Learn the basics of creating metal jewelry. Techniques covered include sawing, piercing, filing, annealing, soldering, texturing, cold connections, basic hollow construction, ringsizing, and more. Students are encouraged to explore different styles of contemporary and historical jewelry, design process, and the use of alternative materials through the studio library, the internet, and on their own. Class price includes all basic supplies and equipment as well as open studio access during the weeks of the class.
Mixed Level Jewelry

Prerequisite: Students should have completed BCA’s Jewelry or a comparable class and have a basic knowledge of fine metal jewelry techniques such as sawing, soldering, drilling, filing and polishing.
Mixed Level Jewelry is designed for students who have learned the basics of fine metals jewelry but are looking to push their skills and projects further in a supportive environment. Demonstrations and instruction will focus on increasing soldering and finishing skills and will cover beginning chain construction. Jeweler Bren Prescott will provide expertise to develop individual projects, while fellow students will be encouraged to share knowledge and inspiration. Class price includes all basic supplies and equipment as well as access to open studio during the weeks of the class.
