Building A Bright Future!

Early Learning Station BOURBONNAIS TOWNSHIP PARK DISTRICT

3-4 YEAR OLD PROGRAM The 3 year old thematic based program is designed for one of a child’s first experiences in a “school” setting. Our program will stress socialization, cooperative play, fine motor skills, sharing and following directions, and the beginnings of letter and name recognition. Must be 3 by September 1, 2014.

4-5 YEAR OLD PROGRAM The 4 year old phonics based curriculum will help develop the academic and social skills needed for entering kindergarten in area school districts. Our program will stress the development of independence and academic skills through learning centers, structured activities, socialization, cooperative play and dramatic play and sharing. Must be 4 by September 1, 2014.

Early Learning Station Preschool Programs The Early Learning Station program promotes an environment that fosters critical thinking, problem solving skills, and social development taught through alphabet and thematic units. The experiences are both educational and recreational, which aid in social, physical, intellectual and emotional growth. Qualified experienced teachers instruct the programs. Illinois Early Learning Standards are applied to curriculum lessons. Sign up early, classes are limited to allow for a low studentteacher ratio. Children must be toilet independent prior to the first day of class. Sessions are divided according to age. Child should be 3 or 4 by September 1, 2014.

A specially designed hands-on curriculum includes: • Phonics & Reading • Math & Science Projects • Computer Centers

• Art & Craft Projects • Educational Field Trips • Music & Movement

*Unique features include use of Exploration Station a Children’s Museum and Perry Farm Park.

Program Guidelines and Registration • A BTPD registration form must be submitted along with a copy of a birth certificate and a $35 non – refundable administration fee. • Children must be of the appropriate age required for each program. • A current immunization form will be required for students before the first day of attendance. • All children must be able to take care of their own bathroom needs. Diapers are not acceptable.

The instructor will guide your child through fun activities that will help develop their independence. Different themes will be introduced through the season. Socializing, learning to share, playing games and listening to stories will be included in the programs. Child must be 2 by January 15, 2014. Parents do not stay.

This class is designed to ease separation fears and encourage independence. Children will have fun in a semi structured environment. This program will allow children to develop self-esteem and enhance social skills through songs, games, art and story time. Children will enhance their motor skills and coordination learning fundamental soccer skills! Dribbling, shooting, passing and teamwork will be the main focus of this program. Little Hitters T-ball

This class if designed for morning or afternoon preschoolers who would benefit from additional activities. The class includes many types of recreational activities. Transportation provided to and from schools located within Bourbonnais Township. Children must be toilet independent prior to the first day of class. Can be combined with Afternoon Adventure. Registrations must be in by 2:00 p.m. on the previous day in order to participate in the program or approval from a supervisor. $10 registration fee required. A child’s first experience away from mom and dad should be fun and exciting. This program will allow children to develop self-esteem and enhance social skills through song, games, art and story time. This program is for two year olds or young three year olds.

Camp Tiny Tots

Summer on the Farm

Nemo

Each day we conduct our search through the eyes of one of the Nemo characters. We’ll make ocean crafts, play games and learn about ocean life. A special surprise, a real live goldfish awaits each participant at the end of this journey. This program is for ages 3 ½ - 5 years.

Little Farmers

This fun-filled week of camp will teach your preschooler about farm life including the animals that live on the Perry Farm. Children will spend time learning about the farm through various hands on activities including feeding and petting the animals. This program is for ages 3-5

Safety Camp

Stop! Go! Look both ways! It’s time to learn safety. Topics covered will be personal safety, bike safety, fire safety and more. Lessons will be reinforced through stories, art, play acting, hands on activities, and classroom visits from the fire department and more. This program is for ages 4 – 6 years.

FUNTIME Day Camp

WILLOWHAVEN Nature Camps Little Trackers Camp

Campers will enjoy daily hikes, explorations, games, scavenger hunts and more as they learn about how animals live, where they can be found and how to follow tracks and trails left by animals. Campers are asked to bring hiking shoes, sunscreen and a water bottle to camp each day.

Outdoors Sports Camp

Sign up your child today for this new day camp focusing on learning the skills and techniques of fishing, archery and other outdoor sports. Equipment is provided, however, children are welcome to bring their own bows and poles. Campers are asked to bring hiking shoes, sunscreen, sack lunch and a water bottle to camp each day.

Archery Camp

The basics of archery, target practice, and skill proficiency are all a part of the one week archery course at the Willowhaven Nature Center. Camp will also include the historical significance of archery from ancient times to modern recreational activities. All equipment and archery instruction is provided by Marilyn Anderson from the Exline Sportsman’s club.

Survival Skills Camp

Camp includes two weeks of learning the basics of first aid, fire safety, and learning how to build an emergency shelter. Skills taught include identifying edible plants, knot tying, team building, outdoor cooking and how to use a map and compass. This camp also includes a half day ropes course field trip to Iron Oaks. Campers are asked to bring hiking shoes, sunscreen, sack lunch and a water bottle to camp each day.

Astronomy Camp

Join us in our supernova summer camp that will fascinate your child with out-of-this world information and activities themed around constellations, planets, moons, comets, asteroids and more. All campers will receive materials to take home from NASA’s JPL laboratories as well as take a field trip to the Adler Planetarium in Chicago! Based off the USTA Quickstart tennis program, this program provides an exciting format to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, short court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. Participants will learn fundamental tennis skills using a variety of different games and drills specifically designed to improve ball control, forehand, backhand, serving and volleying. A foam or low-compression ball is used to slow down the game speed. We provide all of the equipment!

This program is for dodgeball enthusiasts, it’s all dodgeball, all the time. This program will create an incredibly fun, fast-paced, adrenaline rush filled games of dodgeball. Participants will benefit by learning team work, strategy, and good sportsmanship while building speed, agility, coordination and throwing accuracy all while having fun. Do you long for garden fresh vegetables but have no space to plant a garden? How about renting a garden plot? Gardening enthusiasts will want to take advantage of garden plots available at the Perry Farm Park this summer. Hourly guided tours will introduce you to the rich history of the Durham and Perry families as you visit the Durham Memorial, three-bay English barn, horse barn, and farm house. Pioneer farmstead life will be demonstrated.
