From 1st January 2010, UKCG’s 29 member companies will adopt the new standard (SSSTS) to ensure that supervisors working on their sites can demonstrate they have the necessary knowledge and skills to supervise their workers effectively. This course is intended to give site supervisors a clear understanding of how health and safety affects their role and the practical steps they can take to ensure a safe site.
NOCN Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment is aimed at anyone who works, or wants to work, in the construction industry and needs a CSCS Labourers Green Card. There are no formal entry requirements.
It provides an introduction to health and safety, welfare and environmental issues for those requiring an understanding of their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. It will provide a sound knowledge base to enable them to give valuable assistance in safely managing a construction site.
This award is available from Action Housing as a one day course where learners complete an NOCN workbook for submission and certification. Prior learning before the one day course is a requirement and all learners are given a learner handbook to read through beforehand to develop their health and safety in construction knowledge. Extra tutorial time can be arranged if necessary.

Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in Europe, affecting about 700,000 individuals a year. Many victims of sudden cardiac arrest can survive if bystanders act immediately; electrical defibrillation is well established as the only effective therapy for cardiac arrest. The chance of survival diminishes by between 710% for every minute the casualty does not receive defibrillation.
Following the recent change in legislation, in the Autum of 2016 it will be compulsory for all new nursery and preschool staff to undertake paediatric first aid training. This Ofqual Accredited Level 3 Award in Paediatric First aid meets these requirements. This course also meets Ofsted requirements for registered childminders and the requirements under the Approved Carers Scheme. This course is QCF recognised and can also be used as evidence for employees working towards a Level 1 or 2 NVQ in Childcare and Education. The course focuses on emergency scenarios that professionals and family members could face at any time when caring for children. Learners who successfully complete the course will be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt and effective first aid in emergency situations involving young children.
