perfect for your next military reunion; after all, there’s no place that brings people together like Branson. Our small town has a big heart and is filled with friendly people ready to make your reunion the best it can be.

“Welcome Home!” and “Thank you for your service!” resound as greetings throughout the community. Branson veteran organizations hold special events to honor the commitment and service of our country’s veterans and active-duty personnel throughout the year. One of the largest of these annual events, recognized on FOX News for many years, is Branson Veterans Homecoming Week, occurring every year November 5-11. And in 2023 we will host our 90th Annual Veteran’s Day Parade: November 11th at 11am in Downtown Branson. To learn more visit www.ExploreBranson.com/Veterans

In Branson, we believe the sacrifices made by our military veterans and their families should be celebrated 365 days a year. Several war memorials and educational displays are located in and near Branson, marking the sacrifice of servicemen and

women from different eras of military history. Veterans and visitors journey to these exhibits year-round to remember and pay respect to our heroes.

The Branson Convention & Visitors Bureau is always “at the ready” to help planners get squared away for their own “Operation: Branson Military Reunion.” We are eager to help you find lodging and other services through the complimentary RFP service in order to create an event that is both exciting and relaxing for all attendees. In order to make the most of your time previewing our patriotic community, call our Reunion Desk at 417243-2121 and ask for assistance with best procedures before your arrival in town.

The Branson CVB services will enable you to be “at-ease,” enjoying “R&R” in the atmosphere of our patriotic heritage as we salute your service!
