Early Learning Station Preschool Programs The Early Learning Station program promotes an environment that fosters critical thinking, problem solving skills and social development taught through alphabet and thematic units. The experiences are both educational and recreational, which aid in social, physical, intellectual and emotional growth. Qualified experienced teachers instruct the programs. Illinois Early Learning Standards are applied to curriculum lessons. Sign up early, classes are limited to allow for a low student-teacher ratio. Children must be toilet trained prior to the first day of class. Sessions are divided according to age. The 3 year old thematic based program is designed for one of a child’s first experiences in a “school” setting. Our program will stress socialization, cooperative play, fine motor skills, sharing and following directions, and the beginnings of letter and name recognition. Children must be 3 by September 1, 2012.
4-5 YEAR OLD PROGRAM The 4 year old phonics based curriculum will help develop the academic and social skills needed for entering kindergarten in area school districts. Our program will stress the development of independence and academic skills through learning centers, structured activities, socialization, cooperative play and dramatic play and sharing. Chilldren must be 4 by September 1, 2012.

About Our Staff! • Each preschool staff member has been carefully selected based on their: qualifications, experience and personality. • All staff members are CPR and First Aid Certified and have passed a background check. • Our student-to-teacher ratio of 13-2 ensures ample individual attention, and provides the group experience that is necessary for acclimation to elementary school.

Early Learning Station Early Morning Round Up
This program involves low key activities like reading stories, working table jobs or just relaxing with a favorite toy. Breakfast can be provided for $1 or sent from home. Transportation is also available for those heading off to school. Registrations must be in by 2:00 p.m. on the previous day in order to participate in the program or approval from a supervisor. $10 registration fee required.

To ensure that everyone in our preschool programs find them rewarding and enjoyable; we’ve established a few guidelines. We appreciate your cooperation. Children enrolled in park district programs must be potty independent unless it’s a parent/child class or otherwise stated. Children need to be able to take care of basic needs including potty use, manipulating most clothing and washing hands.

Safety Town Saturdays
Stop by anytime during the hours of FREE 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month and learn about safety. Bring your big wheels, tricycles or small bike and your helmet and learn how to ride our streets safely. Activities located inside and outside safety town will fill your morning with safe ideas (Outside activities weather permitting). Our safe Saturdays will be September 1, October 6 and November 3. Reading with the Dogs

A new infant/toddler play area will take the place of the Dutch Sailing Ship in the Exploralot Castle Exhibit at Exploration Station. This exhibit is being partially funded by a $2,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley and by funds raised through museum fundraisers, such as Knight in the Museum and the garage sale. The bright, colorful play area will be totally enclosed with interlocking, interactive solid birch wood partition walls offering exclusivity to visitors under the age of two. These partition walls will offer visibility of the surrounding area so caregivers can still keep their older children in eyes view. Little Squires will include interactive wall appliqués, balancing rocks, rocking horses, sit me-ups, mats with blocks, and a corner mini ball pit with slide. Only children under a certain height will be allowed access to this area.

Are the kids out of school but you can’t take the time off of work? This will keep your children entertained so you don’t have to take time out of your busy schedule. This program is designed to provide an activity filled day while kids are out of school. Teen Snow Tubing Trip
Travel with friends to Villa Olivia Country Club NEW in Bartlett IL, for this wintertime adventure. This Country Club is Chicagoland’s closet ski area and consists of a 180 vertical drop, ¼ long run, and a quad chair lift. If you get cold and look to warm up there is a full cafeteria with snacks and beverages for purchase. There will be Park District staff present during the trip. The price of the trip includes transportation, snow tube rental, and a 2 hour snow tubing session. Transforming Anger and Attachment Workshop In this 2.5 hour yoga workshop we will be exploring the ‘Karmic Spaces’ of Anger and Attachment, as well as, the ‘Karmic Graces’ -the positive aspects that help free us. We will learn how to come to a place of hesitation and detachment, freeing us from our attachments and creating an opening in our being. The physical postures chosen for this workshop help to relieve mental and emotional stress, fear, headaches, and help clear psychological disturbances. They open the hips, upper back and neck, and strengthen the pectoral muscles, lungs, heart, abdomen and lower body. We will also learn techniques that include Pranayama (breathing exercises), Meditations and Mantras specific to transforming Anger and Attachment. All levels welcome. Adult Athletics/Health & Fitness Fall Adult Kickball League
This is a new fun and exciting league at Diamond Point Park. Kickball is a fun recreational sport that anyone can play and it’s a great way to stay active and fit while hanging out with friends. A co-ed division will be offered for adults 18 years and older. There will be 5 males and 5 females on the field with one official. Teams will play 7 regular season games and a single elimination tournament. First games will start at 6:00 p.m. Diamond Point Park is an alcohol free park.
