WEEKLY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND ECONOMY NEWSPAPER

The 5th Technology Platforms meeting of 2016 ‘Internet of Everything (IoE) was held on Thursday, August 25th in Hilton Istanbul Bomonti. Many titles such as the development of products and services on the IoE axis, using creativity and changing risk perception were shared with the participants in the event. Delivering the opening speech of the IoE Technology Platform meeting BThaber Corporate Group President Murat Göçe drew attention to the IoE potential in the framework of sponsors and participants. Each year, 5 billion microprocessors are produced, but only 10% of that is used in computers said Murat Göçe and emphasized on that the rest of the microprocessors are addressed extensively in this event. Stating that security and infrastructure are significant in IoE, Göçe made the following warning: “The internet infrastructure is not strong enough to support the new technologies. Many jobs will be eliminated with IoE and it is a requirement to improve the educational structure in line with this information” Göçe described the title change of the events over the years: “In the past, there were only a few numbers of events. Since 2014, we continue organizing our events with the brands we own despite the political agenda and challenging environment. However, since 2012, the companies are organizing their own conferences and this is an important issue. It is also not very beneficial. Therefore, come and work with us to do this work together. Our appeal to the brands is working together on a lower budget. The ICT Summit to be held in November expected to host more than 3 thousand participants. We will host speakers from Turkey and abroad on “Digital Evolution with Industry 4.0” with rich content.” IBM philosophy in data processing In the IoE Technology Platform, after Göçe; IBM IoT MEA Sales Leader Dr. İzzet Yılmaz Önel took te floor. The world is moving towards an interesting place, technology is developing rapidly; software and coding development issues are significant. Showing

We cannot afford to bypass Industry 4.0 and IoE

these findings as examples of the importance of software and embedded systems, Dr. İzzet Yılmaz Önel pointed out that the increasing data will not be structural. The approaches processing and extracting meanings are defined as defined conceptual approaches. Önel said that different sectors improved production processes using this approach and told about industrial trends: “Software and evaluation of data are gaining importance. These innovations are even more important in many sectors such as insurance and automotive. So the products are getting complicated and for full design compliance, IBM Continuous Engineering gets into the picture. This approach supports a variety of products and services on a global basis. Needs management, design, modeling, testing, certification, field work and data collection, analysis of data, interpretation of feedback, needs update and responding to customer expectations are possible with IBM’s approach.” Simplicity and uniqueness create a difference With his presentation “IoT

Impact on the Customer Experience”, The Peppers & Rogers Turkey General Manager Selim Uçer pointed out that everybody is speaking about titles such as IoT and big data. “In the past, brands would speak and people would listen but now consumers speak and in the coming period even things will speak.” Said Uçer and claimed that effective usage of big data will gain even more importance. In order to change the value proposition, it is a great opportunity for companies according to Uçer. He also expressed that simplicity and differentiating in competition are significant. Experience and differentiation with products should be a priority for companies as stated by Uçer, he gave details as the following on the change: “Increasing numbers of consumers desire speed and personal offers. IoT provides differentiation through experience, facilitates customer identification, increases the transparency of the entire production process, via Omni-channel technology, usage information and people’s usage habits can be tracked. There are two critical issues in technology.

First is service development, which is transforming data into meaningful and usable action. Second is making big data analysis to improve service and being an expert on this subject. In the large data title, you need to set up the data environment first, and then you have to bring it to the corporate culture.” Rules of the game are changing Bosch Turkey IoT ve Industry 4.0 Coordinator Mustafa Ayhan made a presentation titled as “Data Management in Smart Life”. Stating that there is human on the basis of Industry 4.0, Mustafa Ayhan stated that: “The industry does no longer care about muscle power but brain power. In 2011, with the emerging of Industry 4.0 concept in Germany; we have begun to transform our own factories and we have made significant gains in production. We are transferring the experience gained in this regard to our entire ecosystem.” Presenting a speech titled “The Rules of the Game are changing with the Internet of Things”, Intel Turkey IoT and Embedded Systems Technical Solutions Manager Cem

