ALGARVE

Year round sunshine tempered by gentle breezes, almost a hundred miles of unrivalled golden sandy beaches, deserted little coves washed by the blue Atlantic and delightful fishing villages make the Algarve the perfect setting for an idyllic holiday.

For the more active, an abundance of golf, tennis, motor racing, karting, water sports, fishing, scuba diving and many more diverse leisure facilities ensure everyone is well catered for.

There are many local cultural and historic sites, harbours and marinas to visit along the coastline and for those who like to indulge in a little Portuguese ‘vinho’ many of the local vineyards offer wine tasting tours. Shopping in the quaint local shops and boutiques is fun or if serious ‘retail therapy’ is your thing then the large shopping centres in Portimao and Guia are the perfect place.

Bars and restaurants are plentiful in the Algarve and the quality of the food and wine is second to none. Favourites such as Piri Piri chicken can be found almost anywhere and other specialities include ‘bacalhau’- salted cod and all types of fish and seafood which are of excellent quality.

Albufeira

Albufeira is the perfect setting for families, couples and singles alike and is central for many tourist attractions; Albufeira old town with restaurants, bars, cafes and shops, Albufeira marina and the beautiful sandy beaches.

Gale

Just a few kilometres from Albufeira and with 5km of golden sandy beach, the resort of Gale has gained in popularity in recent years. Families will love the beachside cafes and the close proximity to Algarve Shopping Mall.

Guia

A small and unassuming village about 3 miles from the coast, Guia is famous f or its Piri Piri chicken and being ‘home’ to its most famous resident, Sir Cliff Richard, who owns a vineyard there. The village is a hive of activity in the evening when the many bars and restaurants come to life serving a whole array of popular Portuguese cuisine.

Olhos d’Agua

A pretty resort which stretches out along a beautiful sandy beach and has restaurants, beach bars and shops. At one end is Pine Cliffs, a renowned golf resort and 5 km along the sandy shore is the elegant resort of Vilamoura with more golf courses and a superb marina.

Quinta Do Lago

Quinta do Lago makes up one corner of The Algarve’s golden triangle. Located to the west of Faro airport this residential estate and golf resort offers something for everyone.

Vilamoura

Vilamoura is one of Europe’s largest tourist complexes and it is easy to see why, with six golf courses, two beaches, a variety of sports centres and even a casino, this bustling resort caters to every taste.

When to Go

The Algarve has a long summer season with temperatures being moderated by the gentle breezes. April and May are cooler but perfect for playing golf or other outdoor activities as are September and October.
