The Early Learning Station program promotes an environment that fosters critical thinking, problem solving skills and social development taught through alphabet and thematic units. The experiences are both educational and recreational, which aid in social, phsical, intellectual and emotional growth. Qualified experienced teachers instruct the programs. Illinois Early Learning Standards are applied to curriculum lessons. Sign up early, classes are limited to allow for a low student-teacher ratio. Children must be toilet trained prior to the first day of class. Sessions are divided according to age. The 3 year old thematic based program is designed for one of a child’s first experiences in a “school” setting. Our program will stress socialization, cooperative play, fine motor skills, sharing and following directions, and the beginnings of letter and name recognition. Children must be 3 by September 1, 2012.
4 YEAR OLD PROGRAM The 4 year old phonics based curriculum will help develop the academic and social skills needed for entering kindergarten in area school districts. Our program will stress the development of independence and academic skills through learning centers, structured activities, socialization, cooperative play and dramatic play and sharing. About Our Staff! • Each preschool staff member has been carefully selected based on their: qualifications, experience and personality. • All staff members are CPR and First Aid Certified and have passed a background check. • Our student-to-teacher ratio of 13-2 ensures ample individual attention, and provides the group experience that is necessary for acclimation to elementary school.
Program Guidelines, Registration and Location • A BTPD registration form must be submitted along with a copy of a birth certificate and a reduced non-refundable administration fee of $35 for the 2012 year. • Children must be of the apropriate age required for each program. • A current immunization form will be required for students before the first day of attendance. • All children must be able to take care of their own bathroom needs. Diapers are not acceptable. • Location: RECREATION STATION 770 E. Breakfast can be provided or sent from home. Transportation is also available for those heading off to school. Little Hitters T-ball Camp
Learn the basic fundamentals of t-ball such as base running, batting, catching and throwing. In this two week camp participants will learn the game of t-ball through fun games. We strongly suggest a parent or adult is present to assist their player. Participants should bring their own glove. Students will learn horse basics and safety throughout the week, get a riding lesson each day, play games and complete special art projects to take home. This program is designed to teach students the basic in Hip-Hop and Jazz Dance while improving coordination and self-confidence! Perry Farm Prairie Wildflower Hike
The prairie restoration program at Perry Farm has been going on for over a decade, with volunteers and staff collecting seed and over-seeding existing areas while continually adding to the area planted in native prairie plants. Native prairie grasses and wildflowers are at their height of bloom in summer and early fall. Take a tour of the Perry Farm Prairie and learn about the native wildflowers of the Illinois prairie. Living History Camp
NEW Be the first to sign up for this new youth camp designed to get children excited and interested in early pioneer life. Participants will explore the Perry Farm historical areas as well as participate in activities, re-enactments, games, crafts, and more. Camp fees include a special field trip to Naper Settlement on Thursday, June 14. Camps will include outdoor activities and explorations of the farmstead so campers are asked to be prepared with clothing that can get dirty. Transforming Anger and Attachment Workshop
In this 2.5 hour yoga workshop we will be exploring the ‘Karmic Spaces’ of Anger and Attachment, as well as, the ‘Karmic Graces’ -the positive aspects that help free us. We will learn how to come to a place of hesitation and detachment, freeing us from our attachments and creating an opening in our being. The physical postures chosen for this workshop help to relieve mental and emotional stress, fear, headaches, and help clear psychological disturbances. They open the hips, upper back and neck, and strengthen thepectoral muscles, lungs, heart, abdomen and lower body. Summer Kickball League
This is a new league at Diamond Point Park that will make you feel like you’re in elementary school again. A co-ed division will be offered for adults 18 years and older. Kickball is a fun recreational sport that anyone can play and a great way to stay active and fit. There will be 5 males and 5 females on the field with one official. “Big River” The Musical
Acting Out Theatre Company will present the Broadway musical, “Big River!” Based on Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, we will be swept down the mighty Mississippi with the irrepressible Huck Finn! His hilarious, suspenseful, and heartwarming adventures bring your favorite characters from the novel to life. This musical will be presented on the banks of the Kankakee River, so please bring lawnchairs and/or blankets, and get ready to join the excitement of this brilliantly theatrical celebration of pure Americana.
