Spiers & Boden
You Need Me presents
Death Song
Described by The Guardian as ‘the finest instrumental duo on the traditional scene’ and twice winners of the BBC Radio 2 folk award for Best Duo, Spiers and Boden have made the genre of spontaneous, punky English folk very much their own. At the 2010 BBC Folk Awards, Jon Boden was named Folk Singer of the Year.
Juan lives alone with his 15 year old daughter, in a trailer park outside Vegas. He works hard to build a life for them both; cleaning casinos by night and washing cars by day. But beneath the surface the claustrophobic relationships that will lead to tragedy are forming.
www.spiersandboden.com
With a haunting live original soundtrack on cello and guitar, and performed by a cast of Puerto Rican, Basque, Catalan and English actors, Death Song is the tense, electric story of a Mexican man on death row in Nevada during the 1980s, and the events leading to his arrest for murder.

Hard Times Creative Cow returns with a scintillating and wonderfully inventive adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel. This entertaining adaptation of the evocative saga is set in the north of England at the height of the Industrial Revolution. Four actors represent all the resilient residents of smoke-filled Coketown as well as taking on the roles of the visiting circus performers, stuffy business men, downtrodden workers, oppressed women and rural rascals, finally revealing that even in the gloomiest of social landscapes, honesty, loyalty and jolly good times are possible! Bong Soon A Windy Tale By Peter Wynne Willson with Ko Sun Duck Suitable for children aged 4 plus A thunderously naughty tale created by Korea’s best-known children’s company and the UK’s Moby Duck. One of Korea’s naughtiest and bestloved tales in a new English version that promises to be just as wild (but of course in impeccable taste)!
Oh What A Lovely War Joan Littlewood’s musical entertainment remains a modern theatre classic and a powerful reminder of the atrocities of a war that cost 20 million lives. Told through the songs and documents of the period, it’s a satirical attack on the military incompetence and disregard for human life the First World War represents and a chilling reminder of man’s inhumanity to man. At turns satirical, funny and deeply moving, the production combines live music, dance, songs and sketches to create a picture of life for those on the front line and those behind it. Suitable for ages 11 plus. www.blackeyedtheatre.co.uk
You can hear Bong Soon coming for miles – her toots and hoots, biffs, boffs, pumps and trumps wake small children, frighten goats and even blow pheasants out of trees. For three years she keeps things quiet but it all gets too much - she can’t hold it any longer! Storytelling, live music, puppetry and wild, exuberant Korean humour swirl together into a heady, exhilarating performance style - it’ll blow you away!
