As with any good festival there’s too much to choose from so to help you we’re tried to identify different styles of events. You may not know the creator/s but the style of event may appeal to you. We also have a few key themes this year which, again, may provide a route through the festival for you. There will be signing and sketching after each event as EVENTS appropriate. EVENTS

As ever with so many events it’s difficult to cover everything here but you’ll find much greater detail about each event on our website at www.comicartfestival.com where you’ll also be able to book your tickets.

Many of the venues are small giving you an opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with the artists and providing an intimate experience. Unfortunately that does mean that some events will sell out quickly. We very strongly advise early booking!

Konichiwa Japan

EVENTS

This is the beginning (hence Konichiwa which means hello) of a long-term festival celebrating and exploring Japanese culture in comics and related art forms. It will take an all-round approach so will feature Japanese creators working in the UK, Japanese creators working in other parts of the world including (of course) Japan and UK creators drawing on Japanese culture. It will include manga but will go much wider and it will feature across the range of festival elements including exhibitions, film etc.

Just for Laughs?

Like the Japanese strand this is a long-term focus recognising France as the leading producing comic nation in Europe and second in the world to Japan. The events will celebrate both the creators, the publishers and much more besides.

Lost in Space This is the main theme for the family zone but also features in other parts of the festival. It includes a specific focus on the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who in comics but also goes to infinity… and beyond.

Some work will be available for the first time at the festival and many of our guest creators will also appear at the Clock Tower over the weekend to sign, sketch and meet their fans.