Vedat Işık gave the following information: “The sensor costs decreased 50% in our day and age. The bandwidth and storage costs also experienced a serious decline and continue to decrease. It has a direct impact on the cost of devices in the Internet of Things scope. These changes are directly affecting the way of doing business, models and processes. Factors such as big data-aided autonomous vehicles, learning machines with artificial intelligence, modeling and simulation, advanced service model, three-dimensional printing, augmented virtual reality, drones, fast broadband are the basis of the digital transformation. 2016 - 2020 period will be the period that IoT spending will drastically increase. Looking at the companies that invest on Internet of Things, we see that 94% received the return on investment. One out of every four people in 2020 will be transferring their work to the robots; the amount of data resulting only from production in 2019 will be around 25 ZB. The annual maintenance savings that would be achieved with data analytics is estimated to be 62 billion USD.”

Don’t worry about loans

RASAT completed 5 years in the orbit Designed and produced in Turkey, our first domestic observation satellite RASAT travelled around the world 26 thousand and 724 times. Scanning an area of 11 million square meters, RASAT transferred 1.800 strip images to the ground station. Supported by TÜBİTAK Space Technologies Research Institute (TÜBİTAK UZAY) and Ministry of Development, designed and produced in Turkey, our first domestic observation satellite RASAT completed 5 years in the orbit even though its design lifetime was 3 years. Turkish engineers’ design In the scope of the RASAT project, the satellite assembly, integration and testing laboratories were expanded and more than 100 experts were trained on satellite design, production and testing. Turkey became a significant country in satellite technology with our national

observation satellite RASAT designed and produced by Turkish engineers in Turkey; while TÜBİTAK UZAY proved itself with its system design and integration skills to complete a satellite project. RASAT brought in a space history to Turkey by running the domestic flight and ground station software successfully with developed High Performance Flight Computer (BiLGE), 100 Mbps X-band Transmitter and Real-Time Image Processing (GEZGİN-2) equipment. Thus, TUBITAK UZAY revealed its competence not only in system level but also in sub-systems. First domestic observation satellite RASAT can obtain images from anywhere in the world thanks to its orbit feature. The raw images downloaded from RASAT satellite are transferred to the GEZGİN portal right after the geometric and radiometric correction processes are done.

Different financial service offers and awareness of regulatory authorities increase the possibilities for consumers and Hangikredi. com (whichloan.com) brings quality and contemporary presentations in many titles. Hangikredi.com was founded in 2006 and bought by iLab holding which has leading web platforms such as Kariyer.net and Sigortam. net in 2010. By the end of 2011, for a year and a half, they went through a development phase. Hangikredi.com General Manager Yılmaz Sonışık said that they offer various services here and added: “Our focus is our customers and all investments are made in this direction. In the models abroad, people primarily begin with either a loan or insurance service, so they choose one of these financial products. Insurance is generally more preferred abroad. Turkey’s priority is loans. The supply and demand on loans are significantly high in Turkey. However, the supply is not so intense overseas and granting processes are more difficult. For example, loan term limit for the retired declined

from 60 to 36 months in Turkey, and they had serious troubles. You receive a loan with a particular risk premium and you cannot pay this loan with your salary in 36 months. There are steps to be taken in the near future by BDDK. One of the action titles are raising the installment terms for loans from 36 months to 48 and the credit card installment limits. They narrowed the purchase options for curbing the current account deficit with an effort to limit the spending. As a result, the current account deficit experienced positive developments. However, the economy should rebound

with cash money. The Central Bank, BDDK and economic experts make announcements regarding overcoming the troubles based on legislation and the actions that will be taken on banks credit funds facilitation. The example would be the interest rate cuts. Our organic traffic is 5 times higher in housing loans since August 10th. Consumer loans did not remain the same time and increased 1.5 times. Normally, there are not announcements on consumer loans, but people are in search and applications have increased. We observe the increase and the traffic and measure the movements of all visitors in the website.”
