A hidden gem in the south east corner of Mallorca, Cala d’Or or golden cove as it translates, offers something for everyone. It is the perfect resort for couples, large groups and families of all ages.

Two beautiful clean, safe beaches nestle amongst the coves, a pretty marina with yachts and motor boats to admire and wide selection of bars, restaurants and coffee shops all combine to make Cala d’Or the perfect holiday destination.

For those who like active holidays a golf course just a mile away, quality bike hire and some excellent coastal walks should satisfy all tastes although the best way to appreciate the spectacular scenery is to take a boat or high speed rib along the coast stopping off at the magical coves on the way.

For visitors in August Cala d’Or is host to the Fiesta de Deu del Mar, or Lady of the Sea, during the festival the whole town becomes a hive of activity with sporting and music events and a maritime procession around the harbour.

The heart of this little town is the pedestrianised centre with its boutiques, open air bars, restaurants and cafes, whilst Cala d’Or may not have as much charm as some of the older villages in Mallorca its winning formula is that there is plenty to occupy all members of the family right on the doorstep.

Cala d’Or & Marina area

Cala d’Or area boasts several pretty sandy coves and the centre which offers a pedestrianised area with many shops, cafeterias, a wide variety of restaurants and a bustling night life. Cala d’Or marina is just 2km(s) away from the centre of Cala d’Or and offers a superb array of restaurants, cafeterias and filled with luxury yachts and boats.

Cala Esmeralda

Cala Esmerelda is a quiet, residential area just 10 minutes walk from the centre and main shops. A small, sandy cove, of the same name, is only a few minute’s walk away.

Cala Egos

A small but busy area with a variety of shops and restaurants. Just a 15 minute walk from the Cala d’or Marina. The Cala Egos beach is close by whilst the Es Forti beach is a short walk away.

S’Horta

A small, inland village only a 5 minute drive from Cala d’or. It has a small supermarket, a few bars and a good baker. The Cala Sanau beach is a 10 minute drive away.

Cala Gran

The main and largest central beach in Cala d’or. Close to the hotels, residential apartments and shops. It offers pedalos and is one of the pick up points for the local boat trips.

When to Go

Mallorca is a truly year round destination with temperatures on average 8-10˚Celsius warmer than the UK. April, May, September and October are perfect for the outdoors and sports lovers, golf, cycling and walking are all well catered for here and can all be arranged before you travel. June, July and August offer uninterrupted blue skies and glorious sunshine along with the fiesta season which sees colourful processions and magnificent firework displays in many towns and villages. The winter months can also be enjoyable here with relatively warm temperatures and many sunny days.
