TERRY EKASALA: NEW WORKS

Terry Ekasala’s improvisational paintings explore the threshold between abstraction and representation. Ekasala approaches painting with immediacy and spontaneity, reveling in the interplay of color and texture, gesture, and form. New Works features monumental oil paintings and more intimate works on paper, as well as several new large-scale paintings commissioned by BCA. Residing in East Burke, Vermont, Ekasala has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. Ekasala is the recipient of the 2023 Vermont Prize.

Featuring three New England artists working in craft media including glass, wood, and paper, Texture & Response prompts us to recognize our fascination with texture. Texture & Response asserts that in place of touch, our visual perception of surface is just as compelling as physical sensation. These artists explore the allure of texture through their use of materials and a shared meditative practice.
