Q - The Arabian show will be happening during a serious Covid event in Scottsdale. What safety precautions is the Association implementing to protect the exhibitors from oneanother? A - “Six-Point Safety Plan,” puts everyone’s health and safety front and center. This clear easy to understand campaign that will be extensively communicated to our participants, staff and essential personnel. Mandatory Masks & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) All competition staff, officials, volunteers, service providers and participants two-years of age and older are required to wear a face mask or face covering at all times while on competition grounds, except when mounted on a horse, riding in a horse-drawn cart and designated eating areas (must be stationary while eating or drinking). Masks will be required the entire duration of the event from move in through move out (February 6-22, 2021). Physical Distancing A 6-foot physical distancing rule will be enforced throughout the event. Signage, floor guides and plexiglass barriers will be utilized where applicable to assist and remind our participants. Where this isn’t feasible, we have mitigated as best as possible with plexiglass barriers or clear signage. All individuals must practice physical distancing at all times by staying at least six (6) feet (about two arms’ length) from any person who is not a member of their immediate household. Handwashing & Enhanced Sanitation Participants will find easy access to bathroom sinks/soap and hand sanitizer throughout the property. Incident Response Protocols We are heavily focused on reducing the chance for the infection to spread on our properties. In the unfortunate event a guest or employee tests positive for the virus, we will activate protocols and leverage our trained staff to respond quickly so that exposed areas are thoroughly sanitized. The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show has medical and trained security personnel on staff to respond quickly in the event of an incident. Q - What is Scottsdale’s policy for wearing masks during events at WestWorld? A- Everyone must wear a mask. Eating & drinking in designated areas and athletic competition when competing are the only times a mask may be removed ( when riding a horse, when competing for beach volleyball, etc. ) . Q - What is Scottsdale’s policy regarding spectators at WestWorld events? A - Control, event producers must submit plans that show that they can and will control all attendees. This is about mask wearing and social distances. Volume of attendees is about producers ability to control the volume requested. Q - Scottsdale installed special filtration systems to clean the air of viruses, how much did those alterations cost? A - UV/Ion air treatment has been installed in the air handlers in the TNEC as well as hands free hardware on doors and restroom fixtures. I do not have the expenditure as the City’s capital and facility group administered and installed. It will be next week before I get this number. Q - It is reported an event was shut down right in the middle of the schedule because people were not wearing masks. Is that true, and if so can that happen again at WestWorld? A - Yes, one event has been closed due to non-compliance of the plan they submitted and were approved by (October 2020). Can it happen again, yes. We are working closely with every event producer to be compliant and thus the pre-submittal of plans so the producer is capable of maintaining compliance. If a producer is noncompliant we will close them, for non-compliance.
