‘First-rate... an admirable introduction to a great pioneering performer’
Emma Johnson plays Mozart Schubert Symphony No.8, ‘Unfinished’ Mozart Clarinet Concerto
HHHH The Guardian
Beethoven Symphony No.7 Conductor: Nicholas Collon Clarinet: Emma Johnson One of classical music’s most well-known and respected soloists, British clarinettist Emma Johnson joins the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to perform Mozart’s ethereal and beautiful Clarinet Concerto. Mozart’s instinct for the clarinet’s mellow tone and sinuous flexibility is unsurpassed and the slow movement is justly famous for its exquisite lyricism. Schubert’s ‘Unfinished’ Symphony is a magnificent work; the variety and immediacy of the themes suffusing the two movements are breathtaking: at once fragile, shimmering and deeply moving. Beethoven, another symphonic genius, demonstrates his mastery of the form in the glorious Seventh Symphony, full of profound melodies and concluding with an irrepressibly boisterous finale. A special three course set menu, including choice of starters, main course and desserts is available in the Spotlight Restaurant prior to the concert. Tickets: £19.95. Please book in advance from the Box Office. Please arrive between 5pm and 6pm is open for pre-show meals two hours prior to the concert, offering a wide selection of freshly cooked meals. To reserve a table please contact the box office. Pre-concert talk at 6.30pm by Gwyn Parry-Jones: Mozart: Clarinet Concerto

Call Mr. Robeson A life, with songs Written and performed by Tayo Aluko with Michael Conliffe (piano) Paul Robeson is a great and famous actor, singer and civil rights campaigner. When he gets too radical and outspoken for the establishment’s liking, he is branded a traitor to his country, is harassed, and denied opportunities to perform or travel. This rollercoaster journey through Robeson’s remarkable life highlights how his activism caused him to be disowned and disremembered, even by leaders and descendants of the civil rights movement. It features some famous songs (including a dramatic rendition of Ol’ Man River), speeches, and a spectacularly defiant testimony to the Senate House Un-American Activities Committee. Suitable for ages 12 plus

George Dillon
Pappy’s Last Show Ever!
The Gospel Of Matthew By Candlelight Experience a stunning, virtuoso delivery of the greatest story ever told... as Jesus’s followers first heard it... in a darkness illuminated purely by candlelight and the Word! Acclaimed by critics and audiences in theatres and churches throughout the UK, award-winning actor George Dillon presents an unforgettable vision of Jesus in his highly intense, very human and occasionally humorous solo staging of the first Gospel.
Pappy’s return with a brand new show full of sketches, songs and silliness! But is this really the end for ‘the funniest sketch troupe on the fringe’? (Scotsman). After appearances on Channel 4, Radio 4 and BBC3; five hit Edinburgh shows; national tours and award-winning podcasts are they finally throwing in the towel?
Short-listed for The Stage’s ‘Best Actor’ Award in Edinburgh, Dillon’s epic, impassioned performance of his own translation portrays Jesus not as a meek and mild lamb to the slaughter but as a contemporary raging fighter for God. www.georgedillon.com
