Welcome Welcome to the 2019 Chamber Means Business Exhibition. Today’s event, sees the eighth year of ‘Chamber Means Business’, which was originally developed to bring businesses across the region together. I am personally delighted that we are returning to the New York Stadium, following the exhibition we hosted back in 2012 when the stadium first opened its doors. Without the hard work of Chamber staff and the commitment of our Patrons, all our exhibitors and the joint event sponsors Burrows Fleet & Business Centre, KAT Communications, Osborne Technologies and Castle Steel Buildings the exhibition would not be possible, and I extend my personal thanks to all of them. We are also delighted to welcome Dan Jarvis, our regional mayor, to the event in the morning and in the afternoon a seminar is provided by one of our long standing patrons Westfield Health , who are celebrating their centenary this year. I hope you get as much out of the day as you expect. However, the key to successful events like this are the number of visitors that take the time out of their busy schedules to come along and see what the Chamber and its key partners can do for them and take the opportunity to catch up with what is happening across our local economy. I encourage all visitors to take the time to have a good look around the exhibition and use your time to get to know as many people as you can. There is plenty of activities taking place for you to join in with and we have our two seminar sessions for you to attend. Both myself and several Chamber staff are in attendance so, if you would like to find out what we can do for your business, please come and see us and we can start helping you today. Live Well. Think Well. Work Well. 1pm | Boardroom (Floor 2) Productivity is lower in the Northern Powerhouse regions and a key reason is that health is also worse in the North. With an ageing workforce, employers need to take a distinct approach to make sure their health and wellbeing needs are proactively met, ensuring their older employees are kept well, engaged and productive. This is particularly important for smaller employers where absence costs can have a significant impact on productivity and profitability. Richard Holmes, Director of Wellbeing / Managing Director of Working Health at Westfield Health, will be talking about wellbeing, productivity and performance in the workplace and what learnings we can take from elite sport. Richard is a health and wellbeing expert who has dedicated his career to improving people’s quality of life. He’s passionate about the impact of health and wellbeing on business and individual performance, and manages Westfield Health’s exclusive partnership with Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre. Richard has been cited in, and contributed to, a number of wellbeing articles across trade and consumer titles, including The Metro, Employee Benefits and Occupational Health.

Representation

It’s our objective to ensure that your voice – whatever the size of your Business – is heard. All companies and businesses are subject to business influences over which they have no control – for example; BREXIT, business taxation and international barriers to trade. We will continue to keep you as informed as possible on the many issues affecting your business and also keep you up to date with a variety of reports and surveys that influence economic and business thinking across the region. It remains to be the case that businesses are a stronger voice together as part of the Chamber than on their own. As part of our on-going engagement and representational activities, the Chamber continues to host a range of relevant events designed to involve our members and wider partners in the work we do and lobbying we undertake.

Working groups: • Policy and Membership Action Group • Construction Forum • Manufacturing Forum • Transport Working Group

• Women in Business • International Trade Forum • Skills Working Group

The Stadium

The AESSEAL New York Stadium is one of the premier spaces for medium to large meetings, conferences and away days in the north of England. Opened in the summer of 2012, the stadium is the beloved home of Rotherham United and deservedly so. It offers fans and business groups alike, gorgeous views over the pitch, high-spec meeting and hospitality rooms and break-out spaces. Menus are regularly developed with seasonality, regional tastes, special dietary requirements and current meeting and event packages in mind – whether it be a hot and hearty match day pie, a scrumptious day delegate lunch or an elegant and delicious wedding breakfast, there’s sure to be something to suit your taste and budget. Leading caterer and stadia expert Centerplate has played an integral role in this, striving to make events even better than the last, and offering guests one-of-a-kind culinary experiences. With Centerplate supported venues up and down the country, it also aims to support local community initiatives, whether that be sponsoring the local kids football team or sending the head of sales to charity programmes for jobseekers. The stadium itself can hold up to and cater for 600 guests in total, with 6 AV enabled rooms, free Wi-Fi and parking and the option to create bar and food stations within the modern spaces available. The stadium offers daily delegate packages that treat guests to tasty food all day long, from healthy yoghurt and granola breakfasts to decadent barbeque platters. Whilst the venue has hosted the likes of Delia Smith and Frank Bruno, it primarily hosts local businesses wanting a fully flexible and modern space, and large public bodies needing fantastic meals for hundreds of hard-working staff.

To book your next AESSEAL New York Stadium meeting or conference, call 01709 827780 or email sales-nystadium@centerplate.co.uk.
